when you said the posterior boundary of the superior mediastinum is the first 4 "Thoracic vertebrae" did you mean the first 4 "cervical vertebrae"?

Sir does phrenic nerve pierce the prevertebral fascia befor enters into mediastinum ?
Yes. It passes between the scalenus anterior and the prevertebral fascia, then pierces the fascia to enter the thorax

The level of the root of the lung is below the superior mediastinum. It is opposite T5 - T7
Contents of the Middle Mediastinum:
1. Heart surrounded by the pericardium
2. Ascending aorta.
3. Pulmonary trunk and its two branches: right and left pulmonary arteries.
4. The big veins: SVC, IVC & PV
a. Lower part of superior vena cava: ending in the right atrium.
b. Upper part of inferior vena cava: ending in the right atrium.
c. Four pulmonary veins: ending in the left atrium.
5. Right & left phrenic nerves with pericardiophrenic vesseles on sides of the pericardium
6. Right and left main bronchi.
7. Tracheobronchial and bronchopulmonary (hilar) lymph nodes

In the posterior mediastinum, it is the posterior gastric nerve (right vagus)
