She was told to wear a costume to a casual dress party, and she still walked around confidently like she owned the place instead of being embarrassed about it. Iconic.

Kellie Kane I believe Elle was programmed to believe she would be fulfilled studying fashion & marrying a man from a prestigious family, due to her upbringing & social influence. When she went to Harvard and started becoming empowered & gaining true self-worth through her achievements, she realised she didn’t even like Warner as a person & wanted to become a lawyer. I know everybody’s taking about Warner being a glorified A hole, but you know what I love? How David (the one who helped her get the book off the shelf) never judged her. Like in those classroom scenes everyone else would be laughing at her, but he was always pondering what she said and trying to see things from her perspective.
I love David. He is legitimately one of my favorite characters in the movie. And I think that in the musical, his character was blended with Emmett's, which is possibly the reason that Emmett is my favorite character.
Can we talk about when Elle says "i'll never be good enough for you, am i?" it shows how girls may seem so perfect, happy, she's the kind of people you see in the streets and think she probably has everything...but she doesen't. This movie was actually better than what people think, the musical is even better.
“I’m never gonna be good enough for you. Am i?” The way she says it, her facial expression, the light of her eye going away... this breaks my heart and give me a lesson at the same time. No matter what you do, you’re never gonna be good enough for someone who doesn’t want you.
I’ve said the same thing to myself every time I’ve been rejected. Reese really is an incredible actress. She showed the pain through her eyes and voice probably from her real life experience too and channeled into this movie for us to experience together.
And when Warner asks her to take him after the end of the trial, the same gleam exists just long enough to switch to "I need a boyfriend who isn't a complete bonehead", which is dead serious.
You can be the whole package and still end up at the wrong address. At this wrong address, they'll mis-handle you because you weren't supposed to be there.
"No matter what you do, u'll never be good enough for someone who doesn't want u." Your last sentence is SO TRUE, right on the money. More people should learn that.
Gosh, I wish I could blast badass girl power music, have one cut scene of me studying, and the rest picking up supplies, and instantly become smart enough to become a lawyer. #RealitySucks hahaha
Just before the part where she says "I'll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be!", there's a scene where Enid and her friends place bets on how long Elle would last as a Law student. It was deleted because in real life Law students are far too serious for that...apparently.
I love how you can see Elle’s switch flip in this scene. HE thinks I’M not good enough for him? I’ll show everyone HE was never good enough for ME. Also, Warner’s nerve! He knows Elle got in on her own merits and on the first try, while he got wait listed and only got in due to the privilege of his Dad’s money.
I think it was more humor than humiliation. You can't blame him for wondering why the heck she was wearing an outfit like that in an Apple store. It's a bit outside the norm.
“Did we not get into the same law school Warner?” Is hilarious in hindsight because Warner didn’t get in, his family had to influence/buy him in. Elle actually got in on merit.
Guys believe it or not, this was fate. Although some commented that she only went there to chase Warner, she realized later that Warner was the key to her success. Perhaps her mission in life was always to be a lawyer but never had a sign, and life sent her a prick like Warner to help her discover that side. That's why we never have to feel bad about our decisions, they unravel that hidden side of us 👏🏻
One of the things I love is that she embraces herself. Her girly girl aspect doesn’t make her less smart, or less capable she simply loves those things. Elle was always a clever woman and prone to leadership.
Low key thats actually a really sad realization to come to. When you put in so much effort for somebody you care about and they just keep degrading you and manipulating you into thinking that you just need to do more to make them happy, but in reality they just wont ever be pleased. It sucks
The irony of him saying she's not smart enough despite her getting into law school with a 179 score as required to be qualified, he's the one who actually failed his test of qualification and had to call in a favor to get accepted
After she asks: "I'll never be good enough for you am I?" this disappointed and hurted pause. And when the music starts you can literally hear the penny drop.
My favorite thing about this movie? She gets into law school after deciding to go late in her last undergrad school year, takes the LSAT one time, and gets accepted the first time she applies. She kicks all kinds of ass while there, graduating as valedictorian. All the while her ex-boyfriend- the privileged little legacy boy who got waitlisted, graduated without honors, and dumped her because she wasn’t “serious” enough for him- walked away empty-handed. Just perfect 💕
Do not underestimate a fashion designer. If you knew the struggle we go through to get good grades on a subjective industry, you'd cry. Most people don't even finish the study because the preassure is too much. Here Elle shows the resilience and discipline you have to have to study fashion design and she applies it to get where she wants to in law school. I say it because most people think it's easy, until they try it.
She is obviously used to other peoples negative projections and put her defences up right away. Has always sounded more like self-hate to me. I think Elle knew not to take her so personally. @@StewNWT
I was super in love in my best friend from high school. I told him my dream was to study in Europa. He told me I was not smart enough for that. I went to Germany, learned German from 0, and graduated from modern languages and literature. I sent him a picture of my German diploma ☺️
I love how this movie make her powerful and a sort of feminist before it really started, but still made her very feminine which was really cool. Like showing the world that a girl can be girlie and still be badass! She is such an inspiration to me
*"Did we not get into the same law school, Warner? We took the same LSAT's and we're taking the same classes"* Get it girl! Don't let them talk down to you because they don't think you're meant to be there.
This is such an encouraging movie. The purposely done camp doesn't take away from a great message: You can do almost anything you set your mind to if you work hard and don't listen to your detractors! Her focus was everything!! Still love you Elle!
I think this was the scene where Elle finally realized that she wasn’t going to get Warner to take her seriously as a woman and as his equal, therefore she was finally coming into her own as a person, and recognizing her own worth. Since the day she got to Harvard people have been dismissing her because of the common stereotype most perceive her as and that she not in the same caliber as them. You can be fun and bubbly and at the same time an intelligent and insightful person. It’s all manner of perspective. I love how she said ‘I’m never be good enough for you am I?’ which made me hurt for her but then when she stormed off it was her finally sticking up for herself and as inwardly saying ‘fine just forget it I’m valuable I’m smart and I don’t need you’. Ill show you how valuable Elle Woods can be! Reese really hit home for me with this scene she finally put herself first and took charge ❤️
I love how this movie keeps going back to ‘be more serious’ and immediately follow up with Elle being successful in her own way, it shows everyone’s path to success is different and crushes the stereotype of needing to be ‘serious’ to do it
I think I just realized a new aspect of this scene and wanted to share: the character of Elle is actually being punished here for being too pure. Her character is judged as being naive and dumb for not being malicious, Elle contrasts with the rest of the university characters because they have this mixture of malice and fear within them. Elle is pure because she never thought herself as dumb or perceived others as dumb because of appearences, just like she never treated anyone different, she was always herself, so that is one of her virtued, her high emotional intelligence - what helps her see trough everyone as a lawyer too. This can also be perceived in her friendships troughout the movie too, although she is rich and could choose to only hang out with people of the same social class, she makes friends with her nail tech because she sees this purity in her as well, same goes to her two best friends, they seem to be airheads, in the sense of not being able to understand the dense text and academic background Elle is facing (what could apart a lot of friendships), but they don't care because they put Elle's character first too and support her even if they don't understand it. With the others character the relationship needs to be build, because they are trying too hard to be this image of a serious professional that they somehow lost themselves on the way, being conditioned to the group, like Vivian - what is kind of symbolic, because they are law students preparing themselves to defend others in court, but they are quick to judge others by external appearences, they are the ones that are playing the judge before being just in judgment (as they do with Elle and David). And same goes to Elle, she never changes herself after or during law school. She doesn't put herself in a superior position towards her friends. Everyone she keeps close is due to their good character, and only this matters.
Honestly in a way Warner is the best thing that ever happened to Elle. He showed her how much better she is without him and that she’s worth more than his opinion, his prejudice and his boneheaded way of life. And thanks to him, she was able to become the person she was meant to be and with a guy who actually respected her and valued her.
I love how the music changes to more of a badass pop song when she turns around to leave. It shows her shift from being hurt to making a goal to prove him/everyone wrong.
I guess my life is sort of like Elles. Got dumped by an ex and studied hard to get in to law school. Now going in to my final year of law school if there’s anything I could do or say to my ex, it’s give him the middle finger and thank him for pushing me to do law instead of another career path 😂
I am a law student and heartbroken right now. My classmate which is my bf cheated on me. I am just weak, unmotivated but this movie gives me the courage and strength to go on. And to show him that I am not what he think he is. I might just become a dark horse.
This movie is one of my favs to watch, it really shows how Elle while working towards her goal was never too hard on herself and always had time to pamper her self-care needs, and I adore how none of her friends never judge her about it even though they are unfamiliar with that activity or world, instead they just support her no matter what that is like such a breath of fresh air
warner dumping her was the best thing to happen to her. i love that she was the pretty, popular rich girl with a heart of gold. she stayed kind and caring towards everyone despite being discriminated against, misjudged and bullied. i was happy to see her and vivian become friends.

Y'all discussing this comment and I just wanna know what "to the T" means.
The fact that dave was really the only person kind to Elle before she showed people she was great he was an underrated character
Emmett was also kind to her :) We need more people like them!
His name is David, but You're right.
And she helped him back when the girls were mean to him
@@julkasteven8198 Dorky David
I remember this scene. I would loved to have that Tangerine colored Mac. It had a style that today's machines lack.
me too
It seems just too tacky
Davide Consonni it’s a girl thing lol
Sarah Lindsay Mccain actually no its not a girl thing im a girl and i find that laptop atrocious
Zahra Alawad I love it ....It's a matter of opinion and preference
Elle is actually one of the most phenomenal characters ever
I know everybody’s taking about Warner being a glorified A hole, but you know what I love? How David (the one who helped her get the book off the shelf) never judged her. Like in those classroom scenes everyone else would be laughing at her, but he was always pondering what she said and trying to see things from her perspective.
I love David. He is legitimately one of my favorite characters in the movie. And I think that in the musical, his character was blended with Emmett's, which is possibly the reason that Emmett is my favorite character.
He was so sweet💗
Can we talk about when Elle says "i'll never be good enough for you, am i?" it shows how girls may seem so perfect, happy, she's the kind of people you see in the streets and think she probably has everything...but she doesen't. This movie was actually better than what people think, the musical is even better.
Yes I love the musical so much!
Musical😢?
“I’m never gonna be good enough for you. Am i?”
The way she says it, her facial expression, the light of her eye going away... this breaks my heart and give me a lesson at the same time.
That was a good example of how talented an actor she is.
"No matter what you do, u'll never be good enough for someone who doesn't want u."
Your last sentence is SO TRUE, right on the money. More people should learn that.
This is a great example of the saying "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". I just love it!
Yesenia Maqueda except even better because she just decided to do something good for herself!
More like
"Hell hath no fury like a woman who has been told she can't do something"
Gosh, I wish I could blast badass girl power music, have one cut scene of me studying, and the rest picking up supplies, and instantly become smart enough to become a lawyer. #RealitySucks hahaha
Emily Roberts I think they mean they wish they could do it in 2:44 minutes like this clip
This is what I thought through out as I was watching it!
I hope you did get shots of you picking up supplies and studying just for the hell of it and made an awesome remix of this
Just before the part where she says "I'll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be!", there's a scene where Enid and her friends place bets on how long Elle would last as a Law student. It was deleted because in real life Law students are far too serious for that...apparently.
Well the bet was no longer necessary.
I guess they just moved the bet to the next movie, which is even weirder since those are adult lawyers
Wish that scene had been left in
If you pause the clip at the right time you still see them looking on while holding the bowl with the money in it
Not Harvard law students. They really are just as stuck up as this
I love how she finds a perfect balance between her prioritizing studies, her health, and her beauty.
Yep!
"Ahem."
Please, pal, she's already humiliated enough.
Grant Stoutenburg I
I think it was more humor than humiliation. You can't blame him for wondering why the heck she was wearing an outfit like that in an Apple store. It's a bit outside the norm.
Honestly I found that scene so hot 😅
"Don't ask"
"I wasn't gonna"
I love their relationship
Lady Talksalot it wasn’t an Apple store lol, it was the Harvard Law School student store
That David's smile after she thanked him is everything. So cute.
this scene gives me hope i swear prove these haters wrong
“Did we not get into the same law school Warner?” Is hilarious in hindsight because Warner didn’t get in, his family had to influence/buy him in. Elle actually got in on merit.
Also Elle got a higher SAT score than him to
watching this it gave me motivation to study, roughly a few hours to a day then i returned to my potato habitat.
😂 💀
“Don’t ask.” “Wasn’t gonna!”, funniest short word exchange in the movie.
Guys believe it or not, this was fate. Although some commented that she only went there to chase Warner, she realized later that Warner was the key to her success. Perhaps her mission in life was always to be a lawyer but never had a sign, and life sent her a prick like Warner to help her discover that side.
That's why we never have to feel bad about our decisions, they unravel that hidden side of us 👏🏻
Yes, sometimes fate taps you on the shoulder. Sometimes it throws a brick. And in Elles case, it threw a prick in her path
@@elenachristian9860 more like a barrel full of dry concrete 😭💀
A bledsing in disguise.
There’s an Indian proverb that says ‘sometimes the wrong train takes you to the right station’
It sucks
Song: Joanna Pacitti - Watch me shine. For all the people wondering!
Thanksss
Thanks! 😊
Thanks Girl
The comment I was looking for. Thank you! :D
I love this song
The irony of him saying she's not smart enough despite her getting into law school with a 179 score as required to be qualified, he's the one who actually failed his test of qualification and had to call in a favor to get accepted
After she asks: "I'll never be good enough for you am I?" this disappointed and hurted pause. And when the music starts you can literally hear the penny drop.
I think this is the moment Elle is done with Warner for good.
A better scene would have been Elle became a high powered and highly successful Attorney and Warner became her Secretary! 😈🤭😀😉🥰
And why did the lesbian character assume she’d be homophobic with a fashion background ?
She is obviously used to other peoples negative projections and put her defences up right away. Has always sounded more like self-hate to me. I think Elle knew not to take her so personally. @@StewNWT
I'LL SHOW YOU HOW VALUABLE ELLE WOODS CAN BE!" This line hits hard.
I was super in love in my best friend from high school. I told him my dream was to study in Europa. He told me I was not smart enough for that. I went to Germany, learned German from 0, and graduated from modern languages and literature. I sent him a picture of my German diploma ☺️
Inspiring 🙏
What I like about Elle is that she wasn't doing this to prove something to society, she did it to prove it to herself
I need to put a picture of Elle in my office at the law firm I work at. Inspiration.
Can’t get into studying so here I am watching this for motivation
1:58 that feeling when you totally BS'd your way to an acceptable answer
Elle woods is a true icon! Shes rich, pretty, smart AND nice!!! She acknowledges her privilege and uses it to help others!!!!
20 years later and this scene still pumps me up
I love how this movie keeps going back to ‘be more serious’ and immediately follow up with Elle being successful in her own way, it shows everyone’s path to success is different and crushes the stereotype of needing to be ‘serious’ to do it
It was probably so hard for Elle to see someone she loves with someone else every single day. However, Warner's bad actions led Elle to her success.
I have been there. Like the saying goes, “What doesn’t kill you, MAKES YOU STRONGER.”
He never thought she was good enough for him, so she made it that he’d never be good enough for her. 🤣
Warner was never good enough for her or even Vivian.
Or Harvard🤣🤣
“I’m never gonna be good enough for you, am I?”
That’s the turning point in the film for me. It gives me chills.
The look on emmets face when he sees elle is like woah i didnt know she was like this 😂
Honestly in a way Warner is the best thing that ever happened to Elle.
He showed her how much better she is without him and that she’s worth more than his opinion, his prejudice and his boneheaded way of life. And thanks to him, she was able to become the person she was meant to be and with a guy who actually respected her and valued her.
I wrote my grad school app with this movie in the background as motivation. Got into the number one school for my degree. This movie truly inspires me
I 💯 love this movie !
I love how the music changes to more of a badass pop song when she turns around to leave. It shows her shift from being hurt to making a goal to prove him/everyone wrong.
The fact that he judged her when he had to pay to get into the school in the first place
It happens in real life way more than you think.
I’m watching this everyday as inspiration and motivation. If people look down on you, don’t fight them, prove them.
Forever my motivation to get my act together and start studying 😂
“I’ll show you how valuable Elle Woods could be!” 👩🏼✨👏🏼💗🙋🏼♂️
Look at that: a strong and smart female character that doesn't need to act and dress masculine to validate her intellect
my friend "my mantra: dont ever let a man tell you he doesnt want you twice."
Bruiser sitting under the hair dryer kills me every time 😂
Her dog though 😂😍❤️
Yora Pasho R.I.P. Bruiser. ❤️❤️❤️
This scene has always motivated me. It honestly gives me chills, we need more women like Elle Woods in the world.
Is it just me or did it take me a long time to see that Warner is Alaric from the Vampire Diaries
Beauty Pop i noticed the frist secand im very observant
Beauty Pop Holy Shit! I never realized it until this comment. He looks so young I didn't recognize him. Lmao.
EXACTLY I SAW so many comments on legally blonde videos saying he's Alaric and that's when it hit me hahahahahhaa
It took me a long time too
And he's with Ruby from Supernatural.
This is the video i go to for study motivation
"You're never gonna get the grades to qualify for one of those spots" says the guy who got wait listed until daddy made a call 🙄
The best classic ever! I love how they humanize this girl who is seen as just a rich blonde when there’s more to her than people give credit for
This movie needs to be played in Classes
I CAN ONLY HOPE TO HAVE 0.0001% OF ELLE'S RESILIENCE AND CONFIDENCE
I don't know what she saw in him in the first place, he's not even that cute...
agenttheater5 We all end up picking a trash guy at least once in our lives, sweetie. Trust me
Ana Castro Seriously And then later On We Realise What the Hell we saw in this douchebag!
Esha Basu Amen!
Or several douchebags as is my case.
Ana Castro I know I did
I guess my life is sort of like Elles. Got dumped by an ex and studied hard to get in to law school. Now going in to my final year of law school if there’s anything I could do or say to my ex, it’s give him the middle finger and thank him for pushing me to do law instead of another career path 😂
How did graduation go
Warner: “You’re just not smart enough.”A couple day later Warner:*regrets telling her that*
I am a law student and heartbroken right now. My classmate which is my bf cheated on me. I am just weak, unmotivated but this movie gives me the courage and strength to go on. And to show him that I am not what he think he is. I might just become a dark horse.
Um FWI she got 1 mark below the top grade. 179 out of 180. He got wait listed.
Yeah.. whenever I feel bad and want to walk out I always imagine myself while walking out and saying "I'll show you how valuable Elle Woods can be!"
Even Warner felt bad when she said "i'm never going to be enough". But she needed that to become what she is !!!
1:52 everyone's face when we answer a question no one could... you feel like your class' hero, but most of all, you're so proud of yourself
I do love how Emmett was respectful and didn't ask, but he still checked out her ass a bit lmao
warner dumping her was the best thing to happen to her. i love that she was the pretty, popular rich girl with a heart of gold. she stayed kind and caring towards everyone despite being discriminated against, misjudged and bullied. i was happy to see her and vivian become friends.
By far my favourite scene in the movie, one of the best montages ever
This is where I come back to everytime I need motivation. I'm halfway through med school thanks to Elle, who helped me motivate myself and keep going even when I didn't think I could
I was taking a huge quiz in math, to get in the really really hard advanced math class. I have never been good at math and I dunno, it clicked. The whole time this song was playing through my head and I felt great. And guess what. I got into that math class, the only girl in my class to accomplish the feat. I felt amazing.
I love how her laptop was so different from the others, and i love elle
so I watch that everyday as a motivation for my law studies haha I love her!
I remember those days. Spending every free moment that I had studying. It was hard, and a little lonely, but it was worth it. #Collegelife
When Warner told Elle he needed to be with someone who was a Jackie he dosnt realized that Marylin Monroe was incredibly smart. Before she died she was reading “ To Kill a Mockingbird “. She also cared a lot about black rights even helping Ella Fitzgerald . People just thought she was dumb beacuse she had looks but she was in fact a boss .
And to this day, Marilyn Monroe is STILL extremely popular to this day, people are STILL rocking her whereas Jackie is more of a has been blip in history. 😈😉🥰
