- The Vancouver Owners' Association are making a video about the history of the mark (which includes 27, 32, 24, 36 and 38 ft versions). We were asked to provide some footage - I'm sure it'll get edited down but this is our initial contribution.

Hello Dianne and Graham, thanks for the great testimony about your gorgeous yacht. My wife and I are seriously considering moving on to a yacht in 2 to 4 years. The Vancouver 38P is for us a very serious contender: encapsulated keel, cutter, self tacking staysail, deep forefoot, substantial toe rail, seems to be very seriously built, pilot house,.... 2 things I was wondering about:
- how is the forward view when helming sitting down in the cockpit?
- do you have a video of a tour of the boat, down below but also on the deck?

Hi Alexis, thanks for your comment. Visibility over the pilothouse is pretty good (actually better than the 34pilot) but we fitted a bigger wheel (which has to be a folding one to be able to access the cockpit locker) to make it comfortable to sit to leeward and look along the side deck.
There are several videos on our MaunieofArdwall UA-cam channel - the Post Lockdown Shakedown one from about 3 years ago has a below decks tour.
Be aware that they only built 12 V38 Pilots ( they were expensive board for their size) so finding one might be a challenge!

Good boats, I have been on one. What's that protuberance on the spinnaker?
I’m guessing it’s an Oxley self-stabilizing sail. From the Oxley website:
“In contrast to a conventional Spinnaker/Gennaker, Oxley’s self-stabilizing sails BORA and LEVANTE are equipped with a lift creating wing in the upper part of the sail body.
For the long distance cruising sailor the advantages of this construction can be summarized within the following features: For the cruising sailor with an AUTOPILOT. The entire boat is stabilized as the sail is automatically balanced by the lifting function of the wing. This leads to a reduction in rudder pressure and minimized corrections of the autopilot.”
Thanks for the comment. It’s a Parasailor ( a German design) - it has an inflating wing, much like a parascender canopy, which stabilises the sail, provides lift and also allows some venting of sudden gusts. We love that thing and flew it for 52 hours non-stop when we were crossing the Pacific.
