This is an exceptionally original and tasteful variation of Asik Veysel's song by Carlo Domeniconi and Mesut Ozgen has rendered it masterfully here...Inspires you to pick up the guitar at 3AM at night just to see that you can't play like this :)

This piece is a variation of famous turkish poet Asik Veysel... He was an ashik, poet, songwriter, and a bağlama virtuoso, the prominent representative of the Anatolian ashik tradition in the 20th century. He was blind for most of his lifetime. His songs are usually sad tunes, often dealing with the inevitability of death. However, Veysel used a wide range of themes for his lyrics; based on morals, values, and constant questioning on issues such as love, care, beliefs, and how he "saw" the world as a blind man.
Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım", translated to English: "I Walk On A Long And Narrow Road" is one of Veysel's best known works and is still popular among fans of Turkish folk music.
    This piece has also lyrics...
I am on a long and narrow road,
    I walk day and night;
I do not know what state I am in
    I walk day and night;
The moment I came into the world,
I walked at the same time
At an inn with two doors
    I walk day and night.
    I walk even while sleeping,
I am looking for a reason to stay
I always see the ones that left
    I walk day and night
    Forty-nine years on these roads
In the valleys, mountains, and deserts
In foreign lands I make my way
    I walk day and night
    If deeply thought about
The goal seems very far from sight
While the road is only a minute long
    I walk day and night
Veysel does wonder at this state
Lament or laughter, which is right?
Still to attain the distant goal
    I walk day and night

25 years ago i heard this for the first time in my live. At that moment i lived with a guitar player who won the Manuel Ponce concour Mexico in 1994. More people know Koyunbaba which is a masterpiece as well but mister Domeniconi is a real painter when he creates guitarmusic. Like mister Mandela says ; Music makes me at peace with the world - this truly counts for this song.

This is definitely the best version...Mesut Ozgen has inspired me to put the long hours of practice to learn this fantastic piece. I actually like the Buddhist Sculpture as this brings about a universal feeling of peace.

This Turkish song by Aşık Veysel Şatıroğlu (d. 1973), is called “Gündüz Gece”. It means Day and Night. Veysel mentions he walks day and night on the “long and thin” path of life, “a shelter with double gates”... Veysel is referred to as not only a composer or singer but also as a “lover”, “aşık” in Turkish. The deep roots of his creations lie not only in Anatolia but also in the greater hinterlands of Anatolia: Turkish thought and culture of Central Asia.
Aşık (Love) and Işık (Light) are related...
Aşık Veysel was one of the milestone figures reminding and connecting us with these mystic concepts. When one sees Aşık Veysel songs’ lyrics, one discovers a great deal of symbolism and nested meanings of depth. Interestingly I have observed that even non Turkish speakers have the feeling and meanings of the songs correct when they listen to Veysel’s songs for the first time. What causes that?

I'm on a long and narrow road
On my way morning and night
      I don't know what state i'm in
I'm on my way morning and night
From the moment I came into this world
Began walking at the same time
In a place with 2 doors
I'm on my way morning and night
If ever it is thought of in depth
It'll seem far away when it's seen
The path is worth one minute in quantity
Im on my way morning and night
Veysel is confused at the state of this....
      Some laugh and some cry
To reach upto the place of object (the goal)
Im on my way morning and night
      Uzun ince bir yoldayım
      Gidiyorum gündüz gece
      Bilmiyorum ne haldeyim
      Gidiyorum gündüz gece
      Dünyaya geldiğim anda
      Yürüdüm aynı zamanda
      İki kapılı bir handa
      Gidiyorum gündüz gece
      Şaşar Veysel işbu hale
      Gah ağlayan gahi güle
      Yetişmek için menzile
      Gidiyorum gündüz gece

Actually, Carlo Domeniconi wrote a "Hommage a' Jimi Hendrix". Likely, he very much appreciates the soul Jimi put into his music.

I think that Jimi could think that he played it after some smoked fat joints and some other mixture of high souce thing in his blood so for sure he could dreamed of this accomplishment.
