Saw this line up in '78 (- ish- that was a while ago) with Rush and UFO in Garden City KS, no less. No disrespect to either of those bands ,( they were both great) but Max Webster had the element of surprise going for them and completely blew my mind. Still love everything about them.
Subsequent "Reunion Tours" featured Peter F. London and Kitchener were a blast! However, Mike is STILL the man! (sorry Dave) It doesn't get ANY better than THIS!!! (Gary would like to order the King Crab and Terry will have French Onion Soup and a Scotch! ;) )
@MrChungli - Yeah that's Gary alright. Never got a chance to meet him, however I did see him play with Tres hombres a few years after Max broke up, and I got a chance to play on his kit at Klaatu's studio. That was SWEET!!
This was recorded on Dec 5, 1990 at Superstars in Brampton for Q107's live broadcast of the Toronto Music Awards. The audio was recorded by Comfort Sound Mobile on analog 24 track.
Thanks for adding this. Being from the UK, i wasn't aware that a 1991 re-union took place. One of their best songs along with The party and Research (At beach Resourts).
Wow indeed! This amazing! Thanks again Bigben! Can anyone out there steer me towards any place that sells Max related stuff? I'd give up some serious cash to own a Max t-shirt...better yet..I want that shirt Kim is wearing here!!! I sure miss the kind of professional fun these guys could dish out is serious amounts!!What players!!
Please tell me that's Gary McCracken on the drums. They were the 2nd band that my brother introduced me to when I was 11. The 1st was KISS (love them both)
these guys should have been so much bigger. problem was that radio at that time period was going through a huge disco outfreakage and you could only get air time if the music you played sucked.
i disagree. it's tough to break through when you stay in canada. for every Rush, there's a thousand other bands who never got their due. you may be partly right about the disco wave burying some acts, but there was still a ton of arena rock driving the industry back then.
And now it's playing all angry music and teenybopper crap, so any band that makes decent music doesn't get played now either. If it weren't for a mistake at the old CD store, I'd never have known about Max Webster.
It’s 5:20 am and I have this song running around my brain! What a great band and Canadian too! This is just a great song. Energetic and so memorable!
Under-rated band.Max Webster should have been just as big as any other band that made it big time in the 70's..80's .......
They were too good, that was their problem! They also lost a *key* member in '79 just as they were threatening to tip over into the bigtime.
Best party song from one of the most underrated bands of all time.
I saw them at Lulu's in Kitchener on New Years Eve in 1995 I believe. It was awesome
It was December 5, 1990. Toronto Music Awards held at Stars in Mississauga.
Pretty darned tight - sounds like they never broke up for an extended period. A Canadian institution. There should be statues of them in Sarnia.

I was there too! Best concert in GC history
Saw the same tour in Syracuse, NY
Loved this band live so many times in the early nineties. The real deal!
Mike Tilka looks so happy :)
Beyond cool man the Max machine
Saw them with Rush a couple times around '79. Real mind-blowing eye-opening stuff.
Epic!. Max shoulda been huge!
Great performance,I love watching some of the old Max Webster live vids....
It the bass player was any happier, I think he'd explode. Great song, great band.
Mike Tilka. The original bass player
@@trishjohn6050 I thought so! Didn't look at all like their later bassist Dave Myles.
Subsequent "Reunion Tours" featured Peter F. London and Kitchener were a blast! However, Mike is STILL the man! (sorry Dave) It doesn't get ANY better than THIS!!! (Gary would like to order the King Crab and Terry will have French Onion Soup and a Scotch! ;) )
Agreed, Fredette is incredible but doesn't belong in MW
AWESOME!!!! nothing better than the original thing....

I was at this show, I was too young to see them before they broke up so I waited many years for this awesome show. Thanks for posting.

This makes me want to go listen to 'I Think I'm Going Bald' by Rush.
So great this line up is.. I listen to Max more than Zep right now
If it somes down to Dave Myles vs. Mike Tilka, Mike kicks so much more ass on this song than Dave.
they sure could rock!
Please tell me that's Gary McCracken on the drums. They were the 2nd band that my brother introduced me to when I was 11. The 1st was KISS (love them both)
That's him!
Neil Peart was a big fan of Gary's drumming, that says it all really
Well, they DID do a song together....@@jeffsimon9594
I loved these guys in High School (NF Ont.) back in the day (early 80's).....Where was and what ever happened to Dave Myles..?

Wow this rules. High Class is like their best song on the real... until UJ of course!

They are totally unknown in Australasia (possibly the entire Southern Hemisphere)

This was at LULUS in Kitchener and they started the concert with OH WAR!!
Nope........sorry, it was @ Superstars in Mississauga/Brampton for the Toronto Music Awards.
