Zimbalist plays Gavotte by Gossec

Here is a recording of the great Efrem Zimbalist playing François Joseph Gossec's famous Gavotte. This selection was recorded acoustically by Victor Talking Machine Co. on June 8, 1915. Sam Chotzinoff is at the piano.

@historygenius no, but I've played piano for 14 years & guitar for 6 years. It gives me a slight advantage over the average person, but I find the violin difficult. It's fun anyway!

We listen to it every night after we practice cello and violin. We (twins) are only 6 and we like it a lot.

At last. It's made to be playfully played. It's been used in many Warner Brothers' cartoons. In fact, sadly, it's been the only Gossec work most Americans have ever heard. In France he was highly regarded, both before and after the Revolution. His numerous symphonies, choral works and operas deserve to be dusted off and revealed to the rest of us.
