I'm so happy that you got the Frontosa Cichlid!!!! They are one of my absolute favorites of the African Cichlids!
Now that you got the Frontosa Cichlid you HAVE to get Neolamprologus leleupi (Orange) and Julidochromis marlieri which is also lives in Lake Tanganyika and would really do well in your pond and utilize the rock crevices! . Also you should add Lamprologus Ocellatus (Gold Occies) to your Nursery/ Biofilter section! That way, you have really added a Cichlid for every nech in your pond!
Also just to really make the pond feel like the real Lake Malawi/ Tanganyika you should add next year a small school of Synodontis Petricola or Dwarf Catfish and a Single Specimen or a pair of mastacembelus armatus or Tire-track eel (both sp. from L. Tanganyika). That way you have a real and I personally think a complete ecosystem.
Keep up the great work! I always look forward to seeing and learning from your videos!
    Cheers

YAYYY guess kenan really listened about adding frontosas haha. Posted in one of his other pond videos that he should definitely add some type of frontosas as they are truely magnificent especially the blue zaire variants. Even though mostly of the cichlids are from lake malawi but the size of his pond is so big it woudnt hurt to add some lake tanganyikan cichlids. Also since frontosas can reach well up to 40cm in length and would prey on the smaller cichlids but again the pond is simply too big and too many hiding spots where other smaller cichlids can hide and frontosas are generally a slow graceful moving fish. I am amazed at how this pond has evolved and watch it continue to establish. Great job Kenan!!!

THANK YOU for considering cross contamination between ponds before sticking it in the water to film! When I had bettas I was SOOO paranoid about spreading diseases and stuff between tanks, I can’t imagine how paranoid a fish breeder would be about that sort of stuff!

Those are beautiful fish! One thing to be wary of when you have fish shipped in bags over night, or longer, is the ammonia levels raise drastically inside the bag because the fish is still producing waste, but the pH is also dropping very low thanks to lots of co2 being in the bag. When you open it, the gas exchanges rapidly, and the pH shoots up...at low pH, ammonia turns to ammonium and is not extremely toxic to fish...but as the pH rises, the compound converts back to ammonia which is extremely toxic. A good way to avoid a lot of the related risk is to remove them immediately from the bag water as soon as the bag is open rather than letting them sit in the bag water after it has been opened. Hope this helps someone out there!

I used to have some cichlids I got from my dad. He had been trying to breed them and had them in a 35-50 gal tank, got the breeding net things and everything and had no luck. Within a couple weeks of arriving into my 20 gal tank, they paired off and each pair took the opposite corner. They laid eggs, some of which fell under the grate and got sucked up into the filter tube. They BOTH produced a bunch of babies that grew fairly quickly. The fish weren't very big, only about 3-4". Bluish purple on top, silver underneath with black stripes. Have no idea what kind of cichlid they were, other than they were African cichlids. They were very territorial and attacked and chased my swordtails right out of the tank. The red tail "sharks" and pleco were the only other fish that were able to be in the same tank.
