The writing team for the last four years have been appalling they have changed characters backstories to fit what ever current storyline is going on, so we can't keep up and neither can they. The Brannings are the worst for this, they change more frequently then the wind. Thankfully the producer has been sacked and they have brought back one of their best writers to take over the show.
carl got 5 and a half years in prison while Derek was still doing his ten years for armed robbery Derek got released before carl and introduced max to kirsty after vanessa and greg found out about max and Tanya. Carl wanted adam to make sure kirsty stayed put but she got married to max then max went back to walford with Derek then kirsty shows up at Christmas day Derek dies. carl finds out about max and kirsty and now he wants her back and he will have a feud with phil Mitchell and the brannings

but there was 3 of them and also they've revealed adam white's brother carl white who is kirsty's x boyfriend and he shared a prison cell with Derek for years and kirsty said he was ten times worse than Derek so max is probably gonna get battered oh an apparently carl might clash with phil too
