As a saint Lucian I can definitely say that these people didn't spend time in the country long enough to experience the true adventure of the island. Trying to have a weeks experience in a single day isn't realistic or making any sense as you can see because you're rushing through the tours not bathing or spending the day on the beach or a day at the driving volcano or even a day at the waterfalls. Yes it is a small island but having or trying to experience everything in a couple of hours like that is what they signed up for and I'm sure its what they paid for as well. They would have been better off picking one place to spend the time they have & getting atleast one full experience or one of the sites. I saw no under water diving or hiking or even sea baths or mud baths or even trying out the exotic fruits, or even going to see the wild life.
I have been to St. Lucia three times (as a cruise stop) and on each occasion we (my family) used the local tour guys and never had a problem, nor were we disappointed in the services we received. We never booked our excursions through the cruise lines, and always hired local guides with their properly licensed vehicles for land excursions. We have never had a bad time in St. Lucia. In fact, we are planning on spending a week there during Christmas. I guessed you were unfortunate in selecting a guide that did not deliver to your expectations. But thanks for posting.
This is what happens when a ship decides to come to an island in the afternoon, the tours are rushed before sunset . Most of the other ships come in the morning. So one gets more time to explore the island. I'm sure the other islands u visited the ship docked there in the morning. Some of the places which were crossed out on the chart that you said you didn't see example, volcano (mud bath is in the volcano) the villages, bat cave, Marigot Bay, your boat actually did pass by, but I guess it was not pointed out to you. The photos on the chart is what you would see from doing only a land tour , you won't get that same picture view of the villages from the sea.

I would call this tour a boat tour to Soufriere ..What I know a land & sea tour to be is you drive down the island by land and get on a boat in Soufriere after doing the sites there, then head back up the island by sea.
You guys were complaining but you got what you paid for . You were suggesting that people bargain for the price . If you booked a tour with a reputable company you pay the price and you leave on time you don't have to wait around. St Lucia is a very popular and organized destination and its the number one honeymoon destination in the Caribbean.

That doesn't mean to ou have to discourage others from experiencing the country. Every country has it's advantagees and disadvantages. Your experience was just an unfortunate one.
Agreed! One of the gambles you make when you do not book your excursions through the cruise. I went zip lining through cruise and had a wonderful experience. Great drive through the town.
You might see it as a discourage others might see the set up and take notes on what time are we leaving? Are we getting on an actual tour boat or a slow fishing boat? Maybe we should booked through the cruise line... etc We are here to share our experience and if we did not like the tour we went on, we will not recommend it.
Glad you two arrived back at your ship safely! We did that cruise and another trick is the "whale watching" excursion. There were no whales! Just a long, long boat ride with the passengers looking at each other. Next time we will just do a day trip to the Bahamas on one of those boats out of Florida.
Apart from the delays and stress it looked like a great short tour! You passed most of the places on the list but in a boat it would be impossible to see.

I appreciate your insight. Seeing the crowds from boat view would make me nervous. To be in the tour office area with disorganized vendors and cruisers would make me more nervous. To wait 1 hour for the tour to start would make me more nervouser. To barely get back to port in time would have me most nervousest. You both held your composure well considering 90% of your time was being in transportation and not at the promised sights.
You have to do this tour in the morning so you will have enough time but when you want to do this tour in the afternoon what time you will have to do all that....if I was the captain I was doing everything you wanted but I Know the ship would of have gone and live you
We went to st lucia and stay at a resort they offered the land and sea tour for 140 ea the bus driver took us we had to leave at 8 in the morning we went to two beautiful snorkeling spots then took the bus to the waterfall which was sooooo cold 😅 then to the volcano mud bath which the resort gave us all towels then to beacon restaurant where we had a buffet lunch which was so delicious , they song me happy birthday then we drove back to the resort which we got to see the town we came back at like 4 and we where wore out we had a blast it’s pricey we expected that tho overall I highly recommend
We’re thinking of booking this trip next year. The only thing that worried us was whether the mountain roads were very dangerous with steep drops. Is this the case? We are very worried and can’t find much information on this - thank you x

Incorrect! There are proper showers, toilets, and changing rooms at the site. Those people probably had to rush and decided to do theirs at the waterfall. Remember, they were there for 10 minutes. Also remember you are getting reviews from people who didn't do the bath and probably didn't even ask the right questions and just posted a global review based on superfluous observation.
I've explored quite a bit of the Caribbean, and I'm honestly not surprised this happened to you guys. I NEVER book tours from some guy off the street. I either book a tour through Viator or directly through the company, or book a reputable private driver/guide. I've learned to check reviews and spot red flags. I've never really had any serious issues regarding tours, but from what I've seen, St. Lucia seems to be notorious for ripping off tourists. I've learned from personal experience, that a lot places in the Caribbean can easily be reached using public transport, but course if you're on a cruise and pressed on time, this may not necessarily be the best option. This is a big reason why I avoid cruises and mainly stick to the colonial islands.

To me, booking a tour impromptu like that would mean expecting Murphy's Law, especially booking a 4 hr tour at 2 pm when your boat leaves at 7:30?? Crazy. That said, perhaps the Tourism Authority can help those your companies have better systems, because this only reflects on the island. Just that simple negative review can throw people off, whereas it's not a true reflection at all.
2pm tour makes it good timing by 6pm and 1,5h before departing. The company specifically delayed the tour as much as possible trying to collect more people. More over they put us on a slow fishing boat that cut into our time to explore the island. They knew that we did not. They scamed us.

We totally agree. BUT this tour was “land & sea” and yes no one pointed out certain things promised. So I do agree we passed them.

We did not notice steep drops but roads are narrow, windy, and drivers do not respect driving rules. Do not recommend driving there yourself
