This is a reason why I'm not fully in to the whole skill tree thing; not all the characters equaly benefit from them and many of the skill trees could just be reworks or qol updates but they have some or many useless add ons. They could be broken down to 3 categories: those who need a complete rework, those that need only a buff on existing abilities and those that just need at most if anything a slight tweak or addition. Wurts merm guards are already powerful by themselves and imo don't need anything more. Personally, I (and many others) generally wanted some kind of fishing/farmerms to add to Wurt's playstyle of being a civilization builder minigame. So far her skill tree doesn't seem wurt it.
the characters in this game were not created equal. skill trees and reworks are meant to raise up all of the characters but some more than others so they are on an equal playing field with other character's and their reworks. The way this is now is way better than a couple years ago when wolfgang, wx78, and wicker were all extremely dominated meta characters and playing anyone else would be wasteful. solely comparing wurt and winona's skill trees is missing the point because wurt was already a good character, winona wasn't so she needed the extra leg up

@@Lucas-ow6kr some characters immediately benefit from their affinity skills (wolfgang and willow for example) and for some reason other characters need post end game items. skill trees have a difference between reworks, since you can choose what you need and that supposed to add varying playstyles and perk picks, but if not all then most of skill trees are one sided with a meta branch and other perks are just useless fillers. Why even make skill trees in the first place if you don't use their main purpose of having to choose between equally powerful perks to make varying play styles on the same character? Klei will never answer this question.

Its hard to explain but I think skill trees should be possible evolutionary paths of your abilities but a lot of the paths here suck with only one being the one the character should've been able to do by default anyways. Refer back to Woodie, he sucked before his skill tree.
Something to note is that Winonas perks that buff her structures in some way such as attack speed and aoe of catapults, efficiency of generators and gemerators, spotlights having bigger radius and heating effects - all these effects apply when she crafts any of it meaning you could have different buildings for various purposes such as spotlights with and without heating effect just standing at base so you could switch to default light in the summer. Or have catapults have slower or faster firing rate if you're looking into some more precise timings for farms and such as well as aoe if that matters. Or you could just get these perks, craft as many fast shooting / big aoe pults as you want along with heating / cold spotlights and most efficient generators for your base and farms to then spend her points into all lvl 3 shelf skills that are actually forced to be taken in order to benefit from these. It doesn't seem to apply to how fast items recharge and sleepmode but you'd probably get them anyway.

Xd No, we have so powerful character. Merm now are absolutely good. Merms are fast as workers and 6 merm with all buffs defeat dragonfly, yes 6, it is sick.
Not really. Wurt is a goddess now. Try her skills out in an actual playthrough. You will see what I mean. King’s quest skills are really powerful. You essentially get an invisible armor once you give merm king the required items. Pair that with her high hp and wetness armor, she becomes immortal. I do wish they would give us farm merms and maybe fisher merms just so that we can automate farming(even if it’s just to harvest) a little bit. But honestly, wurt has always been strong and is now even stronger.
cmon dude she can already ignore all the seasons with fish, get a permanent sanity boost, get pretty much permanent stat buffs, has an army to fight for her that lets her pretty much have infinite jellybeans, and more. She really didn't need any buffs this is just a little bonus lmao
Not to mention that she can get a free thulicite club and instant speed boosting arena. Wurt is extremely good before and now overpowered with a skilltree
Here is my idea about wurt skiltree -Amphibian skills should be reworked. Sanity or health increase overtime may be buffed -Temperature resistance while being wet may be more efficient I really loved the wetness shield stuff but it just doesnt deserve a lot points. With the changes I listes above amphibian part could be useful About the merm skilltree -Tool and armor hut skills should not have 2 upgrade. You just waste your points to get better equipment for merms. Additional skills can be added instead of these. Finally about lunar and shadow affinity skills. I dont fullt understand shadow part because game crash. However lunar stuff is kinda great, with some adjusment both skills could be useful
Btw shadow skils u use pure horror or rod and when merm die spawn shadow merm u can use pure horror again to buff shadow merm it little stupid and propably klei little change it because lunar merm we buff one time.

Shadow merm deal less damage. BTW when cast this spell merm and shadow merm can spawn shadow tentacle to beat enemy. Before cast spell we must take merm foods.
Honestly Wurt's amphibian skills don't seem bad at all She already breezes through rain and Spring, but her wetness temperature also makes her breeze through Summer and even potentially Winter (and wetness is reliably obtained from certain clothing, so that won't be a problem) Wurt also breezes through day to day sanity problems by just carrying a fish, but getting health/armor from wetness also makes her breeze through day to day health problems. And since she doesn't really need healing or sanity for boss fights (merms carry) she may never have to cook sanity/health foods on the late-game Sure temperature/sanity/healing are easy to deal with, but Wurt's whole appeal is having a rocky early-game but a really relaxed late-game. And I'd argue her amphibian skills land really well into this playstyle I can genuinely imagine a late-game Wurt player wearing an ice cube just to have a relaxed experience thanks to only having to worry about food.... The mosquito stuff suuuuuuuucks though
Sanity when wet is useful for long worlds where spring comes around and you don't want to make rain gear. When playing Wurt that way, I got constantly attacked by nightmares. The detail is that she doesn't get cold from rain, she just loses sanity.
Ngl tho sanity maybe a good option when u are carrying certain things and would need the rain to regain your sanity while being chased by terror beaks cuz those guys are pretty deadly when at low hp or in swarms

As a Wurt main I can say that, her skill tree is kinda good (especially the affinity with lunar and shadow on the guard merms), but the truth is that Wurt deserved a merm civilization builder skill tree instead, that's literally what's make her unique in my opinion, so if they just added merms variants (fisherMerms/farmerMerms) it would have been way better than just buffing her... Like she was already strong enough, just giver her variants for a civilization and that would be nice as fuck

Webber's refresh came 2 years after Wurt's release, and she never got a refresh at all while he had the biggest one ever, so his kit's a lot newer than hers was and has a lot of still modern design direction that came in after Wurt was made. She needed the skill tree a lot more than he does.

Wurt's immune to wetness sanity drain. If you're having sanity issues with her, you're either not carrying a live fish or you're carrying fish meat.
