I've been making my way through T. Kingfisher's books, and I'm excited to read this one! I've really enjoyed A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking and A Sorceress Comes to Call
Your review has me absolutely pushing Nettle & Bone up on my TBR! I love the quest trope, especially with a rag-tag band of folks, so this sounds right up my alley! I read Thornhedge by Kingfisher, which is another day fairytale retelling, and I loved how she spun some tropes on their head. It was only a novella though, so very brief!
Oh cool! I’ll have to check out Thornhedge. If you like those elements I mentioned, I think you’ll really love the story. There’s a reason Bone is in the title, but I didn’t bring it up so as not to spoil it. It’s really cute lol.
Thanks for the review, Chas! Hope you’re doing well. I’ve not read any T Kingfisher yet, but hopefully someday, lol! My TBR is definitely not getting any shorter…
I was excited to see on GoodReads that you were reading this book because I really enjoyed T. Kingfisher's "Clocktaur War" duology and the humorous way in which it was narrated, and I have Nettle & Bone on my shelf awaiting my attention, so it's a shame that it ended up being just a middle of the road book for you even though you did enjoy it.
Yeah it made me sad too, but it’s definitely worth reading once. I don’t feel like my time was wasted, and I definitely plan to read more of their books. I’ll have to check out the Clocktaur War. Thanks Josh!
Great review Chas. I have read about 4 chapters in one of Kingfishers others books and was really enjoying the humor. For some reason though I kept thinking this book was by Ava Reid whenever i heard about it and so I had no interest it lol. I might have to check this out in the future sounds like it would be a good inbetween books or just quick read.

Oh yes it’s definitely a good in between book. I think you would like it quite a bit. Thanks Alyssa! 😊
I've been thinking about reading this book to see if I want to read her new release
Yeah that’s a good idea. That’s one reason I did it too, and I do want to read them now.
I started this but dnf it. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood and will try it again later.
Oh yeah maybe so. It could also be that it’s just not for you. Thanks Jan! 🙂
Mixed feelings much? 😅
Haha yes, definitely mixed, but overall good.
