It’s sandstorm
🔥🔥🔥🔥fire track
Ahhh yes King is so dope
hahahaha bruh, i came straight to the comment section in search for that 🤣🤣🤣 the moment he unmuted the rest of the instruments, I was like "WOAHHHH"

I really appreciate how SSL makes their own plugin interface. You know it's from them because of the look. Also, the plugin sounds great!
that can be said for a bunch of developers though, iZotope, Sonible, Melda, Tone Empire, Fabfilter are just a few. It's visual identity after all.
And I'm sure they appreciate that $300 that you'll be giving them 😂
I like the ssl interface so much that I bought their channel strip even though I had 2. They work very well with my controller, and they just feel so natural and familiar, not to mention stable. Channel and bus comp on every mix for me.
Yeah agreed, and I actually love the analog looking plugins. They are intuitive imo.
Are we gonna ignore how good that song is ???? Damn!
Reminded me of Conner Reeves - check out his album Earthbound if you don’t know it… great songs and a a brilliant production.
@@Tony-yp7ok Thanks mate! Appreciated.
I think what makes the SSL G3 sound so sweet on the track is what it does to the kickdrum especially in the chorus. The kick sounds much heavier and punchier but in a very smooth way. One can feel the weight without it sounding to aggressive and jumping out of the mix. I really like that.
The SSL definately sounds fuller to my ears compared to the Fabfilter Pro MB!!
My SSL G compressor is even gluier - so what you can do is to open up Waves Studio Rack - then add the Multi-Band-Split function x 5, and add the Waves SSL Buss Comp 5 times !!! Even if the Waves emulation of the SSL Buss Comp isnt the best this works well in a blind test !! - Enjoy !!
I love the visual representation on the bottom.. I think it will help people just beginning in the multi compression realm
I was thinking of building this in 2009-2010 but didn't have the budget for parts (built only the casual bus comp in 2008) and then went totally ITB. Awesome to see them do this as a plugin :)
1:30 logical fallacy: penicillin didn't exist prior to 1895 but it was a must have since.
Why do these companies always put the bypass button on the opposite side of the UI from the output knob? If they are not going to add autogain at least dont make it as hard as possible to AB and then adjust it.
That’s a really good fucking point!
How much time and rsi would be shaved off during level matching, if the bypass and output knobs were always a tiny distance for a mouse to travel?
Ironically, SSL is THE company that would take that to heart.
Their entire existence, long before UA-cam existed and mere mortals knew their name, they’ve worked to make mixing more ergonomic by Listening to their users.
Hm. I made a shortcut to bypass single or all insert slots. So I don't even have to move the mouse away. Doesn't your DAW offer that option?
@Mansardian I use all the DAWs, but yes. Which is why I didn't think of what he commented.
But essentially that's you and I working around a pretty common problem.
As a UI best practices default, you Know that every plugin should be level matched. I hear lots of complaints about plugins Not including Auto-Gain in 2023.
But I've never heard anyone point out that the two functions should Obviously be right beside each other.
I've been using SSL plugins since the "Duende" days, and they really nail it.
That is insane brought the drums in front of the vocal how? this is crazy how smooth and nondestructive this multi band is wow
wow thats crazy wow wow wow its insane
Whyte, the G3 does auto gain when you hold the Shift key. Almost all the controls will auto gain with their counterparts when holding the shift key. 😊
After listening to your comparison with the Pro MB and can hear a clear colorization on the G3. It sounds more pleasant on G3.
That's good to know. Thanks
I agree, It also sounds a bit more open on the G-3 to my ears. The Pro MB is cool but it sounds a bit closed.
1:41 - immediate fell in love with the interface. If you just put the meters next to each other, then it looks like it would be perfect. Wow.
Amazing how lifeless the mix sounds without the MB compression.
Wow, it really is adding extra glue in comparison.
Will look out for this one
One thing I realized about the latest SSL plugin update - and especially the new ones like the de-ess and stereo mastering EQ (haven't tried the multibus yet so thanks for this review) - they have really went deep into sound coloring. Oh, and yeah - I use SSL plugins heavily for day-to-day work.
I always have the SSL bus comp in my mix bus while compressing the low end in a different stage so it wouldn´t hurt to have this one ;) and I like the way it looks, thanks.
I have been doing this for a very long time by using abletons glue compressor. Duplicate so you have x3 and then use the sidchain function to set one as a low pass, one as mid and the last one as a high pass. Put a utility at the end so you have a main output. Group it together and there you go. You can do the same thing with abletons standard compressor.
...lol....hard work :)
I've been doing this using the SSL Bus Comp in Waves' Studiorack. A bit fiddlier than having it all in one sleek interface, but does the job very well.
i use most of the ssl plugins and so I am used to there interface. If you press that chain link by all the gain knobs it will link input and output and you can link the makeup gain and threshold
Sounds amazing. Love it.
3 things the SSL G3 does in this clip that the Pro MB does not:
1) There's more click to the attack
2) The high band release is less transparent, giving it almost a Dolby B noise reduction sparkle
3) There's some weird pumping/breathing in a few parts of the song that don't happen with Pro MB
To me, the Pro MB is very transparent whereas the SSL G3 sounds unavoidably compressed here.
i've been using the SSL bus compressor religiously on every single mastering project. No other bus compressor has given me such a good, tight, yet punchy sound in elements of a mix like the kickdrum (which is seen here as well, compared to the MB result which "mutes" a bit the transient). Can't recommend their compressors enough. Definitely grabbing this one for use both in mixing and mastering.
It certainly added some magic dust to that track. I'm a big fan of SSL plugins, especially the native channel strip and bus compressor. Intuitive interfaces with just the right amount of visual feedback and they sound really good even without oversampling. I'll definitely be checking this out.
However, the Channel Strip could benefit from a bit more saturation, IMHO. It's a little too clean, and the HQ button provides little to no benefit.
I was a bad boy and listened just over my TV speakers but even on them I could hear some of the SSL magic. The FabFilter stuff seems very transparent but I just love the colour of the SSL- it is almost objectively better on the kick when the comparison kicks in at the end
Never thought I'd consider something over ProMB. There's something about the interface that is concrete, what you see is what you get, and hearing the results speak for themselves. ProMB is very user friendly and efficient but does give the option to use many bands and overcook quite easily. I'm not sure I'm the greatest fan of ProMB's percentages for attack and release instead of time either, its a bit confusing considering every other plugin displays time.
I've just got it and it is SOOO good on the mix bus! It adds character even when off! I have FF MB too for more complex work but I find the G3 faster to use. Subscribing to the SSL collection has been one of my best decisions! Tx!
A point missing about fabfilter is that you could add multi and drive with Saturn. The crossovers would have to be the same though, which could maybe be done by assigning Pro-MB and Saturn crossovers to a macro. 🤔
YES! About time too - the GLUEIEST GLUE COMPRESSION!
I love your reviews bro. I'm interested on what you'd have to say about Black Rooster Audio plugins tho.
I own a few ssl plugins, it is the only brand where I do actually like the "hardware" look. But would like to see in the bottom window a curve of the signal instead of some kind of volume indicator.
You could use the Fabfilter Saturn 2 to add saturation to the Pro MB, a lot more versatile saturation options but also a lot more work to dial it in compared to the SSL, and Fabfilter having it as a separate plugin is their way of making more money! Great vid as always, thanks for posting!
You made them sound almost identical but that bottom on SSL. Oh man sounded freaking good when you pushed harder.
I tried their SSL bus comp 2 some months ago and it was very pleased by its transparency compared to other emulations. Im wondering if its possible to use this plugin as a 1-band compressor like a normal SSL, considering it would offer more posibilities also at a lower price compared to the bus comp 2.
I used it on a song and really like it. The only thing is the Logic Song was on an external SSD, and the "System overload - disk too slow" kept popping up. After moving the entire song to my internal drive it was fine. I don't know if anyone experienced the same thing but this plugin requires a fast SSD. I'm on a M1 Mac Studio Ultra so the computer should be fast enough.
Impressive, like the sound !
What mic are you using? Sounds excellent!
For a moment at 1.40 when questioning why its a must have, you did a perfect facial expression of Garth from Wayne's World.
Why is analogue multiband hard, that sounds like another interesting video (like the oversampling one last week)
This looks great. As a glue I use Cytomics "the glue". A multi band of that would be sweet. I mean I've made one using FL Studios Patcher and crossover filters or you could always split into 3 mixer tracks...but it's always better in one plugin isn't it
The glue is highly slept on
I like the song, but the first thing I noticed is that the bass needs taming. I think you adjusted for it later on. I really enjoyed your review of the plug-in.
I'm evaluating this right now, and I think it's an excellent tool, although I am wondering out loud about how other multiband compressor licenses that I own could largely fit the same bill... I would recommend comparison with PSP's Old Timer MB and McDsp's 6034 Ultimate MB. Alternatively, one could load multiple VST3 versions of SSL bus comp into Waves Studio Rack, but the user experience is very cludgy compared to the dedicated interface of this plug... In playing around with it, I'm struck by the excellent sound and workflow. My free trial ends in 2 weeks and it flips to rent to own... I'm leaning towards not interrupting that flip.
song is great, plugin is great, you are great bro, keep the good work up!!!
Please, can you tell me where you got that awesome hoodie!
Well shit!...that's really good isn't it!. On top of that "SSL sound", the addition of the drive control is a deal maker!. You can almost remix a track.........but the best thing about it is, SIMPLICITY!. Everything is clear and right in front of you. No hidden menus or duel function "buttons". Anyone can understand this and make it work, from novice beginner to advanced pro.
Well done SSL 😏👏👏............Dance Storm never sounded so alive!!
Which mic are the vocals recorded in by the way . They sound so good like the industry sound.
wow nice review ssl mb made that track come alive!!
thank you for the link
that vocal with the drive settings thooooo DANG
So if I have the ssl bus comp and the free waves studio rack I can do the same thing?
I love the control layout, some multiband plugins are not clear about what the setting’s actually are.
This ssl multiband compresor sounds very good! It's give a warm that is really good to have in your Mixbuss. Sound really nice, the pro MB feel a little bit too flat compared to the SSL
Yes its all subjective but I agree. The ssl sounds more open to me and FF sounds nice but kind of closed up or flat as you say, which might be desirable for a certain type of song.
I love this guy so much
I'd be interested in hearing this up against the Minimal Audio Fuse Compressor that came out yesterday!
I made this in my mastering template years ago, and yeah it sounds great. No need to buy this plugin, just make it yourself right?
I like compression to be as transparent as possible.. Some hardware compressors can add a sonic dimension that's pleasing and in that case cool.. I don't know if I've heard a software compressor/multiband do that intangible pleasing sonic thang !
Dude your funny, and spot on…tx for the info and 😂
You should do review of the arx afterburner compressor, you had 4 different bands if you have two of them
I will use my Finalizer Plus (hardware) until the day it dies; always put it on the master buss and I love what it does. If it dies, I'll consider this plugin.
Hi! Did you ever try the Halo Metric multiband? That one is even glueierder! plus it has an audio gain per channel, very handy if used wisely :P
PSP Oldtimer MB also very nice! But I like this one too. Actually 199 is a bit to expensive if you have already alternatives.
Mult the signal (via flock?) into 3x Ultraviolet EQs chained into 3x 500 series G-Comp? Or am I missing something?
Great video as always!!!!! Man, please put the name of the group that you were playing. I know you mention them all the time but I think I'm spelling the name wrong. I need all their albums in rotation. They are dope!
I'm on vacation so I haven't tried the software for myself yet, but on their website it indicates it integrates with the 360 ecosystem, can anyone explain how? I haven't seen any information about it.
This thing sounds great. Love that spongey compression sound. Definitely gonna pick this up
I love the interface personally
Thank you for making the video. I think I like SSL just too much and I am using a lot of their products.... well - I cannot think of not using their products since I like those a lot. Weirdly enough - SSL mix sounds like SSL - warm and nice whereas Fabfilter - Clinically clean but functional. So, I guess Fabfilter is good for mastering since it leaves no traces whereas SSL is good for anything else (in my opinion). Thanks again for making a nice video!!!
This thing is it on masterbus....Track Comp, Wiess MKII Full Bus Comp, this one and Lindell MBC....4 best mastering comp vsts out there
I think I've found my new favorite 2-bus compressor. 😃
PS: I like the design of the interface.
Please, do tell the name of the artist and song, I really liked the song
Sounds like King Sis
very smooth...and lush, right?
I'd like to know too
Without a doubt Sandstorm by Darude
King Sis - Day 1
Bro was trying so hard to not like the plugin haha, thanks for the review bud ! ❤
I bought the hardware ssl fusion and it changed my life
Great video 🎉
Good mix
Lindell MBC...is basically the same thing...but API.....I can this and Lindell MBC are probably the best idea on master bus because because You can Compress and Balance out your Highs lows and Mids at the same time
Wow that really sounds buttery! I used to really like the old SSL bus comp. This also sounds really tempting! :O
What mic you use?
TC Electronic MD4 is on another level for mastering purpose.
The song is an absolute banger.
Killer video. But that song… oh man.
Nice :) the SSL gives it some kind of 3D + vocal up :) sub si very different with fab
I liked the upside down shot you should do it more often! ;)
Oxford'da kompressör vardı da biz mi kullanmadık?
Also, de mix is a great sounding one
I like skeuomorphs. I know that pure functional GUIs are very much en vogue, but I find them boring and I like the immediate familiarity you have with interfaces that mimic original designs. Add the UC1 to it and the experience comes close to using a console. At least for SSL’s channel strip, bus compressor and 4K B.
And, hey, they didnt add fake wooden panels to the GUI ! 😅
Fabfilter adds more space in comparison, while vocal is centered less harmonic at SSL.Less movement also with SSL.
Pro MB is clear and/or surgical, and G3 is musical. Both very useful but expensive. Thx White Sea!
Love the vibe in the song. Who are the artists?
darude 🙁
I found the Shadow Hills Mastering compressor to be the vibest , colourful, transparent and gluest compressor ever.
Very nice song!
I like the SSL plugin interface to be honest. It reflects quality.
This SSL G3 is on my wishlist. The interface is fine with me, more important there's a nice jar of glue built-in.
I'm not a fan of FabFilter, some sound like they're doing a good job, but there's something about them that makes me go meh.
For me the SSL sounds more focused/in your face in the midrange, than the Fab. If that is a matter of settings, or the actual plugin, I don't know. But I like it in this example.
Dang!!! I wish they had a controller for this , so I can control on the Master Bus!
ssl nucleus does it all
Who's the track (actually) by?
It's cool, but I'm definitely not paying $199 for that. Your favorite glue compressor (ex. Bx Townhouse) plus DDMF Metaplugin while give you even more control, plus excellent oversampling options. Heck, there's nothing preventing you from throwing ProMB into DDMF, in seperate band splits, combined with your sautrator of choice.....aside from that ProMB wins with its extensive processing ability, such as its sidechain toggle, excellent lookahed, mid/side feature set. Etc
2:17 Your Slate Digital review very much says otherwise LOL
The Track is FIRE🔥🔥🔥
Damn, link to the song pls?
Waited and waited to purchase something like this. Bought this a week ago after watching this video, and instantly fell in love with it. So subtle but colorful and gluey. Just what I needed personally
who is the artist and name of song?
Song name and artist?
