The fact that this poor actress battled an eating disorder, suffered from depression, hated the job and had a complicated relationship with her mother, yet she still did an amazing job as Sam, proves that she is awesome:)

You know what I love about the sandwich scene? Even at 8, although Carly was sweet and kind, she wasn't a pushover. She had a backbone of steel, and she knew how to stand up for herself.
And that is probably why Sam liked her. No one ever probably stood up to her like that.

Its a shame Sam isn’t in the reboot, but I respect Jennette’s decision as she has to put her mental health before anything else. She may have quit acting but she was still great at it nonetheless.
