You've no idea by how many times I've cried playing the story. Can you imagine fighting a boss while tearing up like a little kid as a grown up man ? Yea that was me, multiple times.. We welcome you heartfully !
That’s a sign of a good story~! how wonderful! I want to play it already but need to wait until Friday. Wish time would fly by faster! Also, thank you for the welcome!
@@jeremiahtorrevillas4396 It's understandable that you're lacking empathy, but there's no need to mention it so. I enjoyed the stories deeply and so did the others. I wish you'll find stories that you'll enjoy greatly and may it bring tears to your eyes, and fills your heart 🙏
@ your welcome when you have time to play it then you’ll be really joins in the Punishing Gray Raven fans communities and I am a veteran so we will be very happy to a another freshmen with us
I heard you're gonna be covering the story in PGR, Story CCs in PGR are really scarce, so really appreciate to stumble upon your vid today. Welcome to PGR and hope you have a fun ride reading through PGR story. Looking forward to seeing your story analysis in the future.
I sure am! Looking forward to analyzing the characters' development and the themes of the story -- and then relating them to our own lives! I'm personally not super focused on lore bits and story summaries (or things like that) for video essays, but it'll be fun to experience the story firsthand in the livestreams instead~
@@Trailblazer_Ririna genuinly the story in this game wont dissapoint you, it has a bit of a rough start and takes a bit to properly pick up the pace but by chapter 9 the story really starts to get a groove and beyond becomes somthing genuinly increadible.
@@spoott4085 Haha I don't know how long it'll take me to reach it, but I look forward to crying my butt off while playing this game. It'll be a fun fun journey~ XD
Wuthering Wave's color is only muted if you don't turn down the brightness setting. For some reason it's broken and acts more like a gamma than a brightness slider.
There was such a bug?!? I did mess with the settings myself when I did play, but it was difficult to understand what the problem was exactly. Still, I'm not very fond of open world games, so I'll probably enjoy this one more than WuWa in general. But good to know that the game isn't actually muted in color!
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Yeah, when you said PGR was more colorful than WuWa I was like, huh? Wait it's very much the opposite xD PGR is a very bleak game and the world very much reflects that. WuWa was very much like that during its beta and people kept complaining so they added WAY more color than PGR players were used to.
@@Trailblazer_Ririna it also doesn't help that kuro isn't quite there yet in open world game optimization compared to Hoyo and Genshin impact. It reminds me of astral chain and the frame rate dimension boss arenas lol.
Glad to see more people looking at PGR! I look forward to more. Heres some stuff about the game that may or may not have been covered already by other comments: The story takes eight chapters to get going, but gets increasingly better the further you go after that. To give a brief explanation of the orbs, they get generated by doing normal attacks and function in the place the skill button does in WuWa. Most characters have a core passive mechanic built around using the orbs that makes their gameplay unique, and learnig each character basically always boils down to their orb management and timing. It looks confusing from the outside but is pretty easy to get into. Gearing characters is very straightforward, in that you farm seven specific gear pieces and you're done, with basically no RNG or substat malding required unless you really want to minmax minimal stat buffs. I think it maths out to getting enough materials from playing the game to build two or three characters completely per patch. Doing dailies takes about ten or fifteen minutes when you get into the swing of things, and the weekly quests boil down to about two dozen boss fights or wave clear missions. The weeklies give the bulk of the gacha currency, but the dailies give decent enough rewards and are so easy to accomplish that you might as well do them too if you're going to play. There are a variety of community resources for finding builds and the like for the characters that break it down very well.
Oooo, thank you very much for the explanation about the orbs and gearing! I think the gearing is especially useful to know. Makes me glad that it's not as complex or difficult, compared to other games I've checked out in the past~
Oh God GhostFinal - Last Resort, chills, every time that last drop hits , first time i heard it i said "i thought this song was incredible , but then when i heard the last drop tears started pouring out of my eyes and i realized this song wasn't just incredible , this was a masterpiece"
21:55 Most long-term players play with JP audio because its what they're used to since it took so long to get an EN dub, but I personally play with the EN dub and think its really good.
I heard that there were problems where they would use JP dub for the cutscenes, even if they chose EN dub. Is that true? That's one of the reasons why I'm considering going for JP dub when I play (for mostly consistency reasons).
@@Trailblazer_Ririna the earlier cutscenes are still like that but the newer chapters' cutscenes and trailers are fully dubbed (since Hypereal Lee's patch I think?) I personally didn't have a problem with it since the story isn't voiced and there aren't many cutscenes with dialogue at the start anyway, but I understand why it could bother people.
@@Trailblazer_Ririna English Dub is now implemented for story cutscenes starting from Chapter 15. It might be awkward at the start, but I highly recommend you play in Eng Dub. It's fantastic.
So excited! Glad you are checking this out! It is one of my main gacha I play! Its a very F2P friendly gacha as well! Alpha is one of my favorite characters to play along with her being voiced by Yui Ishikawa! 💖She also does voice Lucia as well.
I'm not sure about the F2P friendly part considering how many banners there are to actually build character and farming BC isn't actually easy if you're new to the game
@@kingzein7384 Is that only the case if you're doing more endgame content? Or does this also apply to main story stages? Just wondering if I need to actually focus on building characters a lot when getting into this game.
@@Trailblazer_Ririna yup, but if you playing casual (like me) Alpha can get you go through the story without any problem since they will make you play trial character in boss fight most of the time
Pgr is extremely f2p friendly but it's also probably one of the more punishing gacha when it comes to actually spending on it. Every other character is basically free and either doesn't need more than one 10 roll or can be bought from a shop, and the game gives you enough cards to guarantee an s-rank every other month as well. So as long as you do your dailies and weeklies your guaranteed any new characters. But when it comes to actually putting money in, you don't buy the gacha currency. You buy a separate paid currency that can be used for a few things like being converted into the gacha currency, but that's the worst way you can use it since it's a 1-1 conversion and it cost like 60$ per 10 roll. Basically if you can't get an s-rank character with what you have for free you're screwed for the most part. I think this is why paid costumes became more frequent later on, since no one is gonna pay for rolls since the conversion is so bad, but buying costumes is relatively cheap in comparison.
Pretty much all of the songs you listened to are very focused around a particular character but are used for as the boss theme for their chapters. They also typically use a section of the track as a menu of background theme
BRUV YOU HAVE ONLY SEEN HALF OF THE CHARACTERS IN 17:15 BECAUSE THAT IS VERY OUTDATED, THE VIDEO IS 2 YEARS OUTDATED, THERE SHOULD BE 10+ NOT ADDED IN THE VIDEO AND THEY'RE THE BEST ONES TOO(you'll love qu shukra)
I should really check out more music from this game, but also, tempted to wait until I start playing the game officially too. haha Let me know if you enjoy the game!
The Ult compilation is a tad out of date, as some units have hit Global since then. Including a mermaid, an archer with a Persona (or Stand, depending on how you look at it), a new alter for Watanabe (the dual dagger user) and a new collab unit, Black☆Rock Shooter.
Woah, I guess it's a lot more than I thought that the ult video missed! I knew it was probably missing a good amount though since it's not super recent.
@Trailblazer_Ririna Also, some more tracks to consider: To Our Destiny, Moonlit Occultation, Under Dimension and Crossing Eternities. Also, Evans Gambit, from the Black☆Rock Shooter collab.
If I recall correctly first 6 chapter are just introduction for characters and factions which establish how things are in the world. After ch 7 things actually starts to happen. There r quite alot of factions, purhape 2 or maybe 6 of them And two biggest of them have sub factions. Each of them Trying to do what they want to do even after world have gone to shit.
Oo, sounds like there is going to be a lot of political stuff going on then in this game! I think I should be able to get through the first 8 chapters in the first livestream this Friday~ So I'll def look forward to learning more about those factions!
PGR essays??? Someone who seriously wants to get into the story???? Well, sign me up. We have needed someone like that since release xD 15:18 "I assume parrying is preferable to dodging". The opposite actually. You need perfect dodges for better orb management, also there is only a very limited number of attacks that CAN even be parried. The Mother Structure just happens to be the only boss in the game you NEED to parry xD
Are there... really not enough people who analyze the story, characters, or themes for this game?? I thought I saw someone who summarized the story but then again, most videos tended to be gameplay stuff, now that I think about it. But still... I expected more lore and story CC's since this game is known to have a good story. XD Well, I guess I'll be one of the rare ones then! Somehow, I'm also really glad that dodging is more preferable than parrying, mostly because I'm super bad at timing the parrying for games. XD My reaction time is abysmal. hahaha
@@Trailblazer_Ririna it's hard to find reddit posts or anyone talking about the story via text, let alone video essayists discussing the ideas presented
@@Trailblazer_Ririna To my knowledge there is a single smaller CC that recently started summarizing the story. The emphasis is on "recently", the game has been out for three years now^^' So no... not really any noteworthy lore content to be found. And the few people who did at some point do lore videos... only did so for a very short time.
@Trailblazer_Ririna Part of the reason is because PGR is not as well known as Kuro's other game Wuthering Waves (despite PGR being out way longer than WuWa).
The game is F2P friendly and even if it's difficult it's casual friendly too, at the later and harder story stages, there are infinite revives during boss fights so you're good, the earlier stages don't have those revives so get ready to Mald at the bosses, each character has their preludes and extra stories so you have a lot of content to read through, and the game gives you free S Ranks like they're candy so yeah, you don't need to swipe. And yes Karenina aka white hair girl in Last Resort is a Tsundere towards the Commandant aka Us the player.
When you say later story stages, is it after the midpoint (of what's currently out)? Or just after Chapter 8? I can't wait to read the stories for the characters the most though. And seeing what characters I get!
@Trailblazer_Ririna it's either chapter 8-12 where the difficulty spikes up and gives you revives, I'm not sure since it's been a while since I've played through the story, oh and the later chapters are more character focused as well, after chapter 12 they focus on a single character instead of multiple ones, but the story does still progress. Edit: Some bosses don't have visual attack indicators so you either have to look closely when they move or listen for a sound cue, normal mobs both have a sound cue and a visual indicator before they attack, parrying is also limited to certain bosses, most of them in the later stages i mentioned after chapter 8 or 12. Edit again: you can get Alpha in the beginner banner, you can pick any S Rank you want and you'll get it within 40 pulls, but that's only once per each account and will only reset during the 5th anniversary which is around december 2025 since CN is ahead of Global. Debut banners are 100% guaranteed on pity which is 60 pulls weapons have a 70/30 rate and stay even after the patch ends, starter banner is 80/20 for A Ranks and you get a Random S Rank after 60 pulls. They give you 2 free S Rank selectors at the start as well as a 5 star weapon selector for beginners.
@@Trailblazer_Ririna I almost forgot to say, you don't have to worry about the game lagging, i play on a Samsung A52s 5g and it's literally running 60-90 fps on max graphics no frame drops whatsoever.
31:22 The character from this song her name starts with a K, but from the trailer there is a character's name that starts with an N so that might be why you remembered that. But you described her perfectly being a Tsundere and only by just the image of her! 46:13 This song is so iconic for the game & the PGR Community! One of my favorite songs as well!
HECK YEAH!!! It feels good to get it right. haha Now, I'll forever remember her as THE tsundere~ This game def has a lot of songs that I like. I especially love how they make use of the choir and emptiness purposefully~
don't worry too much about the orb system, its one of those things that you read the tutorial and your brain burns out on, but the first few chapters are relatively easy so you can get used to the system naturally
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Not really, just try to ping trios of orbs of the same color to make the most damage and when you dodge correctly you enter a state of "slow motion", when you are in that state the first orb you use counts as if you were pinging a trio. You'll see that is not that dificult once you try it.
as a long time player of PGR and a fan of what Kuro Games produces. I welcome you to the community! I want you to experience the story too and what Kuro Games can offer. and how it became "Punishing: Gray Raven"
Thank you for the welcome! I am quite curious about the name of the game though. Makes me wonder if I'll learn the potential reasons behind that name in the main story! (But also, everything about the world and its lore~)
The character showcase video is pretty old now, now there are a lot of crazy characters. Also the last 3 characters from that video were collab with nier automata which isa great game too.
The pgr story is genuinly increadible and i get super exited everytime i see more people start to experience it, the only real dowmside, even though i dont really care, is that the story is SUUUUUPER reading heavy, leter chapters can have up to an hour of uninterupted reading without any gameplay, but as they go on they get better at balancing the gameplay and story while still having the story be super detailed.
I don't find that to be too much of a downside, considering that I like Arknights. XD So I guess I should be fine! Glad to hear that they balance the gameplay and story very well later down the road though! It's always rough trying to find that perfect balance~
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Btw, chack Nanami's fight "EPIC MECHA BOSS CLASH - Radiant Marcher". Rexlent did one of banger job in that one by just playing the game.
Welcome to the wonderful world of PGR! The story is absolutely amazing too, but it's EXTREMELY dark and tragic honestly.... It's beautiful though. Just please be prepared since the combat is probably a couple dozen times more difficult than their other game - Wuthering Waves at times. So it has a steep learning curve.
Thank you for the welcome! Tragic = best! At least, when it comes to getting attached, tragedy is always the fastest way to make that happen if done right~ I'll... do my best with the combat. Not sure if I'll do somewhat okay, but will try! XD
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Awesome! I'm sure you'll love it then. Best of luck with the combat too, it can get frustrating at times for sure too though, but i hope it's still fun for ya then.
lol tragic = best in terms of getting attached XD i feel this lol ever since i played pgr, i got more attached to more of the characters here than when i played wuwa which is why it was hard to decide which to pull and skip XD since almost all the chracters in pgr got me attached
You can switch characters. You have a roster of 3 characters that you can switch around but you'll probably see a showcase of it since im just a few minutes in the video lul
Ohhh, so it is like HI3 then! That's cool~ Then I assume that they have special effects too when switching for some characters? I actually didn't see it in the rest of the video, so this is good to know. haha
@Trailblazer_Ririna I honestly don't remember lul it's been a while since I stopped playing but I do remember the leader of the three has a certain effect on the whole team so each character has their own specific team leader buff or something along those lines
@Trailblazer_Ririna Good luck, and I hope you enjoy the gameplay and its story as well! P.S. I hope you give the Mandarin VA a chance. The voice acting is amazing! But you can do what you like. I'll tune into the stream for sure! 👍
@@veritas8083 Ooo, Mandarin VA! I heard that it wasn't available for Global, but if it is, I would love to listen to it in Mandarin one day in the future~
I think I'll watch your analysis or reactions to the story since I don't particularly read it since I focus on game play so its nice to have the journey with you
in terms of orb management, UI and hotkeys, some may say gamepad is better, some may say not. i guess it depends on preference. in my case tho, i use mouse and keyboard. orb usage is 1-9 in keyboard so it's actually easy (for me at least since i've been playing MMOs) compared to controllers, where you use triangle, circle, square, X, L+triangle, L+ circle, and so on. You can even edit the UI positions and sizes in settings just make sure to switch camera type by pressing "Y" in-game as the default camera makes the mouse pointer visible, while the other one turns your mouse into the camera
I don't know if I can use the UI/hotkeys for keyboard and mouse for my iPad, but if I can, I'll try to opt for that instead! But if not, then controller, it shall be since I won't be playing it on PC.
Good job picking up on Karenina's character. She's not the type to hide her feelings, in fact she shows it on her sleeves, but you did get it correctly that she's a MASSIVE Tsundere.

I mean, I still have yet to complete Ayla's main quest (the one in her ice amplifier frame) but does Selena reappear finally after all this time in the story or has she not popped back up yet. I have been waiting and not doing much of the story due to not wanting to get any major content drought. But I am surprised by Selena of all things since I assumed she may get found waaaaaaay later. Then again, considering she is at the bottom, that does make sense lmao. I do always check out the new frames that come out and I really like to theorize what happened and why these characters needed to upgrade in their major moments.
@@alphanightmare6664 Spoiler!!! The end of Ismael chapter Chaos SKK (Chaos ans SKK fusion) reset the timeline timeline before Stigmata story, since SKK was taked the Tower's test and Passed like Lee, Thats why Lee was able to keep the Hyperrail form. IDK how this reset changed somthing Selena's memory's or its gona be a time skip, but we only know how all things what was happend in the prev worldline gonna happen Here too (e.x: Oathblaze gona be build and the tower still gona exist later,) just SKK remember everything.
@@Nekho_hun Spoiler!!!! Ah alright. I figured something happened that allowed Lee to reach a point where he could keep the hyper form plus also coming back from the tower. I am happy to find out that Ismael became a playable character. Always found her character to be really unique and cool. I don't know the story as to what lead to her becoming all that, I just want to know if she is our full supporter and ally. I would assume so considering her influence that seemingly helped us a lot, plus some voice lines I've heard of her combat frame and her demeaner that makes her seem sad, especially when she looks at you. I heard that in the main story, we the commandant actually "died". I know about the whole flashbacks and snippets we got before where commandant was shown to be dead, but apparently somewhere in the main story, I'm guessing with Ishmael, we like died for real, which obviously isn't permanent, but still damn. Also I really wish my boy kamui would get a new frame one day, especially glory. There is one character, I think their an ice character, something that starts with chang who?, but it's hard to tell lel. Can't wait for DMC 5 collab. I am predicting that Dante will be a fire attacker and Vergil a dark attacker. Hell maybe kuro will be extra based and make those two have their own unique element type, which would be crazy insane, but hey, it's kuro lol.
Ay! Count me in! Piece of advice though, the default keyboard binding sucks unless you can handle playing an action game like playing piano. lol. I opted to use mouse pointer for the orb pings (the red, yellow, blue circle skils) or a controller. I highly suggest tweaking the UI to make it look cleaner like removing the joystick. Since you play Arknights and HI3, I think we don't need to remind you of the confusing UI for new players and the plethora of currencies and things to do. lol. If you love dark, mature post-apocalyptic scifi stories and characters, you're gonna love this. It is slow but it gets a lot better, even the side stories. Some of the set design looks straight outof PS2 era though but it gets better lol. They never fail on the character and boss animations though. Welcome to PGR!
I guess I'll either opt for the iPad normal controls or the controller then. haha Might just do the former though since it sounds like the controller sometimes has issues. I suspect that it'll take me a good couple of months before I get used to the UI but even then, I still haven't gotten 100% used to Arknights' UI, so maybe it'll actually reach a year! XD I'm counting down the days of when I'll play it for the first time! Soon! Also, thank you for the welcome~
Rest assured, for story you can relax and pretty much done it without trouble, most of it very forgiving. It categorise hard for some particular contents (Mid-game - Endgame) such as Babel, Norman & ex norman, Stronghold chapter 8 above, also high intensify competition like Warzone Hero & Legend and PPC Ultimate.
Holy... That sounds like another world that I probably won't dive into! XD But it's cool that they have a little bit of everything for different types of players.
@@Trailblazer_Ririnaindeed, however you can be casual and enjoy the game like my guildmates did. He was never so competitive yet he saved so many BC (premium currency for Gacha) compared to me even with monthly. The orbs system skill makes it very unique, so every character have their own orb skill combo. Hence why you saw sometimes the orbs very random, sometimes it was only 2 colours or even 1 color, sometimes there's no orb like Bianca Alter. Have fun, hopefully you enjoy the game x3
If you do video essays for this, I'll be looking forward to your view on several chapters especially towards the middle of the story. Hope you get through the weak beginning chapters and enjoy the stronger parts of the story
Haha I hope I can reach the middle of the story at a good pace! What chapter is considered middle -- just to understand? I heard that the first 8 chapters are focused on world building, so probably no video essays during that, but should be fun to experience, learning more about this world to become more attached (and feel that it's alive)!
@Trailblazer_Ririna Chapters 14-17 are what I would consider the midpoint for global servers which contain a very powerful story arc that I'm particularly interested in.
You weren't too far off with some of them, while for others you got it backwards. So overall I'd say it was a success yippeee I've been watching some of your videos recently, like the Arknights and Nikke ones, and you have always provided me with more food for thought, due to your first time reactions also being analyses on the themes and possible interpretations of the story (either through reading it or by listening to the character/boss theme). Once you read a story that answers pretty much everything, you're usually left with a single interpretation that you take for granted, but I think that there's beauty in hearing other opinions/theories on the same subject by someone who doesn't have the full context yet, sometimes they can blow you away with some crazy theories that make you re-evaluate everything you knew. So yeah, all of this to say that I liked the video a lot lol
YAYYYY!!! Still, I'm glad that I got a few wrong since it'll be fun to realize what it is that I got wrong exactly. It's really nice to hear that you enjoyed my analysis and interpretations of the story for Arknights and Nikke! I love diving deep into story themes and character development whenever I experience a story, and especially relate it to real life (or have it contribute to our own growth as a person), so it's wonderful to have others experience that with me!
The Bianca Alter thing, i think they meant Balter, either way hte character is called Bianca Stigma in english version of the game. And she is my favorite :)
Haha I guess most people don't use a mouse to click on those? In some ways, I'm glad that I'll be using touch controls for my iPad, rather than controller/keyboard&mouse for now.
Oooo, so I guess it's going to be typical for me to die multiple times before understanding the patterns then. Welp, at least, I know what to expect! Thank you for clarifying~
Blanc is one the best PGR players, his playlist slays. While I don't play, the story doesn't pull any punches with dark themes and how the dystopic world shaped the characters and backgrounds. The devs took a lot of inspiration from Nier Autonoma, so expect a lot of existencial crisis and depression. Curious to hear your thoughts!
Oooo, that sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun~ Slightly reminds me of Nikke too with the whole robot thing, which makes me pretty happy. haha I guess I like the whole premise of a dystopian world much more than I thought! Especially considering that I like Limbus Company and Nikke -- and now, potentially this!
i hope you'll enjoy playing PGR. the first few chapters was interesting, but after that it'll be long before you reach another climax. so be patient and enjoy your time. then you'll see how good the story will become
PGR's combat is very mobile game centric as the orb ping system basically replaces the typical 3 skills mechanics a typical action rpg has (examples are WuWa and Honkai Impact 3rd). That's why most of the time during fights you're more focused on managing your orb alignment as oppose to whether to parry a attack or not. Thus the difficulty depends on which character you're using, some characters has simpler orb set-ups while others has a specific procedure to bring their full power. So the learning curve for the game really comes from the orb ping system first, enemies second.
Maybe it would be better to just use the iPad controls as they are, instead of using a controller, if it is mobile centric! I don't suppose some good meta characters have the simpler orb setup? Or is it just the older characters?
@@Trailblazer_Ririnausing a controller is a different kind of nightmare on its own (I started using one as well recently) while there is controller support on the game, it doesn't necessarily make the mechanics easier to play. So starting with the keyboard layout first would be best. As for the characters PGR made way for a system where newer A-Ranks (4*) are more mechanically in-depth while S-Ranks (5*) are easier to play, there's even evidence that they're doing to this for WuWa too. While S-Ranks are the meta in the game, some players don't necessarily enjoy playing them all the time, they just deal the most damage. So some players play the A-Rank units if they want to challenge themselves.
Welcome to the PGR community and my first advice is to change your combat controls to your comfort (that just goes for any game really) and second, play around with the custom UI layout
Thank you for the welcome~ Is the UI layout that's set as default that bad? I feel like I've heard multiple people telling me to play around with the custom UI layout so far.
PGR has the greatest combat systems of all time within the mobile game industry. Hope you have fun with it! Back when I played the story wasnt voiced so get ready to read but maybe they changed it? Though I personally didnt like their minigames and roguelike modes that I felt bloated the game with unnecessary stuff. PGR is at its best when it lets you pick your team and jump straight into combat.
Haha sounds like I'll be voice acting everything myself then when reading the story for the livestream! Should be fine since I read Blue Archive and Arknights at one point. Thankfully, I'll probably avoid the minigames and other stuff, unless they're required for dailies/weeklies, so it'll be less painful (regarding the experience with the unnecessary)!
This is literally the best time to start playing pgr since kuro announced that global servers will soon catch up with the Chinese server which is like a year ahead.
I'm actually quite surprised to hear this! A lot of people I've talked to have said that the story was really good, so I expected more people to be interested in it (and the lore), but then again, it's also known for its gameplay too, so I guess it makes sense why people prefer focusing on that, rather than story. I don't play games for the gameplay at all, so story is all I focus on. haha
My other guess would be that pgr's story telling has this VN formula/style that prob many people (specially the ones who never grew up on classic VNs) would not want. We all know gacha players has a high population of players who dont read so i guess that's it
I hope this game becomes available to more regions, i'm having a blast playing wuwa and this one looks beyond awesome. Btw, on wuwa colors, adjust the brightness setting, lower them and the game gets more color saturation.
I should really try playing WuWa again. Now that some time has passed, I'll have a lot more content to get through, although the open world aspect is what bothers me the most though. XD
Nice! Here are some things about the game: - the world is dark! No such thing as a victory without sacrifice. Also they literally killed a kid to help one of the main characters grow, and they wrote like half a page of the suffering and pain the kid experienced before he died! So prepare yourself! - you don t really have to be afraid of the difficuly. For example, you can t die in boss fights at the end of a story chapter! - first 8 chapters of the game are fillers! Know the world and characters! After that the story gets better and better!
Holy smokes, they wrote that much for one incident?!? It's gonna be a bumpy ride then! Wait, you can't die in boss fights??? I'm somehow very relieved to hear that. haha
you dodge based on experience. on some bosses, the more observant you are, the more you get punished on first battle cuz they will telegraph an attack and either release it earlier or later you parryable attacks are limited and in most cases when the attack has a red or orange glow
Thinking of getting back to pgr. I'm one chapter away from Surviving Luceum but the story kinda got a bit complicated at one point. But I wanna get back to it... Any thing I can check out for a recap?
I heard that Reddit has recap posts? Or was it Twitter... Sorry, I wish I can be of some help! Apparently there is someone who creates story summary videos too, but not sure what their name was. Maybe a different person can help?
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Ahh I see.. I like the visual novel styled gmes. I mean I play games like fate grand order and I like it a lot minus the absurd gacha rates, I stopped around the time Alpha Crimson Weave released. Got everything related to her, built her and dipped. Dunno what I can do to get back to it anymore
@@haridevrajesh7426 I think just installing the game again and then just restart the story might be a good place. Not sure when you started playing PGR, but if you want to play the game for its story, might be a good idea to just restart with your current account or a completely new one and only focus on story!
I would say that PGR's difficulty level is definitely a bit higher. The reason for this is because PGR is one of those games where you cannot really rely on anything else other than skill. Even if you have healers, the heals won't be able to make up for the HP you lose if you continuously get damaged. You need to be able to be very good at dodging in order to be able to keep up with the game because it is super fast paced. The bosses from Chapter 1-7 are fine. Chapter 8 (starting) slowly picks up the difficulty, but Chapter 14 is where it begins to introduce what we should expect from the bosses in future chapters as well as introduce the parry mechanic. And that's not all. The bosses have high HP bars (average 100 HP bars, now getting to 200 HP bars in total if you consider two phases with 100 HP bars each). There's even one boss that I also recommend you check out (if you haven't), which is the Hamlet boss fight. That one shocked me to this day.
Yeahhh, definitely can see that. Chapter 8 was quite a close one (especially since I barely built my characters when I played it)! Gonna have to build them some more and train my reaction speed, while slowly learning the gameplay functionalities one thing at a time (so I don't get overwhelmed). But still, at least, those things can be trained! I'm grateful for that at least.
@Trailblazer_Ririna I still suck at parrying 😂😂😂 but I've learned the hard way regarding stamina honestly. I don't use the stamina unless it's for dodging now because if you run out of stamina, it takes a few seconds for it to start reloading back on stamina
I don't even think I know how to parry yet. haha But I'm having a really hard time with the stamina depletion during dodging! Still keep over-dodging out of panic. I know that I need to switch to other characters when the stamina depletes to keep going, but it sure is hard to establish the habit!
@Trailblazer_Ririna Parrying doesn't come until Chapter 14, so you'll be fine until then! Switching characters help me lower my panic whenever I fail to dodge. A lot of PGR is habit building! Everything will come naturally in no time!
@@YumiRen Woah, that's far off for me then! Somewhat relieving since I'm still establishing basic combat habits. Love that everything is habit building for PGR! Makes the difficulty level a little bit less overwhelming to think about!
You were wrong about Lamia... She is.... Even her opponent shocked about Lamia's painful past and had to fight Lamia to take all her pain so Lamia didn't need to keep all the pain by herself anymore...even now her pain still continues..
If you end up starting sooner the gloabal is trying to sync uo with CN and if it overlaps with the 5th anniversary for the global server you can get 3 free S rank characters !

Thank you for checking out my video~
Glad to see more people looking at PGR! I look forward to more. Heres some stuff about the game that may or may not have been covered already by other comments:
The story takes eight chapters to get going, but gets increasingly better the further you go after that.
It is indeed a masterpiece~ Makes me look forward to listening to more songs from this game in the game itself! hehe

Most long-term players play with JP audio because its what they're used to since it took so long to get an EN dub, but I personally play with the EN dub and think its really good.
I heard that there were problems where they would use JP dub for the cutscenes, even if they chose EN dub. Is that true? That's one of the reasons why I'm considering going for JP dub when I play (for mostly consistency reasons).
@@Trailblazer_Ririna the earlier cutscenes are still like that but the newer chapters' cutscenes and trailers are fully dubbed (since Hypereal Lee's patch I think?)
I personally didn't have a problem with it since the story isn't voiced and there aren't many cutscenes with dialogue at the start anyway, but I understand why it could bother people.
the only language i thing sounds good in this game is cn. i find the en dub to be laughably bad
@@Trailblazer_Ririna English Dub is now implemented for story cutscenes starting from Chapter 15. It might be awkward at the start, but I highly recommend you play in Eng Dub. It's fantastic.
There’s jp audio in global server?
So excited! Glad you are checking this out! It is one of my main gacha I play! Its a very F2P friendly gacha as well! Alpha is one of my favorite characters to play along with her being voiced by Yui Ishikawa! 💖She also does voice Lucia as well.
Oooo, YUI ISHIKAWA?!? I love herrrr~!! Her voice is so iconic! I guess I should choose JP audio then for this game. haha
Ohhh, so they're pretty multifaceted in use then! That's pretty cool~

@@Trailblazer_Ririna The video is missing 4 characters that are currently out on global, if we add the current CN version that number goes up to 14 xD

PGR essays??? Someone who seriously wants to get into the story???? Well, sign me up. We have needed someone like that since release xD
15:18 "I assume parrying is preferable to dodging".
@@YumiRen Makes sense. Still, with the sync coming up, I do hope Kuro markets PGR a lot more in the future!

Does the orb system tutorial have a ton of text or something?!? Well, I guess I won't worry too much about it until later, maybe!
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Not really, just try to ping trios of orbs of the same color to make the most damage and when you dodge correctly you enter a state of "slow motion", when you are in that state the first orb you use counts as if you were pinging a trio. Hehe that would be awesome if you enjoyed the story with me~ especially if it’s something you don’t typically focus on!
in terms of orb management, UI and hotkeys, some may say gamepad is better, some may say not. i guess it depends on preference.
in my case tho, i use mouse and keyboard. orb usage is 1-9 in keyboard so it's actually easy (for me at least since i've been playing MMOs) compared to controllers, where you use triangle, circle, square, X, L+triangle, L+ circle, and so on.
You can even edit the UI positions and sizes in settings
just make sure to switch camera type by pressing "Y" in-game as the default camera makes the mouse pointer visible, while the other one turns your mouse into the camera
I don't know if I can use the UI/hotkeys for keyboard and mouse for my iPad, but if I can, I'll try to opt for that instead! But if not, then controller, it shall be since I won't be playing it on PC.
The analysis of Last Resort was actually not far off at all lol, loved the video overall :)

Thank you for the welcome! WOAH, that is a LOT for sure! Makes me wonder how many characters there are in the game now in total...
@Trailblazer_Ririna i working a up to day Version, i only need search up some body name i forget then i gona upload
(Not gona be the best Quaility, but its gona be fine until some bigger player makes one)
SPOILERS FOR YOU RIRINA DONT REEEEEEEEAAAAAD
Wait Selena is getting a new frame?
I SEE PGR I COME!!
YAYYYYY!!
Pfp💀
now we're talking peak gameplay
It is quite peak from what I've seen so far!
@@Trailblazer_Ririna the story arc that starts with chapter 14 is what I consider the midpoint for global.
You weren't too far off with some of them, while for others you got it backwards. So overall I'd say it was a success yippeee
I've been watching some of your videos recently, like the Arknights and Nikke ones, and you have always provided me with more food for thought, due to your first time reactions also being analyses on the themes and possible interpretations of the story (either through reading it or by listening to the character/boss theme).
Thers more interesting characters and much more amazing OSTs that PGR is specifically known for!
HECK YES! That's what I love to hear~
@@Trailblazer_Ririna And yes, Narwhal is PGR anthem for a good reason.
The Bianca Alter thing, i think they meant Balter, either way hte character is called Bianca Stigma in english version of the game. And she is my favorite :)
Ohhh, Balter! Good to know~
God the fact that the person clicks those orbs gave me existential crisis xD
Haha I guess most people don't use a mouse to click on those? In some ways, I'm glad that I'll be using touch controls for my iPad, rather than controller/keyboard&mouse for now.
hope you enjoy playing this game!!! Welcomeeee
Thank you for the welcome!
Signed up because of the music to the ears statement "I will be covering PGR Story"
I can never be thankful 🥹
Well, you'll def enjoy my VODs then~ And of course, the future video essays! haha
@Trailblazer_Ririna I expect nothing less, thank you!!!
10:00 Blonde guy is probably Xiangli Yao, which is a WuWa 1.2 character (he looks very similar to PGR Lee)
Oooo, so that's who it is! So many blonde guys! haha Hopefully, I can remember them all eventually.
Quick note all the eps are mixed
Meaning they each comprise of
Menu music
Battle Music
Boss music phase 1 and 2 or more \(◎o◎)/
So they're not used as they are? They each contain a portion that is used in various areas of the game? Or am I just confusing myself somehow? haha
@Trailblazer_Ririna mhmm each portion has its own portion in the game and sometimes in the story it's a bit changed too
@@muhammadsulaiman5471 Wow, that's really creative and resource efficient of them to use them like that!
4:33 For most enemies, there's a tell. But with bosses, you just have to learn.
@@Trailblazer_Ririna Nikke took heavy inspiration from PGR in the story department^^
i hope you'll enjoy playing PGR. the first few chapters was interesting, but after that it'll be long before you reach another climax. so be patient and enjoy your time. then you'll see how good the story will become
I will definitely be patient and enjoy the game~
Lesgoooo more pgr content (I've been starving)
HECK YEAH! More content to come, albeit they won't be reaction content~ But rather, livestreams and theme/character analysis video essays for sure!
Pgr is so fun hope you enjoy welcome fellow commandant THE OST IS SO FIYAH🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much for the welcome! Only one more day left before I finally get to play the game~
Lamia is for the boss
Lamia Another Mode is for the Character
Lamia is the character (My cute war criminal)
Ohhh, so that song is for an actual character named Lamia! Can't believe I didn't realize. haha
Ayooo! Didn't expect that at all😮
P. S. With a gamepad it is not that difficult to get used to orb clicking.
Hehe I hope you enjoyed watching the video~
@Trailblazer_Ririna I sure did. Thanks!
I've been WISHING for this to happen for years 😭😭
NGL, I was hoping for this too when I first reacted to PGR, so when I got news that this would happen, I was super shocked!
yep. leggo pgr lore. very few talking about pgr lore. even the people who invited me to play the game, said i'm more story invested than them lol
XD
sorry kind of late but all song was actually a boss fight song 😂 but they did cut some part to put for the story. Btw welcome to PGR, Commandant!
Thank you for the welcome!
Look for "Lucia Raven Feather vs Lucia Alpha" that cinematic is crazy. Also Miyabi (from ZZZ ) has a similar cinematic as well
Oooo, I should check that out some day! Thank you for the recommendation~
Nice! Here are some things about the game:
- the world is dark!
I'm somehow very relieved to hear that. haha
I see people looking into PGR and I will be there. PGR is a great ass game!
Hehe I can see why it's considered a great game just from these gameplay videos and OST videos!
you dodge based on experience. on some bosses, the more observant you are, the more you get punished on first battle cuz they will telegraph an attack and either release it earlier or later
you parryable attacks are limited and in most cases when the attack has a red or orange glow
So that’s how you know when to parry… also, that’s quite scary that you can get punished for being too observant
Welcome to the community! Enjoy the game and all it has to offer it’s totally one of the most rad gacha games
Thank you for the welcome! I’m happy to be here~
I would say that PGR's difficulty level is definitely a bit higher.
Imagine her reaction after learning selena's backstory lmaoo 😂😂😂
Gosh, now I’m even more curious than before!!! ahhh, when will I get to see her backstory?!?
You were wrong about Lamia...
She is....
Even her opponent shocked about Lamia's painful past and had to fight Lamia to take all her pain so Lamia didn't need to keep all the pain by herself anymore...even now her pain still continues..
