    set up a 300 liter tank a month ago (aqauscaper 1200), its fully stocked with plants/rock hardscape but i wanted to trident java fern. bought 3x xL fern on wood and dumped them in my tank, a week later i noticed an amano shrimp swimming around lol, wasnt acclimtised at all just thrown in there. anyway in future I will do it this way, not worth risking doing what happened before.

    Great video man! But should you not have addressed the ammonia from in the bag, also what has accumulated during drip?
    When drip acclimating, I usually put a drop of seachem Prime in the container to detoxify any ammonia that has built up in the bag, as well as in the container in the future as it lasts up to 3 days when dosed to recommended concentrations.

    • @SimplyShrimps
      @SimplyShrimps  7 років тому

      +NorthScape Aquascaping Hey man! So for late reply :( Although I didn't directly comment on ammonia, I did say to try and get as little of the container water into your tank when introducing the shrimps. That's a great tip with the prime. I'll be sure to give it a go :D

    • @dylanhodges8428
      @dylanhodges8428 7 років тому +1

      No worries on the late reply! I would be less worried about the ammonia in your tank (The biofilter and plants will eat it up easily), and more worried about the shrimp sitting in the ammonia from the bag water during drip acclimating.
      P.S. I read your comments in your accent. It makes it more legitimate, I love it.

    • @SimplyShrimps
      @SimplyShrimps  7 років тому +4

      +NorthScape Aquascaping I see what you mean. To be honest the way I see it is they have sat in the bag for 24-48+ hours, another one shouldn't be life threatening :) Haha! I wasn't aware I had an accent other than English xD

    • @dylanhodges8428
      @dylanhodges8428 7 років тому

      Simply Shrimps yeah that's a good point. I can see if you've had them shipped, that being the case. I'm usually just really cautious with ammonia and shrimp. they're just so little and delicate looking 😂

    • @brendonkennedy3373

      @@brendonkennedy3373Good helpful tip for for beginners. It's my bad though . I must of been half asleep or something when I asked the question. I could of answered that myself. Drip acclamation is to acclimatising the new inhabitants to your parameters (including temp) so you don't shock them. I don't tie a knot in the airline, cause I had a spare control valves to use. ✌

      Good luck :) there is a risk that if there is any parasite or bad things in the water they came in then they might go in your tank. It’s just a safety pro causation really.

    DO NOT SUCK ON THE TUBE! Sucking on the tube can get you sent to the hospital, and unfortunately I have seen quite a few people visit because of it ( I work the front desk at a hospital). People get sick from contaminated water all the time. There are tools, and a ton of videos to help you get the suction going.
