I'm always amazed with the variety of flavors Maker's Mark are capable of with the private selects. They do such innovative stuff with the same mash bill. Cool distillery, fun tour amazing marketing.
I have not seen either of these in my local store yet. I recently bought a stave Selection Store Pick that has 5 different types of staves listed on the label and a total of 10 staves. It comes in at 109.6 proof and is probably my favorite Makers product to date.
@@FredMinnick my current rotation is usually among wt 101, Rittenhouse rye bib, old grandad bib and stuff that’s on sale. And i’ll try something new about every 2-3 bottles. I’m a budget, one bottle at a time dude. 👍🏼
Well I guess I’ll be happy I got the spicier one in BRT-02. I found it just stopping in a small store to get lotto. Everyone else bought BRT-01 and leg one BRT-02 for me. Can’t wait to crack it.
Perfect review. I get a chocolate note from the BRT-02. I prefer it a little more than the one. Next time combine the the two and see what you think. I did that and it’s magical. Cheers
These weren't actually placed on high/low ricks. The barrels were selected along with the stave finish to "pay homage" to the rick positions. Great bottles, some of my favorite
Makers needs to produce a 10+ year bourbon. I think with some more time in the barrel, Makers Mark would be awesome. I like the cask strength Makers, I do not care for or buy the regular.
Totally agree! Unfortunately that is not their business model. The founders thought 7yrs or so was the max for their products. I dont care for any if this stave finished stuff. Age is where its at...
Maker's misses the mark for me. The Cask Strength and 101 are only ones I tolerate...every few months. The 46 and experimental stave thing are not good. I don't see these newer two generating much excitement in the public. Up your game, maker's!
I'm not much of a basic Maker's fan, but I've really enjoyed the stave series from them. They've been hitters IMO. Hopefully I'll be able to find some of these.
@@BlankenshiptheDevil That's really weird. We did a group tasting among about 10 friends and we all got the butterscotch on the BRT-01, like Fred. Enjoyed the 1 more than the 2. Both are great.
I have been hunting these, but they have not arrived in South Florida yet. For those Makers fans out there, are these any more special than the other wood stave series MM does? I have a small collection of those, and each one is excellant. Just curious if BRT-01/BRT-02 are any more special than those offierings.
I just opened my BRT -01 and it’s a caramel bomb on the nose and just as much on the palate. Has a decent amount of spice on the finish too. I think it’s excellent!

I think these are both worth the money. Such great releases and a big fan of both. It’s crazy how wildly different they are. Cheers
Only was able to find BRT01 in my area. Butterscotch bomb. It is delightful
I had the chance to buy the brt-02 and it dis not disappoint! You can really taste the finish on it

I may have to finally put the EW BIB down and splurge on some BRT 1.
Thanks!
I have BRT 2 and love it its unique and tremendous
Agree on BRT-1. Was very surprised, given my experience with MM. Great purchase.
I love makers I just wish we could get some higher age statements from them
Found BRT 2 here in Texas two weeks ago…have heard BRT 1 has been around but no sightings yet…thanks for the review!
I'd love to see a review of all the past releases. i tried to save them all but i just couldn't make these bottles last. RC6 was a special one.
“Smelled some charcoal, on the nose” 😂
Love your reviews dude 👍🏼
why, thank you! what's in your glass these days?

I found 2 bottles of the BRT-02 over the weekend. Haven't tasted it yet

IMHO would have been better to do the same woods at different heights.
I think it was the BRT2 they had at the St. Louis Bourbon Festival that I tried. It was fine. I'm becoming less and less a Maker"s Mark fan.
Yup! The wood finishing thing really is kind of weak.
Are these batter than cask strength? How do they compare?
Blend em....BLEND THEM!!
Should i blend them? :-)
@@FredMinnick It's the honorable and decent thing to do.
Fred just curious, what kind of camera do you use?

Do the Cask Strength and 46 and 46 Cask
Great review, I just posted my review of these too!
Weird, my BRT-2 is way more of a butterscotch bomb than my BRT-1
My BRT-2 a butterscotch bomb with the spice and it’s absolutely amazing.
Had the same experience, more caramel on the BRT-01, more butterscotch spice on the BRT-02.

A UNICORN in FW/Dallas.

Barely recognize you without the ascot!
Been in a hoodie mood lately
Haha
Been hunting for these 2 in Michigan for a while. Hope to find them soon. Cheers!
Maker's is a winner. Don't know anyone that doesn't like it......other than the wax on the bottle. What's up with that?
SWEET TOOTH
WTF is this guy with the hoodie? Where's Fred and his ascot?! But these 2 MM sound special!!
Not a fan of these. Especially did not like BRT-2. I thought it was an ethanol and tannin bomb and little else.
I got more chocolate on brt-2.

Just started seeing them on the space coast, maybe they'll migrate down there soon. Got a brt 01 from a wal mart for $57.
MM is not among my bottles. Not had any I’d wish to purchase. Far too many other good whiskeys out there….. I wish them continued good fortunes…
Hey fred you're cool but thank your wife should be involved you lucky bastard in a good way
ADHD does not like maker's. Says it is not his jam
Me either. Its not bad, dont get me wrong, but im kinda done buying mm on my journey.
