This is a shape I plan on working on. Just curious, when you draw up the cylinder what exactly are you looking for in order to know that you've pulled up enough clay? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills.
Merci encore😊
I’m study ceramics at my university right now, and from my understanding a classical moon jar has a smaller base than the opening. At least I have heard it’s important to Korean potters. Is that true, and why is that?
Rewatching in feb 2023. One of my favourite pieces to make and I love watching you make anything. Thanks for the post
You are welcome!

Love doing moon jars I still have to work on that fluid roundness mine is still off some but hard to see or adjust once you get to far into it.
As always I was able to take away more information with this video and every video you make. 💖Thank you for videos ❣️

Excellent demonstration. Are you in United States, in which state? I would like to buy a 5lb moon jar with traditional white glaze.
I live in SF bay area.
Do you glaze the complete inside of moon jars and other pots that are mostly closed? Love your work and my set of Hsin trimming tools!
I did glaze inside as long as I can pour the glaze in.
Fabulous!

I think Wikipedia has very good definition and the history of the moon jar. Here I am just to show people how to achieve the shape.
