John definitely plays a big role in any band he plays with. He brings a nice jazzy feel without sacrificing the manic power needed to kick it up a notch.
I got to see Tomahawk open for Tool many years back when they were a relatively new band. I had no idea who they were but they rocked, a minute or so in I thought " oh shit that's Mike Patton". Been listening ever since.
John Stanier once again demonstrating that he is in a league completely of his own. No other drummer even gets close to his sound, not remotely close. His beats are so far ahead of anything else today. Great video, Tomahawk imho is patton's greatest achievement.
I got to see Tomahawk live at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. During his performance of Capt. Midnight, his equipment spilled onto the ground. Being the man, he recovered without the help of stage hands and STILL delivered as if nothing happened.
The cool thing about Mike Patton is that he doesn't care about being "Famous." He does what he does because he loves experimenting with music and sounds. Which makes him famous. :) Even in HoRRywood now he lends so much of his unique talent to soundtracks and sound effects. Look up "I Am Legend Mike Patton" to find out that he voiced every zombie in that movie. So now, possibly, Will Smith even knows the awesomeness of Patton.
+Hootyhaha Hootyhaha Exactly then people who hate on him throw in the he isn't popular etc when he couldve easily sold out and made more radio friendly music
patton himself in an interview said something like: Human music is bullshit.... of course there are truly exceptional artists that really worth spending time appreciating his works. But the vast mayority of them are superficial, mediocre, insignificant and frivolous.
I crossed paths with Mike on the Sunset Strip. I merely gave him the rock horn hand sign & yelled “MIKE! MIKE!”. I made no move toward him, just gave him that shout out. He seemed to appreciate being left alone & me not engaging him in forced conversation. What would we talk about REALLY? And I wasnt interested in blowing him! LOL!
tomahawk are an unknown jem, in a sane world they would have sold 50 million albums, i've had their their first 2 cd's since release but i've been listening to them alot of late and i can't get enough
patton is ahead of his time , he is in very good but select company. ihave no doubts the robot residents of Earth 4010 will regard him as some sort of appostle
i would say that he is aside of time, in that way you can appreciate the big picture and create universal works.... the past is part of the future. These artists know very well the past of music and his experiences , its their roots. The foundations in which their work is develop.
It does not matter if someone does the same drum beat for an entire song, as long as the song sounds good, It is a creative drum line that fits the song, and that makes him a good drummer.
Thanks to all who actually understand the performances. Still had to check it out again to get my "fix" ! It makes a tough day at work easier! rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've lived in N.Y.C. & L.A., mad respect EVERYWHERE!!!! Mike is a mad scientist! Bands included...
This song is perfect. It stills feels like the first time I heard. It's that "stuck in the woods/desert at night and somethings out there" vibe that they do so well, firing full blast. I wish they would either "preform" or make a video for something from Anonymous.
I just started listening to this band a few minutes ago (already a Fantomas and Bungle fan) and every song is just so fucking epic! I don't think I've ever gotten into a band so quickly!
technically, the second "mayday" is the hardest for him to sing, cos its closer to the edge of his lower range. the thirt one he just goes falsetto on that shit, and mike patton's falsetto range is fucking incredible so he nails it every time.
@numbchucking I feel exactly the same way! 2 week ago a saw Patton with Faith No More and this was the most inspiring concert in my life! If I have the chance to see Tomahawk some day, it would be another dream come true!
@metatronsfury John Stanier is the Masterchief :) But his drum-skills was much more obvious when he played in Helmet.. I'm only looking at this band now, cause I checked his present bands out on Wiki!! But He was legendary in Helmet!! And when Helmet was re-united some years ago, it was without Stanier...Big loss. Cause Helmet's style demands a tight drummer..And the typical Helmet snaredrum sound..It's so clear to hear if he is playing or one of the new does..He can't be replaced...
yeah check it out on youtube, 1950s and 1960s italian pop songs performed with a band and orchestra, patton sings amazingly well on it and it's a project that seems to be popular with a lot of patton's different fans
Ok so i recently knew that Faith No More aren't doing more shows and i was sad =( but then i remember that M. Patton still has awesome bands like this one =)
@mindbait One show in LA at the end of November ( got my tickets already!!) and one in Chile in like December I think. They played in San Fran and New York already. They just randomly have announced shows. Kinda cool.
I read an interview with Patton recently and he said that it's unlikely that they'll tour with Anonymous, they need a new bass player and at least 2 percussionists. Hopefully they've changed their minds since though, it would be great.
@rawfflecakes the drummer's name is John Stanier and apparently he's well known for his crazy stamina, he's also in the bands mark of cain and battles (and he used to be in helmet)
@SecretAgent068 apparently dunn is playing bass on the next tomahawk album and they're going to record late this year or january 2012, according to an interview with duane
sol musica festival, in france somewhere i'm guessing since somewhere in the show he says "je suis merde, tomahawk e merde. sol musica tres magnifique"
@ComradeMakhno Lets be greddy and ask for the 2 ;) I do belive the studio version its amazing, but also the live performances are amazing, so i want both
yeah the last interview i read on the matter he said they were looking at maybe doings some shows DESPITE needing a new bassplayer and couple of percussionists
Funny to me that the bands that are pivotal to the music scene, TOOL brings them on tour with them and people who don't really follow music end up hating some of the best music beyond the radio or mainstream
John Stainer is the most underrated rock drummer of all time. period
Facts!
John definitely plays a big role in any band he plays with. He brings a nice jazzy feel without sacrificing the manic power needed to kick it up a notch.
FACTS
Genuinely Genius❤
Lyrics awe
I got to see Tomahawk open for Tool many years back when they were a relatively new band. I had no idea who they were but they rocked, a minute or so in I thought " oh shit that's Mike Patton". Been listening ever since.
lucky
Same thing happened to my uncle lol he went to see tool and was mind blown by tomahawk and freaked out when he realized it was mike Patton
Same bro
Tomahawk are so f'n good. I've been listening to them for so long and their music never gets old.
Patton uses different microphones so well for specific effects... and this performance just absolutely throws down
one of the best bands ever to hit rock n roll
Watching him switch mics constantly while he wails and rocks the keys is mesmerizing.
I realize it's kind of off topic but do anybody know of a good place to stream newly released tv shows online ?
@Bryce Jaxon Flixportal =)
@Roman Oscar thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it!
@Bryce Jaxon No problem :D
John Stanier once again demonstrating that he is in a league completely of his own. No other drummer even gets close to his sound, not remotely close. His beats are so far ahead of anything else today. Great video, Tomahawk imho is patton's greatest achievement.
Dave Lombardo
@@bronwynsimpson61 Dave is one of my favourite drummers, one of the greatest of all time.
This guy, is obviously talented but I wouldn't rank him.
Mike Patton gives me chills when he sings. its fucking mind blowing.
Claypool of vocals!
Плохая метафора подобна котенку с дверцей.
i will never find a band thats like tomahwak, nor will i find a musical genius like mr. patton.
i hope he's immortal, like keanu reeves...
I got to see Tomahawk live at the House of Blues in Las Vegas. During his performance of Capt. Midnight, his equipment spilled onto the ground. Being the man, he recovered without the help of stage hands and STILL delivered as if nothing happened.
That must be a great venue.
That's one of my favorite songs of all time
love the deep dark atmosphere of this song... what a creation!
jesus fuck john stanier what a fucking beast

He is a real artist.
These guys have immense artistry that can't be denied
That was different, but loved it every bit.
Mike is the greatest lead in the history of the earth.
He shits excellence every morning.
so he put excellence on axl rose's sippy cup when they toured in the early 90s?
What a great set of musicians. All albums they made have this kind of catchy and badass vibe. I can't stop listening to them. Might need help, or not
tomahawk are an unknown jem, in a sane world they would have sold 50 million albums, i've had their their first 2 cd's since release but i've been listening to them alot of late and i can't get enough
What did you think of the newer ones?
🤯 Vocal samurai/ninja... epic, genius. Awesome band. Match made in heaven, in this lovely hell. ✊🏽💟
Øne of the most Incredible live performances ever to occur on this planet.
AKA Patton live
You know this is like, on Mars, right bro??
you could say that about a lot of live mike patton performances tho
Increíble maestro Mike Patton
God it's great to see people playing with energy and a packed venue.
drummer is awesome
patton is ahead of his time , he is in very good but select company.
ihave no doubts the robot residents of Earth 4010 will regard him as some sort of appostle
i would say that he is aside of time, in that way you can appreciate the big picture and create universal works.... the past is part of the future. These artists know very well the past of music and his experiences , its their roots. The foundations in which their work is develop.
Lol
Saw Mike Patton at John Zorn's 60th birthday gig...... Awesome show.... Would love to see Tomahawk live!!
It does not matter if someone does the same drum beat for an entire song, as long as the song sounds good, It is a creative drum line that fits the song, and that makes him a good drummer.
мені колись потрапив альбом Tomahawk Mit Gas але я не знав що це Майк Патон. May Day була улюбленним треком, ну і birdsong
Simple, good song writing. Period.
this performance rocks. i think i like it better than the album version.
Agreed. Duane is an excellent guitarist!
That snare!!
Bands included...

as soon as I saw the live video for God Hates a Coward I was Sold.
Where in the holy fuck have I been. I'm just now appreciating the genius of Mike Patton. I never ignored it just wasn't around it.
This song is perfect. It stills feels like the first time I heard. It's that "stuck in the woods/desert at night and somethings out there" vibe that they do so well, firing full blast. I wish they would either "preform" or make a video for something from Anonymous.
Thankyou, mindbait and thankyou to everyone who has ever posted a Mike Patton video on youtube. They are awesome.
I just started listening to this band a few minutes ago (already a Fantomas and Bungle fan) and every song is just so fucking epic! I don't think I've ever gotten into a band so quickly!
Good freakin god Dennis a chorded solo. absolutely stunning

When The great priests of thunderous rock will back again and it's even more Marvellous than ever.. ?° ;)
i wish i had his fking voice, so damn badass
how the fuck does he sings the "third mayday". OMG this guy is a god.
technically, the second "mayday" is the hardest for him to sing, cos its closer to the edge of his lower range. the thirt one he just goes falsetto on that shit, and mike patton's falsetto range is fucking incredible so he nails it every time.
So friggin bad ass...
El loco Mike
Incredibly sexy Mike ❤
@numbchucking
I feel exactly the same way!
2 week ago a saw Patton with Faith No More and this was the most inspiring concert in my life! If I have the chance to see Tomahawk some day, it would be another dream come true!
I wasn't sure how Native American styles would mesh with their own but I listened and both songs were really quite enjoyable. Thanks for recommending!
Mike Patton is the GOD of Rock\m/
"MAAAAAAAAYDAAAAAAAAAY" that vocal range baby..
I say, what a jolly nice tune, eh chaps?
pattons scream is fucking GOLD.
@mindbait thank god they are coming chile, i miss the last one
If the master patton himself says mayday than you know we are in trouble
@metatronsfury John Stanier is the Masterchief :) But his drum-skills was much more obvious when he played in Helmet.. Best live
yeah i hope they get out and tour the new album soon!
there's an interview somewhere where a girl asks him that, he points at his hair and says "to keep this greasy mess outa my face"
I am so damn glad to hear they're now working on a new album.
yeah check it out on youtube, 1950s and 1960s italian pop songs performed with a band and orchestra, patton sings amazingly well on it and it's a project that seems to be popular with a lot of patton's different fans
like two fuckin weeks ago

Ok so i recently knew that Faith No More aren't doing more shows and i was sad =( but then i remember that M. Patton still has awesome bands like this one =)
"You're stealing my ideas!"...?dude..I lent you my identity?..
2.40 the vocal oh my god amazing!!!!
Holy fuck the intro.
yeah stanier has always been the tomahawk drummer, he was also in helmet and is currently (i think) in battles and mark of cain
same. i saw God Hates a Coward and immediately i was hooked.
@mindbait
One show in LA at the end of November ( got my tickets already!!) and one in Chile in like December I think. They played in San Fran and New York already. They just randomly have announced shows. Kinda cool.
I have watched this video many times, Thanks for sharing! Too bad it is 240p Not sure if there is a better copy somewhere. Still great stuff!!!!
I read an interview with Patton recently and he said that it's unlikely that they'll tour with Anonymous, they need a new bass player and at least 2 percussionists. Hopefully they've changed their minds since though, it would be great.
stanier is great
ao vivo daqui algumas horas em são paulo!! ansiosíssimo por esse concerto!
Eu fui, também. :)
grande dia! ano que vem tem mr bungle, pretende ir?
@@bdebrunok sim, claro! :)
@rawfflecakes the drummer's name is John Stanier and apparently he's well known for his crazy stamina, he's also in the bands mark of cain and battles (and he used to be in helmet)
John Stanier, also played/plays in the bands Helmet, Mark of Cain and Battles
Muy bueno !!!
they are releasing an album at the end of Jan 2013, called Oddfellows, featuring a new bass player Trevor Dunn, try track "stone letter"
bring it on lard boy
this..is..fucking..sick
That part @ min 2:32 is so intense!
Wow! Have you ever heard anything John Stanier has done before? Helmet, The Mark of Cain, Battles... anything at all?
Fucking love Tomahawk
@SecretAgent068 apparently dunn is playing bass on the next tomahawk album and they're going to record late this year or january 2012, according to an interview with duane
@PDXCHawk acording to recent interviews duane has been sending patton music and he's got it in the works so yeah there should be a future for them
@MrDrwillard420 That's gotta be the best news I've heard in a long time. Now if we could just get a petition started for a new Bungle album.
sol musica festival, in france somewhere i'm guessing since somewhere in the show he says "je suis merde, tomahawk e merde. sol musica tres magnifique"
This is brilliant!
@ComradeMakhno
Lets be greddy and ask for the 2 ;)
I do belive the studio version its amazing, but also the live performances are amazing, so i want both
So fuckin insane!!!!
yeah the last interview i read on the matter he said they were looking at maybe doings some shows DESPITE needing a new bassplayer and couple of percussionists
@mindbait Helmet with Stanier is awesome music to rock out to
Funny to me that the bands that are pivotal to the music scene, TOOL brings them on tour with them and people who don't really follow music end up hating some of the best music beyond the radio or mainstream
@XPlayer30 FNM are doing a few more shows, a couple of US dates and at least one in Chile i think
no worries, always happy to recommend gelhead's many works to people
sssoooooooooooo in agree with you the drummer is awesome!
does that make tomahawk "the truman show"?
