Beautiful. following JJ since 1980. I am 62 now. How time passed away. I listened to this song every evening in bed in the eighties. Very very underrated artist, a shame.
JIM WALPOLE Wow - that's wonderful. Thanks for posting here. There were lots of wonderful shots from this show. Is it true that one of the songs was retaped because somebody got up on stage?
Nice to hear a good viola player. Joe is no idiot. Graduated from Royal school of music in London. He knows how to compose, arrange & orchestrate. There are very few other pop people that have that talent. I will not go into his other talents etc... But I Love this exit of musicians in this beautiful exit of real musicians.
What a smashing start of the song! One expects something explosive is goning to happen ;And it does: Another fantastic performance by J:J: and the band,The perfect song to end the show Does Anyone have the live version with a mind blowig saxophone-solo ??

Same to all. Age, jj being underrated. Genius of a guy.
I was lucky enough to be the on stage cameraman for this gig.So happy I found this.An honour to work with him.

JIM WALPOLE PS - that would also mean that you captured a lot of the great footage of Mindy Jostyn?
JJfanz No, we reshot the opening song because Joe wasn't happy with his playing! Funny how rumours start.
JJfanz Yep, that's true.Easy to shoot.
You can buy the entire show on VHS. FYI.
To this day I thought nothing could come near the Rockpalast 1983 version. But this clearly different one comes very, very close.
I always loved Joe Jackson - "Play us a Slow Song"
What a fabulous way to wind down a concert. No encore needed after that.

Sadly Mindy died years after this.

I saw this in Birmingham. The greatest gig ever. Joe's voice has never been finer.
I remember this tour/show so well. That finale was such a hand-to-my-throat moment.
Perfect !
RIP Mindy Jostyn, 1956-2005

mikkelmichel Yes, clever and effortless segue-ing.
Music has charms they say
But in some people’s hands
It becomes a savage beast
Can’t they control it
Why don’t they hold it back
"brutalized by base, terrorized by treble" heaven sent lyrics.
