    Super, Thanks for response. I hand turn primary clutch back/forth, felt a clear slack and tap, as if you hand turn the slack damper gear. (Metal shaving is on tranny nut, with new oil, much quieter from statoscope)

    I was riding on the trails my polaris 1000xp sportsman just stopped, when i took off the belt cover everything looks good, but when i put it in gear and give it gas the secondary clutch makes a grinding metal sound, can you give me some advice. Thanks

    Subscribed! Love your " ha xi ho hai ha yi aa......" . What is the ticking sound like from a loose damper nut at idle and running?

    Hello, i got a 2023 polaris sportsman 850 700km on it. I got a rattle at idle speed i think its coming from behind the starter or behind the primary clutch. Took the belt off and the noise is still there. Sure is starting to look like that part you are showing.

    Thanks so much for posting this video! No way would I have been able to zero in on that noise this easily otherwise.
    But just a quick question. I've got the dampener off, is there a way to confirm it's damaged? I'd hate to spend $900 Canadian rubles and put everything back together again just to find out the knock was something else. :)

      Replace it. Its cheap. Ebay or power sports nation U.S. put on thread lock on bolt. I also had a tranny that was bad once.

    i have a 2018 sportsman that knocks real bad at idle then when you speed up it kinda goes away. it runs and drives fine. i pulled the clutch and stuff like that and it didn’t go away. i had some metal on my drain plug for my tranny. could the coupler be my issue? i’m so lost and don’t wanna take it to get fixed. i have a video of it if that helps any i can send it to you. thanks 🙃

      Just renewed my 2010 550EFI tranny oil, the chain slapping noise at idle is gone. I used hydraulic 46 fluid, a thicker anti wear fluid, now I could clearly id the ticking from damp/coupler.

    Thanks for the video, I have a 2011 late model 550 in my garage with a broken input shaft, the shaft that couples to the dampner. That shaft is broken off at the splines. Would you suspect that was caused by a bad dampner? This unit is my fathers and used on his farm, Not abused. He drove up shut it down and started it back up a moment later and it wouldn't move. I ordered the input shaft and received it however the dampner is on backorder for another month and expensive here in Canada, $680.
    thanks

      If you have a lath, repair it easy. ( put in a center plug to line up and weld it back)

    Excellent video! I think this is the problem I'm having as well. Do you have a part number for this? I'm seeing two possible parts. One called a "Spring Damper Assembly" and another called an "Engine Inertia Coupler". Subscribing now!

    When it clunks I think it's the engine transferring all the energy to the transmission or the transmission transferring to the clutch system something clunks when you go on and off the gas just wondering if that's the same thing that you're talkin about the guessing game from here

  • @Lariat8

    Would this possibly be the issue with mine.... Right now my CVT isn't turning at all when the engine is running. I suspected a broken belt at first but when I took the housing off, the belt was fully intact. Engine runs fine, but there is zero movement with the CVT. Thanks in advance. Side note, if take the transmission out do I have to remove the two drive pulleys?

    • @IMPORTANTVIDEOS7
      @IMPORTANTVIDEOS7  Рік тому

      Definately. Take out tranny see if the bolt is off tighten it like 125 ft pounds or whatever it is with the strongest loctite u can get. If not than its tranny. Once u have the tranny out be careful and start it and see if the engine part is spinning. Than u know its the tranny.

    • @Lariat8
      @Lariat8 Рік тому

      @@IMPORTANTVIDEOS7 thanks for your reply, I think the tranny is ok as I turn the large pulley while in gear the drive shaft spins. The CVT moves freely with the motor shut off. Shouldn't it be locked into the crankshaft and not be able to move freely? To add... I think I've been hearing the noises for a while this winter and then it must have suddenly snapped or fell out. Pretty sure I'm looking at replacing the entire dampner/coupling assembly. Just to reiterate, do I need to remove the pulleys or will the come of with unit? Thanks!

    I think mine is making this noise youre talking about at idle. Bike kinda shakes at idle, but runs just fine all other times. May be looking too into it. Could I send a video of the idle and knock to see if you think this is it?
