As a non American and an outsider looking in, I think this comment perfectly exemplifies the difference between the two voter bases. One group is relatively unaffected by the material consequences of the economy while the other group is affected to some significant degree. One group focuses more on what he says, the other focuses on what he does. For one group, the president is nothing more than a figurehead, a monarch... the other group sees the president as an active leader with consequential impact on their lives.

A tragedy for sure. We in the Midwest know how to stay warm during winter power outages but Southern residents don't know how to survive. I cried about it, not kidding. I hope they've learned their lessons.

Then the climate did a shift around mid 1970th... we started to have a bit of snow,... then by the 1990th more winter type of weather.
It isn’t that we do not know how to deal with ice and snow,it’s that when we have ice and snow,the air isn’t dry,as in let’s say Maine ...when it snows or sleets. Our air has high humidity.... It causes horrible slippery ice ,not the dry snow or ice. During the Freeze of 2021... what we Texans didn’t know about was that 40% of our grid ...was powered by wind and solar at TXU Energy...two or three power centers where shut down,they were not put on standby,for just in case ..by Ercot...who are not located in Texas,I believe they are in Minnesota. One other power center was down for cleaning and or repair. When the temperature crashed , the Windmill froze and TXU power grid failed.
The snow started just before 2:30A M in the wee hours of Sunday ...I was in it,..at the time I was on my route delivering newspapers.. it became cold very quickly,heavy snow, and my route was 203 miles,..I still had to go about 185 miles on my delivery. In the wee hours of Monday morning just before 2:30 AM I woke up,found that the electricity was off. All paper delivery had been canceled for the foreseeable future later on Sunday. I spend the rest of that day of Monday without power and that night. Then in the wee hours of Tuesday without heat, and the temperature was at -8 by the early hours of Tuesday. Freezing is a painful process when you are that cold,..and I didn’t believe I would survived the night nor my two cats. What I didn’t know was that one of my sons was driving his truck for a delivery that was due that day ,my phone rang...and it was just before 2:30 AM ....we talked to each other for hours which kept me alert, and awake..he told me what it was like where the power was off ,and where it still was on...or when the power suddenly failed. At eight that morning he showed up at my place with food and a very large cup of coffee..and the Police showed up to check up on folks. I had ice hanging out of faucets,shower heads,my 30 gallon fish tank was solid ice,...and you can imagine what happened to the fish who I had had for a good 25 years,my plants were frozen never to regrow ,but one plant, that did regrow, was a plant from Hawaii . And we lost 705 citizens of Texas,most of them were the elderly,..like myself. And now I sit here waiting for another massive winter freeze ,while California is burning.. it’s not 2:30 AM ,but just after 1:00 AM. Here In Texas.
