Zack Ryan what's the transmission got to do with space? on body .? the suspension lift strains everything like suspension the frame etc. the body lift just helps mechanics get under hood and fix stuff and a cheap lift
Hakkd Garage The only lift that stresses suspension components are cheap lifts that use the stock control arms and put a block over your stock springs. The lift that is best functionally, looks good, and doesn’t require you to lift the body and therefore, create problems is a more expensive suspension lift (don’t know the technical term but technically it’s a suspension lift) such as pro-comp. In my opinion, if you do something, you do it right. Not take the cheap way out with block lifts and body lifts. Because in the long run, you want a dependable, strong, and reliable truck.
A Performance Accessories 3'Body lift for your truck comes with bumper relocation brackets, solving your bumper drop problems, and gap guards to solve that problems as well.Only down side, is you can't use your bull bar any longer. I have had numerous body lifts on different trucks and never had any complaints, always using Performance brand lifts.
WheelinWithAustin hey how is the 3 inch body working for you? Any ride changes made ? And why does people hate body lift I was thinking about doing on my 6 inch suspension
Mine worked great, didn't ride any different. People hate it because everyone does it improper, aka they don't use gap guards, bumper brackets, exhaust mods, so everything looks like it's hanging low, if you do it right it looks good.

Here in michigan, a body lift is a godsend. Makes it alot easier to keep under carriage washed out from winters salt. Also makes it a hell of alot easier to get passanger rear spark plug out.
No clue where you're at today with this issue but if it bothers you in the rear you can buy a liner that will go in the rear walls, Hides the gap and protects the spacing, Although I would still recommend rust proofing
The reason why they couldn't fix your front bumper is because the bumper mounts are attached to the frame and you're moving the cab up from the frame. So the bumper stays at the same height with the fame. The reason they couldn't fix it is because they would have to either change the frame or completely take off the bumper mounts and try to re weld then somewhere else. The amount of knowledge you know is actually so minuscule, it's actually painful to watch
I agree with you man, it's not rocket science to understand it would need taller bumper brackets to match up and this guy is shaming an auto shop for not having the certifications to weld a frame. People need to know what there getting into it before they do it.
Kyler Anderson exactly. He bought stuff for his truck without any knowledge of what he was doing. Then tries to explain why he doesn't like the things he doesn't understand
My trucks a 2012 exact same color but mines a 4 door crew cab with a 3 1/2 inch rough country lift and I love it. No body lift just blocks rear and strut pucks on the front. Because of your video I'm taking my spare and getting rid of it. I've got a 33 mounted on a like in kind wheel that matches the other 4. It's in the bed with a fiberglass bed cap keeping from getting stolen.
My body lift looks awesome on my Silverado HD. No complaints, the right kit with gap adjustment accessories and the right skilled installer and you wouldn't have those problems. Be careful criticizing when you have an improper kit and improper installation. Also, thanks to Josh for a job well done; 3" lift and labor $650.00
You need to stop whining, Bottom line, you get a body lift if you want to keep the original suspension ride and geometry and have clearance for bigger tires..
5 reasons not to do a body lift: 1) bigger gap between body and frame 2) can't store spare tire in stock location 3) top of engine bay is now slightly recessed below the body 4) bumpers must be lifted to match body lines 5) higher center of gravity There, I just saved anyone else coming across this video 16 mins & 17 seconds. Slow down and don’t drive like an idiot. You have a lifted truck. Center of gravity is goin to change. 🤣🤣🤷♂️🤦♂️.
Because of your wisdom, I have decided to just do a leveling kit..I'm going to put 3 inch body blocks on just the very front of my suburban..thanks again
@@Derec Ha Ha!...I guess I should have added a laugh out loud or something..that was a ridiculous idea for sure..but seriously I was thinking of a 3 inch body lift for my 93 k1500, but first I would want to see one locally because I'm concerned that even with added gap guards and raised bumpers, I might not like the exposed frame from a side view..maybe best just to spend the grand on a 6 inch suspension lift
I've seen this before, laughed my ass off from the comments and this dudes lack of knowledge on everything he's mentioned in this video because its PURE common sense... Was looking for something else recently and this came up again.. Rewatched it just to loose some more brain cells and wonder how some people can be so clueless. I don't get you dude but I respect you for not taking the vid down.
Bringing up some good points about body lifts but 1: the first 2 reasons why not to buy the body lift end up turning into "Oh I like it now" the last 3 reasons, are good to point out but IMO complain too much and ramble too much, not sure how I made it through this video without ripping my hair out.
I have a 06 2500 Silverado I was going to put a body lift on it not anymore. I save up for a suspension lift thanks for the information I have a feeling you save me a lot of grief 👍
ok the gap you say you like now. the sapre tire rust so you like it better in the bed and the extra room under the hood is a bonus if you actually turned a wrench instead of paying mechanics to do it. the bumper ya thats harsh i would complain about it the exhaust any muffler shop can bend it to where it matches factory position.
Take it easy city boy, a body lift is a cheaper and easier alternative to a suspension lift, a suspension lift you are literally changing all of your steering components and putting more stress on your tie rods and ball joints and springs etc, as opposed to just lifting the body of the frame with spacers, in this you change the bumpers for sure, if you go for a real body lift 3' or more, you might have to cut the frame to raise your bumpers high enough, extend break lines and wires, but it doesn't put stress on anything or cost you nearly as much as a suspension lift, also why are you complaining about more room in the engine bay? I'd love that
FWIW, a 1.5" suspension lift raises your center of gravity MORE than a 1.5" body lift. Beside lifting the BODY, a suspension lift also lifts the chassis, the engine, the transfer case, the front differential, the rear differential, the fuel tank, etc.,etc.,etc..
For the exhaust gap; just cut it down, buy a piece of bent pipe and weld it back on. Pretty simple and not that expensive. And as for the bumper gap... you now know for next time to get the relocation brackets lol
The body lift allows you to put on bigger tires, there is no reason to put on a body lift if you are going to run those small tires. I think the under the hood situation is better with the body lift, it actually gives you more room when you are working under there. The engine bay is far better with the body lift because it gives you more room to work under the hood. Doesnt everyone know that the bumper lift is a simple kit that comes with every body lift kit? The spare tire situation is easy to fix. and no one would ever be dumb enough to even think about cutting their frame.
Alright. A few ways to beat the "problems that most us actual enthusiasts do. We get or have inner fender well covers. That helps with road debris and mud building up creating rust. Get some side steps to cover the frame, over size tires wont fit under the truck and dangerous to run 2 different size tires on the same axle. Having the body up off the transmission will help when it comes to ever having to pull the transmission out or t-case. Relocation brackets move the bumber to match the body. Moving the center of gravity will also be moved with a suspension lift. It will actually make it worst. Kinda why you go a little slower around curves. It's a truck. Not a race car. The exhaust, go after market. Go get a custom exhaust put on or a muffler shop will move the tip up.
Upshift Z71 not whole exhaust. And the foot steps will not decrease ground clearance unless you want the damn steps to drop to the ground but how often are you gonna be going off-road in the truck?
I'm confused.reason one.you said it didn't look good, but it did look good and it doesn't bother you.reason two,the spare tire, you were going to take off anyways because of the rust.so I stopped watching...doesn't make sense
Yes of course there are some downfalls to a body lift and you do have to make some modifications....a body lift itself is a modification...nothing you mentioned was anything that could not be fixed and make it look right....I've seen plenty of body lift that look just fine and you can cover up those gaps very easily.... I have an old F250 with a 3 inch body lift and you know what?....I thought that I was going to remove it and lower the body back down because I don't need 37 inch tires.... after working on the truck it makes things so much easier to get to underneath that I actually love having a body lift now. Nothing wrong with it if done right.
Are your inner genders and firewall separate from the rest of your truck ? About the only thing that would be lower is the engine and radiator on some as they sat in the frame but even that the only issue was the fan hitting the shroud yet most body lift kits supplied a quick fix for that as well as relocation brackets for any hard lines(fuel, brake) the gap is easily fixed with gap guards or even a piece of painted sheet metal mounted in place, high Center of gravity shouldn’t be an issue as mounting larger tires means wider tires and in order to not rub frame most mount them on offset wheels, as for the gap between body and engine having that extra space to work with is a blessing when it comes to oil pressure sensor and distributor cap and rotor. Issues you didn’t touch on is most body lift kits come with a piece of pipe to install on fuel filler neck as well as an extension for the steering shaft. Bumpers have relocation brackets. Seeing the frame from under the truck ??? Adding any lift brings the frame more into view add a 6” or more lift and you’ll definitely start noticing the frame. Body lift or no body lift is a preference but also an easy fix for those looking for that little extra space possibly needed to fit larger tires. If you’re interested in a body lift get informed beforehand check for all options available as well as parts you may need that doesn’t come with the kit, if you don’t install it yourself at the very least bring it to a shop that has experience installing them as no shop should ever say they can’t raise a bumper 😂 as for the spare there’s relocation for the insert tool as having it sit in your box takes up valuable space at least this one is tied down as I’ve seen others having them just loose (hit a bump hard enough makes for good videos though) and any trail riding having to climb in the box looking for the spare only to realize you lost it somewhere on the trail well that brings out a new vocabulary.
Derelict you said you didn’t like seeing too much of the frame, any lift begins to show more of the underside of the truck and yes you can install wheel well gap liners in the rear when doing a body lift so you don’t notice the box no longer sitting on the frame although most body lift kits include weld on plates for some areas of the box cause if there’s cross bracing not supported you won’t be able to place much in the box without causing droop, and most body lift kits give you the bumper extensions or offer it as an add on. I’m guessing though you don’t see much off-roading as you don’t even perform your own work or have very little knowledge about the subjects you speak of. Spend some time wrenching and testing out products before making the videos, get some knowledge and experience
I was thinking of getting a small body lift specifically so the engine was lower... so you can access the rear of the motor better.. try to access the the rear valve cover bolts in a stock lift
I have a 3in on my silverado and everything is fine. step 1 take the body lift off its that easy. you are the only person with these sorts of complaints
I feel like there was lack of research on your part for a body lift on understanding what it actually does. Did you not think there was going to be a gap? Did you also think for some reason everything under the hood was going to move with the body? Its a 1.5" body lift if you need a ladder to get into your engine bay now, what was going to happen if you put a 6" suspension lift in? I think this is a poor example to people really looking into not spending a grand or more on a suspension lift. In short, to anyone still thinking about a body lift DO IT!!!!!! There are ways to hide a body lift and if you understand that body lifts are designed to be a cheap alternative to extra height. I believe this falls under the "you get what you pay for category" dont expect great things for a $200 lift
Should've bought the RC body lift. It fixes your front and back bumper alignments. Cheap fender liners fix the gaps and some side steps fix the frame showing. That front bumper looks great to you?! Nowhere near being right.
uni-body. The frame is built into the under body of the vehicle. There is no solid one piece frame for the body to sit on. This is a little irrelevant because almost all trucks have a solid frame. Usually its cars that don't. Probably would not work on some SUV's as well, depending how they are made.
you do know they sell a cover to stop that gap from showing i have a 2 inch in body lift, so there is quite a bit of gap, between my trucks body and frame. after i bought it there was no gap
No spare tire? No biggy....just add a compressor, air tank, and a few plugs in the door. All that will fit underneath is stock basically. If you have decent offroad sized tires 35" and up, your truck is basically going to be tetering with 1 stock tire on anyways. Plugs and air compressor....
Bro, the body gap is totally personal preference not a reason to NOT get it... 2. They make spare tire adapter that fit for body lifts.... 3. If you’re going with a body lift, u should be getting it for tire clearance... bud you’re running 33s on a 1500...
@@Derec ya bc most dont what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to suspension, 1 to 2" body lifts are normal, no one does above that. then u have to re mount your bumper mounts... again there made for tire clearence, a 750 dollar bds lift will be a better ride, more lift without the frame showingu
That's the life of having a lift man....use a top side creeper if need be but what you get from a lift is worth it.. as many of the comments state, they have gap covers and bumper brackets to lift it right....
I'm gonna body lift my 2000 chevy silverado just to fit my 24x12s and you're reasons are not even bad I have covers for the gap aka the wheel well covers I can't even use a small spare anyway so...
Finally just finished the full video. With suspension and body lift you went up 5 inches and then you turned around and complained about how the bodylift made your truck look. Why didn't you just get a 6 inch suspension lift? Had it on my Ram and dude my truck would crush yours for half the price 😂
Omg and now he’s bitching that “they” didn’t even cut his frame when they installed the body lift. Wtf?!?!? Literally have never, would never to this to install a body lift that take three hours to install by yourself.
THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME! "So, like- definitely the primary reason like, not to get a body lift is like, well, if I had to like, combine ALL the reasons together, so there weren't like- 5 different reasons separated from each other, individually- I guess it could be summed up and added together, rolled into one massive ball of objections, like I would just say, for me, maybe not like, for anyone else, but totally for me, for sure I'd maybe say the main, primary reason not to get a body lift is the reality that, rather than your truck being down low like it was from the factory, when they made it, instead- the whole truck body, the body of the entire truck is like- HIGHER, and yeah... Like- I can't really like, say that I actually like it raised like that, (I mean, I've gotten used to it, so it's not that bad, it's just- well, the body lift LIFTED like- the whole body of the truck, and it's not where it was before, so...)" COMEDY GOLD!
Dang, neither Zone nor Rough Country offer suspension lifts for a 2000 rwd Dodge Dakota. At this point I have to go with a body lift because I have yet to find a suspension lift that would work for that truck. And why do I want to lift a 2wd? Because he’s a pavement princess who sometimes gets used as a work truck. Plus I like the look of lifted trucks 🙂
You realize that if you get a body lift or a suspension lift your center of gravity is going to go up. Also why are you going to "squeal" the tires just because you have a lifted truck.
I really apreaciate this video because someone told me to look into a body lift if I wanted to lift my jeep for a cheaper price and all the reasons you mentioned would kill me if I had to look at that. so thank you. will definitely be spending the extra cash!

Another benefit to more room under the hood with the body lift is the hot air has more room to circulate.
but dirt can get in easier too
For the exhaust gap; just cut it down, buy a piece of bent pipe and weld it back on. Pretty simple and not that expensive. And as for the bumper gap... you now know for next time to get the relocation brackets lol
The exhaust hanger would also need to be modified to lower the pipe
Upshift Z71 I thought you'd wanna raise the pipe to minimize the gap. But it could probably be done behind the hanger anyway
The spare tire situation is easy to fix. and no one would ever be dumb enough to even think about cutting their frame.
for zone the rear is separate
Gap in the rear we'll could be covered up with a liner 😆🤣 lol
The downside to the liners are the collection of road salt and dirt
Very informative I was thinking about a body lift but your video brought out some things I wouldn't have been able to live with. Thanks
no problem!
Go get a custom exhaust put on or a muffler shop will move the tip up.
foot steps will decrease ground clearance, whole exhaust would have to be modified
Upshift Z71 not whole exhaust. And the foot steps will not decrease ground clearance unless you want the damn steps to drop to the ground but how often are you gonna be going off-road in the truck?
well then eventually water will build into the pipe being at an angle? I go now and then, I use to have steps, I do not think they look good.
Literally none of these reasons have made me turn against buying a 3" body lift for my bronco.
just a bad look in general
You must not have seen a Bronco sitting 2ft higher.
can I have my 7:30 back? you installed a BODY LIFT!!!! what did you expect from the engine? did you expect engine to be lifted too?????
was hoping for better ascetic results
Talks aboit how the body lift would make it harder to work on his engine? Can tell this guy probably doesn't know how to change his oil lmao
under the hood scenarios
I'm confused.reason one.you said it didn't look good, but it did look good and it doesn't bother you.reason two,the spare tire, you were going to take off anyways because of the rust.so I stopped watching...doesn't make sense
it was almost impossible to take down that spare tire because of the body lift
Yes of course there are some downfalls to a body lift and you do have to make some modifications....a body lift itself is a modification...nothing you mentioned was anything that could not be fixed and make it look right....I've seen plenty of body lift that look just fine and you can cover up those gaps very easily.... I have an old F250 with a 3 inch body lift and you know what?....I thought that I was going to remove it and lower the body back down because I don't need 37 inch tires.... after working on the truck it makes things so much easier to get to underneath that I actually love having a body lift now. Nothing wrong with it if done right.
yr=e
Hell yeah thanks bro you really really saved us a lot
no problem
The rear wheel wells do not have fender liners and a suspension lift does not lower the frame from the body
I was thinking of getting a small body lift specifically so the engine was lower... so you can access the rear of the motor better.. try to access the the rear valve cover bolts in a stock lift
yes
I have a 3in on my silverado and everything is fine. step 1 take the body lift off its that easy. you are the only person with these sorts of complaints
nothing competes against a suspension lift
This was painful
no
"Rainman" makes a youtube vid.
I prefer the sun
Geez way to noob it up
lol
This is the prefect reason why u research pros and cons or suspension vs body lifts. Way to leap before looking Bro.
Yea, I was just too excited and determined to add height to my truck!
Some people are not aware of the research I have already done
Should've bought the RC body lift. It fixes your front and back bumper alignments. Cheap fender liners fix the gaps and some side steps fix the frame showing. That front bumper looks great to you?! Nowhere near being right.
well I decided to fix everyone up with the zone brackets
Man your truck looks good what are you talking about, you just learn and live
6:53 wait you can't get a body lift kit for a unit-body vehicle..because their is no frame to separate lol I'm kinda confused
uni-body. The frame is built into the under body of the vehicle. There is no solid one piece frame for the body to sit on. This is a little irrelevant because almost all trucks have a solid frame. Usually its cars that don't. Probably would not work on some SUV's as well, depending how they are made.
That's exactly what I thought lol kinda weird it was even mentioned. But over all dude has a sweet truck
yes thanks
you do know they sell a cover to stop that gap from showing i have a 2 inch in body lift, so there is quite a bit of gap, between my trucks body and frame. after i bought it there was no gap
Yes I eventually installed the covers, however the covers do trap dirt
the video is too long. i couldnt finish watching either. spit out the five reasons and be done. 5 to 7 minutes tops.
lol
Upshift Z71 your replies are repetitive and lame. fuck off
No spare tire? No biggy....just add a compressor, air tank, and a few plugs in the door. All that will fit underneath is stock basically. If you have decent offroad sized tires 35" and up, your truck is basically going to be tetering with 1 stock tire on anyways. Plugs and air compressor....
Camo Jump Starter with Air Compressor
Should be labeled I'm stupid ass and have no idea how my truck works and I don't know what a body lift does.
check out the new and improved content
Guy is a car guru I hope he makes more videos so I can get dumper
Just trying to help ya'll
Put a small suspension lift on it and bigger tires it'll look alot better
yea I the truck is rocking the rcx 3.5
Maybe if your tires weren’t training wheels you could cover that gap
oh I changed that new check the new videos
Damn city slicker
You may have missed the backwoods within a few feet
Spare tire can be brought down using a ratchet with square drive.
had to use a joint socket but most spare tire winches rust out completely
@@Derec yes. True. I buy the Chinese knock off ones from eBay. Probably only last a year in rust belt. You can lube them to make them last longer
He mentioned all that but didn't mention that you won't be able to tow???
the lift does not effect the frame hitch
For the gaps just out cut some plastic or sheet metal and there you go
would rather get the whole fender cover
Bro, the body gap is totally personal preference not a reason to NOT get it... 2. They make spare tire adapter that fit for body lifts.... 3. If you’re going with a body lift, u should be getting it for tire clearance... bud you’re running 33s on a 1500...
Most would not be pleased to see the visible body gap on a truck
@@Derec ya bc most dont what the fuck they're talking about when it comes to suspension, 1 to 2" body lifts are normal, no one does above that. then u have to re mount your bumper mounts... again there made for tire clearence, a 750 dollar bds lift will be a better ride, more lift without the frame showingu
That's the life of having a lift man....use a top side creeper if need be but what you get from a lift is worth it.. as many of the comments state, they have gap covers and bumper brackets to lift it right....
got to switch the lift soon
Thanks for the info , I was about to get a 3 inch body on a 12 inch suspension
yea because 12 inches of suspension will clear any tire
Derelict dude i seen this and busted out laughing 12 inches!!!!!your fine for ANY TIRE
Great video man!
I appreciate you, thanks.
I'm gonna body lift my 2000 chevy silverado just to fit my 24x12s and you're reasons are not even bad I have covers for the gap aka the wheel well covers I can't even use a small spare anyway so...
yea the huge tires will take the attention away from the body
Finally just finished the full video. With suspension and body lift you went up 5 inches and then you turned around and complained about how the bodylift made your truck look. Why didn't you just get a 6 inch suspension lift? Had it on my Ram and dude my truck would crush yours for half the price 😂
Ended up going with the smaller lift several months prior, would have rather went the same route you did
Omg and now he’s bitching that “they” didn’t even cut his frame when they installed the body lift. Wtf?!?!? Literally have never, would never to this to install a body lift that take three hours to install by yourself.
to relocate the front bumper
Like- I can't really like, say that I actually like it raised like that, (I mean, I've gotten used to it, so it's not that bad, it's just- well, the body lift LIFTED like- the whole body of the truck, and it's not where it was before, so...)" COMEDY GOLD!
but thanks
Dang, neither Zone nor Rough Country offer suspension lifts for a 2000 rwd Dodge Dakota. At this point I have to go with a body lift because I have yet to find a suspension lift that would work for that truck. And why do I want to lift a 2wd? Because he’s a pavement princess who sometimes gets used as a work truck. Plus I like the look of lifted trucks 🙂
Yes appreciating what you have is wisdom
dodge ram with bodylift the 4th gen actually look good with it
other brands can pull it off more than others
You must never really looked into getting it body lift and just went out and got one lol 😂😂😂
I should have gotten the bigger suspension lift
Yea at least a 5in or 6in that's perfect for your truck nd can fit pretty good size tires nd not have to adjust much!
Everything you stated is common sense! You get a body lift you should know all these things
and i fixed them all in the new videos
Install a running board and fender flare.

I don't get why all the hate. He's just giving his opinion. Agree or disagree, you don't have to be assholes about it.
thank you very much for the support
I was just kidding with you! nice truck like your sayin the 2500 & 3500 does show a lot more than the 1500. again ,nice truck.
thank you so much
You realize that if you get a body lift or a suspension lift your center of gravity is going to go up. Also why are you going to "squeal" the tires just because you have a lifted truck.
yes center gravity
I really apreaciate this video because someone told me to look into a body lift if I wanted to lift my jeep for a cheaper price and all the reasons you mentioned would kill me if I had to look at that. so thank you. will definitely be spending the extra cash!
oh yes!! Check out my other great vlogs!
