    Oh Christ, another car that because it isn't BMW, Mercedes, or Audi it gets criticised for the tiniest things. Having oil temperature is overkill? Really? Yet in other reviews, things are okay because at the end of the day, it's a Mercedes, or Audi...

    • @yvonnewood4724
      @yvonnewood4724 5 років тому +97

      I was thinking how nice it was to have an oil temperature gauge and voltmeter. To my mind they're both pretty essential gauges to see whether you're overworking the engine or it's not running very efficiently (oil temperature goes up), or the battery isn't being charged properly, using too many accessories or you've got an electrical fault. I really don't understand why car's don't have extra gauges these days.

      I'd agree with that. Touchscreen only infotainment systems are so bad, like Matt showed here, imagine if you're driving and you need to do something on there and have to lean forward plus take your eyes off the road. They need to keep the wheel based system plus the touchscreen, so you have best of both. All they do with the extra space is have that little storage compartment at 3:29.

    Is it just me or is Matt being particularly nit-picky about this car?
    I mean complaining about the feel of a rear view mirror, really?
    The look & feel of the rear seat USB ports, come on Matt.
    Vauxhall have to find ways to keep the costs down on items that don't matter.
    Also, Matt....you leave the bonnet open & then moan you get hear the diesel engine, you see all of the insulation, if the bonnet was closed that insulation would then work.
    Also, the Insignia is built in Germany, so you'd think Matt would actually go easy on it like one of his beloved Audis.

    • @TL-xw6fh
      @TL-xw6fh 5 років тому +21

      Just like every other "car journalist", he's in awe with anything with a German name. Does he not even know that this car is designed and developed in Germany? Indeed some of the worst cars in terms of quality and reliability are German, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes and especially VW. Just look at the readers comments in Honest John car reviews where they tell it at it is.

    • @traffbros
      @traffbros 5 років тому +6

      @@TL-xw6fh Worst in quality and reliability. Can you please tell me which other similar brands have better quality? I drove quite a few different brands, and I own 2 Audis now. In term of reliability, there's plenty of these brands on road with hundreds of thousands miles. People dont really take care of the cars nowadays, that is the biggest issue. You got idiots who just buys diesels, and use them to drop kids to school, for example, and the DPF fucks up then. They go out and cry the car is trash. Difference between german cars and other brands, is that you really feel a difference when you drive them, and they blend this with pretty good quality, but, again, comes with costs, who's not up to pay for it, shouldn't own one imo

    I own the equivalent .. In Australia.. tuned thoughin Australia by Aussie engineers.. and much lither. The 4 cylinder 2 litre petrol turbo.. I own one it a brilliant car on the road.. you can lope along at 112 kl per hour at avery nice and cruisy between 1250 and 1400 revs per minute. the 191kw and 35nm of torque and low kerb weight.. about 1530 hundred weight the acceleration between 90 and 140 is brilliant.. this car is perfect.. pace and saloon characteristics .. It handles like a gazelle yet you feel it's grip and solidity at every turn. Brakes are superb, trusts builds immediately. The hatch back, Holden call it lift back, is great to gain access as it rises high. The only thing I would like is if it was automated. The Infotainment system is washed out looking, pastel coloured, not as pretty as the lippy rich screen of other cars. But the functionality if Android Auto is perfect ,all undertaken by voice commands, even able to send texts and edit these by voice.

    6:45 “got to tick everything off the list haven’t I?” Yes Mat that’s exactly what this review feels like, a somewhat incongruous slating of a seemingly perfectly practical and class leading car for the money. You’ve raised issues with this car that haven’t been mentioned in VW group cars with the same issue for example. And the cars praises are just brushed over. It’s not supposed to be a 3 series or a c class so reviewing it with those expectations is just ridiculous. Also the complaint about the damped glovebox is ridiculous for the person who rants an raves about damping in Volkswagen how it’s the hallmark of quality.

    So it's basically just good. For anyone who doesn't care about driving and isn't an image snob this seems like a really good choice. Guessing virtually nobody watching this would ever buy one, unless they do a VXR and it's not terrible this time. I do like the styling though, and Vauxhall interior design is definitely better than some of the crap out there (Ford/BMW I'm looking at you).

      Lol Vauxhall interior better than BMW😂😂. I'm not a fan of BMW but this is ridiculous.

    • @ApothecaryTerry
      @ApothecaryTerry 5 років тому +13

      Not sure I'd say Vauxhall interiors are better than BMW without other factors, but for the price certainly yes. BMW interiors are disappointing and wear really badly- after 50k they look worn and nasty. I actually like BMWs (although the fanboys irritate me) so I'm not trying to bash them, I just find the interior quality really off-putting (which is why after a shortlist of 3 cars I don't drive an M240i or 440i that I was looking at). For the price I'd say BMW interiors wear worse than anything else I've seen and I find the styling flat and uninteresting although that 2nd point is obviously subjective. I'd suggest though that after 100k miles you'll be able to read all the buttons on this Vauxhall, while on a 3 series that's just not happening.
      Edit: I should make it clear, for £20k I'd consider a used BMW but not any Vauxhall, I'm only comparing interior quality...

    • @ApothecaryTerry
      @ApothecaryTerry 5 років тому +5

      Meaningless insulting comments by Fapboi Hardon proving the Dunning-Kruger effect. Surprisingly I've had a number of sensible debates in UA-cam comments sections, but on any car video you have to say "yay BMW are the best at everything" because even an i3 is the most fantastic car ever due to nothing except the badge. Don't even care if you're a BMW fanboy, your existence here has, as usual, only detracted from everyone else's.

    • @georgiamcdermott5140
      @georgiamcdermott5140 5 років тому +2

      Agreed that Ford interiors are poor (take the new Fiesta for quality and haphazard design choices) and the BMW 1 Series especially for being REALLY cheap. The sun visors are a real poor point. Anyone defending BMW obviously hasn't sat in the new Insignia or hasn't sat in a modern BMW.
