  • There is no doubt that fast food has changed the way we eat. Almost everyone in America has eaten at a fast food restaurant in some form or another. Even if you never went to a fast food restaurant or live very far from the nearest chain, you know the concept of it as it’s embedded in American culture. But 120 years ago there weren’t any fast food restaurants, although the concept of a fast food dates back to the Romans, it didn’t really become a mainstay until the introduction of the Automat. This is the history of Horn and Hardarts and it’s rise to glory and eventual downfall

While growing up my father would bring the whole family into NYC to waste a Saturday away. We often passed the automat and I always wanted to eat there. It never happened....we always ended up eating in China Town or in the Village. It would have been nice just to say "I was there."

I loved the fascination of people and food behind the windows. I loved their pumpkin pie and vegetable specials.

The narrator of this video reveals time and time again he is not a professional narrator.

I think the poor guy has a speech impediment so please be kind to him ( but it sounded like he kept calling Hardart Hart ... making it sound like one syllable , which did get on my nerves . )

Loved the script, images and always happy to hear a human voice rather than computer generated voice- I think it's great video.

What’s up with your voice? It’s hard understanding you and your microphone keeps popping. You should have a guest narrator and use a pop filter screen for the microphone

Great video, but get someone else to read the voice over. Made me stop watching after 2 minutes. Bit of advice that’s all.
