      I've just started looking at different stuff for polishing. My main concern was getting this thing squared away mechanically and fixing those pesky air and wiring issues. I like the idea of getting an air powered one. Would be better than constantly going through the battery on my ryobi grinder

  • @fritzduval
    @fritzduval Місяць тому +2

    You should always always tuck away vehicle mirrors on a trailer, especially a full size truck 😮

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks for the comment! Mirrors really only need to be folded in if you're hauling them backwards. Otherwise it's just driver preference.

    • @fritzduval
      @fritzduval Місяць тому +2

      @@CrossbuckRVTransport agree with that fact, however on the full size truck when parked at a truck stop. Some of these new drivers will come in at a angle depending on the parking situation and boom, your mirror goes by by, especially if they have a hang over on pipes, wood or even a RV. ✌️. Congrats on your new family member 👏

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому +2

      @fritzduval they will catch my trailer before they catch those mirrors, unless they're really talented lmao 🤣

    How do you get away with having a stack?
    Neither Bennets nor Horizon will allow a truck with a stack. Bennets is/was my first choice

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому +1

      Well, those are the only 2 carriers that care about stacks so that's how I "get away with it" lol. I actually didn't know Horizon has a policy against that now. Bennett has always been against it, but they pay really well and have a lot of freight, so if they're your first choice I'd consider putting on a ground burner.
      But if you're not wanting to go that route, Synergy, Mapletree, Indiana Transport, and many others have no issue with trucks with stacks.

    • @nickaltvater5592
      @nickaltvater5592 Місяць тому +1

      @CrossbuckRVTransport guess I chose the ones that don't like my truck 😕.
      I'm going to wait until next year before signing on.

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому

      @@nickaltvater5592 I think that is a great idea. Many carriers do not even lease drivers on in December. The manufacturers are about to enter the winter shutdown, usually about 2 weeks or so from just before Christmas until after Jan 1. But there should be plenty of companies looking for drivers come mid January, even those who do not care about stacks. I wish you the best of luck in 2025 and if you ever want to discuss further, I'd be happy to get you some more info through email. Take care and stay safe!

    What make and model trailer is that? Does your carrier dispatch you?

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому

      Trailer model is 53SDAR which is exactly what it spells, 53' Stepdeck Air-Ride. Not super creative but it does the trick lol. It's manufactured locally by Shipshe Trailers in Shipshewana, IN

    • @TruckingUnfiltered
      @TruckingUnfiltered Місяць тому

      @CrossbuckRVTransport does your carrier dispatch you, or do you dispatch yourself?

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому

      Carrier provides the outbound loads, but drivers self dispatch over the phone or email based on the loads that are available. Some even have a loadboard app you can book on.
      Cars and other reloads usually come from online load boards and through customers or brokers on Central Dispatch. Once booked by the driver, the carrier dispatchers will make up BOLs and email them over.

    do you have your own authority ?

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому +2

      No I do not. I am leased to a carrier, which is about 90% of what drivers do in this industry. There are a few who go out and get their own authority and usually get small contracts with dealerships instead of the big manufacturer contracts.

    A $130,000 pickup truck should be transported by an enclosed trailer not an open trailer. Putting it on an open trailer is just looking for a damage claim.

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому +1

      While I can't argue with that logic... the only enclosed trailers that these trucks would fit in are the tractor trailer style that those like Reliable Transportation use. And given their size, I'd imagine they probably charge too much for that option to be feasible as it would take up at least 3 spots in their trailer due to height and length.
      These trucks have been going on open deck trailers since Tuscany Motor Co. inception back in 1988, so I trust their judgement as well as my own cargo management skills.

    From where did you lease the trailer ? and how much are you paying monthly ?

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you!
      And to answer your question, I have a lease purchase agreement for my trailer from my carrier. They want a minimum payment of $1500/mo and that comes in the form of a 30cpm deduction on all outbound freight and 10cpm on all reload freight. In my first month, I ran enough that I ended up paying $2500, and I hope to continue that trend so I can pay it off in about 2 years instead of the 3 it would take at the monthly minimum.

    • @gr74inc37
      @gr74inc37 Місяць тому +1

      @@CrossbuckRVTransport 36 x 1500$ =54000$ for the trailer , Synergy doesn't have the same lease program like Wave or Horizon has ?

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому

      @gr74inc37 I don't know the details, but from what I remember the Horizon lease isn't a LP deal, it's just a convention lease.
      And 3 years was rounding up, my trailer which was new, was $49k. So 33 months technically.

    • @CrossbuckRVTransport
      @CrossbuckRVTransport  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks for the comment. I've said time and time again on this channel that I use the term interchangeably with the term reload. But in all honesty backhaul is more accurate. Because you will never find a reload paying as well as the outbound loads in this industry.
