The Eastern Sierra is amazing! FYI: The radio telescopes are there in the valley due to minimal local radio interference because of the mountains, not because of the lack of light.
When I was in the antelope valley astronomy club we got to go on a tour of the observatory and went inside of the big one and heard the signal from voyager 1that was amazing
You are a national treasure. Who else could pull off a "devils jism" comment (pun intended) and not offend anyone? You offer the most human reviews of out of the way spots of anyone.
What's amazing about California is even though 40 million people live here, there are still countless acres of pristine wilderness, mountains, parks, forests, lakes where you can go and be by yourself in a quiet place alone. California is still the greatest country on Earth.
Every time I fly to L A coming in from the North East it seems like This vast world of sand and rock. Then suddenly nothing but folage homes buildings and cement. All the way to the pacific
@@tomrinde4487California has 342 miles of public beach, some the most beautiful in the country. I could never live back East because there is so little public land.
I've been wanting to see the Lake Crowley columns for a long time now! Last couple times I was up there could not :( Thanks for sharing!! the 395 is my fav area to road trip in CA hands down!
Formation The pillars were simply regarded as oddities until 2015 when geologists from UC Berkeley realized that they were the result of frigid water from melting snow seeping down into volcanic ash (the result of a catastrophic eruption more than 760,000 years prior), creating tiny holes in the hot ash, the byproduct being boiling water and steam, which then rose up, creating convection cells, which later filled with minerals more resistant to erosion than the surrounding volcanic ash.
We were out riding our motorcycles one day and went up Hamilton road to the Lick/Hamilton Observatory above San Jose California. Officially the observatory was closed but this lady working as a docent let us in and gave us a whole guided tour. Very cool!!!! Appreciate it and always will remember it.
YAY the old Wonderhussy is back. This is one of the most uplifting and entertaining videos you have ever made. I'm glad you chose to stay the course and provide us viejitos with boundless limitless enjoyment!!!
Beautiful lady, can I just tell you that you have a beautiful soul! Thank you again for going to such awesome places! Your badass! Mother Earth protects you, because you always clean up. People are disgustingly selfish leaving their trash everywhere, but don’t fear WH will take care of it! Thank you! I wanted to tell you be safe with the beer cans, in your rig! If you got pulled over, the cops would think they are yours, especially within hands reach! Please be safe! That was so beautiful, and informative. 💜
I was just up that way fishing. Crowley has great trout fishing. But the place is so packed you can walk across the boats they are so close to each other on opening day. It does get cold up there and I have fished on Crowley in late spring and snow was still falling on the lake. Thanks for the sweet video. Oh yes one more thing, June Lake also has fantastic accomodations to stay at and nice camping spots for RVs. Fishing superb too.
Hey Ms Huss, love the columns at the lake!! There awesome 👍 My God what did we do before you came along? Watched Huell Hauser I guess...🤔 but he didnt go nearly as many places of abandoned cabins or mines? So thanks for being the new pioneer woman that you are!!! We just love you. Happy Independence Day to you and your sister, plus all who read this as well. 🇺🇲 🎇🗽🧨🎊

Sarah got one little detail incorrectly. The location of those Radio 'Telescopes' are in that location, not because of the zero light pollution there, but minimum /low terrestrial radio interference.
I live in Big Pine. Those first springs also have endangered pup fish living in them, one of five locations where they still survive. The other warm springs really are disgusting .......

Really nice video, Sarah. I do hope you get in contact with the folks from CalTech's Owens Valley Radio Observatory -- I'd love to see it in more detail, and they just sound like cool people, don't they though?
Ha ha this is too funny Wonderhussey I sure love what you do and I’m not gonna admit in the comments what I’d be willing to pay to be that W in your passenger seat. I’m gonna look into the radio site. I feel like I could make a pretty cool video riding through all the satellites on my motorcycle. Thanks for taking us along again you always do such a great job.
Down in the southwest on some of the hiking trails in the canyon country, cairns are arranged to mark the trail along rock surfaces so you don’t get lost and can find your way back.
Saw this on YT ! There used to be a business in Southern Indiana, I think. That bottled spring water it was called Happy Water.Studies and water tests showed it had Lithium in it.Oh Boy 🗽🥰
Yes, the columns do remind of Venice. Beautiful. Thank you for giving us a tour. If they allowed camping there would be a lot of trash, and probably vandals knocking down some of the columns just to see them fall.
Good on ya, SJ! Any lesser hussy would have just brushed past the telescope area provisions and shot video regardless… but as always, you honor and respect this big playground we live in - while turning in an unexpectedly awesome, informative and leech-free experience 🎉 May better asada fries and fewer stinky beer cans be in your very near future! Hi Sarah. Ive just seen an article on internet about death valley & the mysterious moving rocks that seem to glide over the sand? It would be interesting if you covered them in a future vlog?🤔
Crowley Lake is one of my favorite places to visit in the Eastern Sierras. My dad took me there the first time I went, so it holds a special place in my heart. There is a great BLM campground right across the highway and it is so close to so many hot springs.
Walking around without chonies is referred to as porky pigging it. As porky doesn't wear pants yet wears a shirt. So many innuendos in this video. Assada fries columns made of Ash, Asswater springs. But it was interesting 🤔
I take it back. we barely missed you at June Lake Brewery on that Friday. Kind of left when the girl guitar what's playing and talking about how she travels on a budget and works on farms to do it 😂!
Driving around today here on the Central Coast. Passed a Tela Super Station. Every hookup filled. It looked like a giant colony of ticks.. Sucking juices. The good side is that none of them can get to the places I enjoy going to and back out again. Even the E Truck.
I was glad that you didn't totally dislike the fries😊 They were better with a JLB IPA🤣 And at least you didn't totally waste your time coming back up since you got to see the columns👍
Does the sheriff enforce the rules for the LADWP? Screw that lot, they always taking water from up north. I saw automatic sprinkles come on in the rain in Los Angeles.
I’ve hiked telescope peak several times. One ☝️ f my all time favorite hikes. However, they don’t allow dogs on that trail. Since I do have a dog nowadays, and he’s my hiking partner, I haven’t hiked it in 13 years.
I had a carne asada burrito plate yesterday; I thought of you... Those columns and their formation are amazing. I've seen a lot of stalactites/stalagmites; similar but way different in formation. I'm not interested in leech encounters!
