Great review! I have flirted with the idea of adding a Canon G15 to my equipment list for some time as the carry it everywhere convenience is appealing. Normally I shoot with a Nikon D7100, D500, or D700 depending upon subject matter. Having purchased a slightly used G15 last week I've used it half a dozen times thus far and love it! It features pretty much all the controls and options of my Nikons and once I got used to the Anon menu system I think it's superior to that of Nikon. The compact size, light weight, and live histogram features are simply awesome! What a joy to be freed from the heavy weight and cumbersome size of my Nikons! Better yet overall image quality for on screen presentation is superb. Haven't made any prints yet but given the tiny sensor I don't doubt that image quality will be less than on my Nikons. All in all the G 15 is a great little camera...in fact I bought a second one for my wife and she loves it too.
Thank you for this video. The Canon G15 is still a great little camera I enjoy using, today's date is 12/18/2021 and will be using it in 2022 and onward. Happy Holidays
Great Video. I've been out of digital photography for a long time. I've just been using the camera on my phone for years. I'm finally looking to buy a used digital camera. There are so many cameras to choice from on EBay. I just can't decide. Spend $35 for a decent point-and-shoot. $75 for say a G15, or spend $125+ and get a full frame sensor camera. $20-$50 range Point and Shoot Canon Powershot S100, or DSC-H70, or DSC-W690 Sony Cyber-Shot equivalents Fujifilm FinePix S Series 4500 - big zoom Nikon CoolPix - L120 - big zoom $75-$125 range Canon G12, or G15 $125-$150 range Sony Alpha NEX 3, or 5N, or 5T mirrorless full frame Canon EOS Rebel DSLR Sony Alpha DSLR and the list goes on and on....
It is of course personal choice. I've taken 10 x more shots with the Canon G15 compared to the Sony. I've always found the handling and ease of use of the G15 was more important than the slightly better sensor on the Sony. G15 wins for me in 2022.
Thanks for the video. I still have my G16. I am looking for a more rugged camera. What are your thoughts on the Nixon W300 with action shoots? My family and I do trail riding.
In my view, the W300 is a camera that always travels with me, in addition to whatever other camera I have with me. So the combos, are W300 plus iPhone, and/or, GoPro 9, Nikon DSLR's/Mirrorless, Leica M. The Canon G15 and Sony rarely get used these days. If only one camera can be taken, for all conditions, it is the W300.
this is a very lovely video, thank you for sharing your experience ^^ i'm a student looking for something to take photos, and the Canon G15 seems like a perfect candidate. i love this video, again much thank you!
I’m thinking of using my Canon G15 for some outside gimbal shots for a short documentary. I’ll be using it with a canon 5d mark ii and a 1D mark iv, which also shoot 1080p. The doc will be in black and white. Do you think this would be a good choice?
Absolutely, as a film shooter, the G15 is an excellent choice to transition to digital. I still use it from time to time even though I have latest releases of Nikon mirrorless and Leica digital gear. Great to shoot film and digital.
@@Adventure8 thank you! The unit that im buying comes with a ‘lens extender’, idk how it works. Had to buy a point and shoot digicam because film prices are going nuts here in the PH. I chose g15 because its compact like a rangefinder but the functionality is more modern than film cams. Anyways leica is one of my dream RF hahaha

Well done. I'll have to get mine out again and take some shots.

Fujifilm FinePix S Series 4500 - big zoom
Nikon CoolPix - L120 - big zoom

Canon EOS Rebel DSLR
Sony Alpha DSLR
and the list goes on and on....
Get all free, for little investment, there is lots to learn from all 3 camera types. Happy learning.
It's 2023, and the Sony RX 100 mk 1 that I bought in 2018--it was quite cheap then--continues to take brilliant shots.
Fantastic.
G15 or RX100, which one do you think better in 2022 ,pls answer

Yes the G15 should do a great job with a gimbal. Without a gimbal, GoPro, 7,8, 9 or 10 do the best job.
Thank you for this. Super helpful!

Thank you this was very helpful:)
Glad it was helpful!
I'm thinking about buying this instead of buying a cybershot or the more expandable ones. Seems like a good choice
👍
They're all relevant if they're working. Like my Kiev 3AM film camera. If the bugger works it'll do for me.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi g15 its better than g16 or g1x ? I cant decide what to buy ;/
Good question. I'm sure you will get good value which ever one your choose.
@@Adventure8 thanks
Is the g15 still worth it today? Im using film cameras and this is my very first digital if ever
