Does a GTX 1060 Hold Up in 2021?

- With the release of Nvidia’s RTX 30 series featuring their new Ampere technology, an entirely new bar has been set for processing power in dedicated GPUs. Being priced roughly the same as the previous generation, while boasting a significant increase in processing power has the RTX 30 series rendered all previous gen cards obsolete? Or could it still be a good investment to purchase an older card in 2021? In this video we break down multiple benchmarks to answer that exact question.

1060 gang rise up
🤘
✌️
We here bro✌
here for u ✌️
Don’t have one but about to buy a used one
I'm not ready for my 1060 to be considered a shit card yet. Chug on my little war machine.
As long you are content with primarily gaming in 1080p and the game is properly optimized, the 1060 still holds up well.
@@LibertarianGamer-ff5tg it can also game many games at 1440p 60 fps easily
can it run 2160p with smooth 60fps?
@@HelixVR_ on older games from like up to 2012 yeah

Since all I play is wow and some call of duty I don't see needing to upgrade anytime soon. Still rocking well over 60fps on high settings. I play 1080p 144hz
If You play 60 fps at 144hz You are using 60hz not 144. Also Your video is sneazing.
@@Zimny913 your refresh rate does not magically change to 60hz if your monitor's refresh rate is 144 hz and you're getting less frames. you just aren't driving enough frames to meet the max refresh rate of the display.
I’d rather play in 1080p then 4K that way I can get more FPS I’m not welling to drop a bunch of money to game in 4K when I don’t really see much of a difference in 4K yea it’s little more sharper that’s about it
Just got a 3070 after using this card in a LAPTOP for 2 years. Even in a laptop, It really ran preeetty good.
what psu are you running ? i’m using a cosair 750 and i’m not sure if that’s what causing my games to crash to the desktop. still trying to figure out the problem but i was thinking if i should go down lower to a 650.
I've had the 1060 6gb for the past 3-4 years and I upgraded to a 3060 Ti a few days ago. I am getting great performance but I definitely miss my 1060 :)
I'm trying to get into pc gaming would 1060 or 1060 super be good
@@milk-hz6qn lmao there's no 1060 super but a 3gb and 6gb variant and yeah it'll be a good build
Nice man, I made a secondary mini itx pc with mine
I'd say YES it DOES! I just need to upgrade my display cpu and aesthetics and I'm done for the year. I'm just gonna wait until next Spring for them to be in full stock mode with local retailers like Bestbuy etc. :)
If u have a 4 core i really recommend going to a 6 core

@@nemk2204 yea forsure with optifine youll get really good performance you could easily run some good shaders on survival
Back in the day playing Tom Clancy's Rogue Spear we had to manipulate every setting to get 30 fps. That was the goal as 30 fps to the human eye and brain was considered fluid. Put together many PC's since then and have been using the 1060gtx 6gig for last couple years in a very expensive gaming set up.(everything is top tier components except 1060) Needed a new PC for upstairs and bought a Cyberpower PC that has the 1660 super in it and played the same games and really noticed an improvement in fps. The prices are so ignorantly high right now I think I'm going to swap the gpu's for now. The prices are so bad that you might as well buy a whole new system just to get the 3060,3070 graphics card.. Something wrong about that.
Wait you’re getting 130 fps at 1080p low? I have a 1060 6gb running all low settings 1080p and I’m averaging 55-70 fps. Any ways to fix this low fps?
Optimise your power plan as well as nvidia control panel settings . If you wanna make sure you are utilising the cpu effectively then don't forget to enable all your cpu cores !! And clean temp files from your pc it'll make ur pc faster. (Determine which nvidia driver version works best for your card cuz sometimes rolling back the version actually provides better performance than the latest so test the waters on that aspect I'd say)
I'd also like to add that RAM can effectively enhance performance if it's A- sufficient (e.g. 16gb ram) B- dual channel. If both points were to be achieved then performance will be boosted :]
I have a question. I’m not sure if I should upgrade or modify my laptop. It’s a Lenovo Ideapad 310, and it’s an Intel Core i5.
It’s 4-5 years old, and I use that computer for content creating.
Problems:
1) Lag. I play Roblox, and it lags sometimes at lvl 2 for graphics. (Top is lvl 10)
2) Speed. Sometimes, it takes a while to load.
3) screen. My screen has a glitch where a few pixels glitch
Example.
----------
__________________
----------
What the example is is that a few pixels, (the _) turn slower than others (the -)
4) curser. I was recording, and I was clicking in a certain area, and couldn’t. Roblox has a special curser, but clicking in that certain area, the Roblox curser stops while the normal one kept moving on my command.
Should I upgrade or modify my laptop? I would like to know an opinion from a tech person without paying crazy money.
ALSO: My bearings on the fan are wearing out.
Hmmm seems like your laptop is in pretty rough condition. We actually made a video on this a year or two ago. I’d check it out! ua-cam.com/video/T1hawNQ7_bM/v-deo.html I’d personally recommend upgrading soon, but really evaluate your options before you go out and drop a ton of money on a laptop. Acknowledge what you’re planning on using it for, and base it around that.
Delete roblox

Still a great card. Plus if you get the Asus Strix edition then they're super overclockable and handle it like champs!
The thing to note here is that in your nvidia control panel you can alter the 3D graphics quality to boost your gpu performance I’m not sure if it’s done here but doing this for games I play I get a massive difference In performance. 2nd build i7 10700k 1060 6gb (placeholder)
Also my gpu was sold to me by a friend for 100 dollars.
I have a 1060 that I bought from 2020, so moving on to a 3070 to will definitely see a huge improvement, hopefully
How much are you willing to sell me your 1060
@@bobboxgaming8138 I'm keeping it
I feel like 1060 is enough for medium-high 60 fps. Definetly not dying yet
If you keep it clean and cool.
Does 1060 give high fps on warzone with medium low settings?
You should equalize the audio
me playing new world and barley keeping 60 fps with a 1060 super i was thinking about getting a new gpu and using 2 is that a good idea?
I have a GTX1060 6gb and played cyberpunk2077 on medium/high graphics with no problems they are not as polished as the highest settings, buy still look gorgeous and had no issue with frame rate
Would this card work with a game like Star Trek Online?
I’ve got one what should I upgrade to its beginning to struggle in some games
Well now is not the best time to upgrade, as there is a GPU shortage going on and most newer cards are out of stock or priced extremely high because of increased demand. I’d maybe hold off a little longer until they become consistently in stock, then possibly take a look at the RTX 3060 or 3070 models. One of those is what I’m looking to possibly upgrade to.
Just overclock it
idk dude im playing gta v at max settings with more fps and 0 lag, how u got that few fps?
I use 1060 6GB from almost 3 years and runs flawless. Recently played Cyberpunk at ultra graphics on 1080p with 60+ fps. I only upgraded my RAM and optimised OS. Fine setting and regular PC maintenance is required so your machine can run smoothly.
me too, but i got 7,9 RAM and got 144 fps in fortnite
@@felixtellegen7258 My RAM is 16GB 2666MHz.
@@DazePhase Good 4you
To give it another opinion, i have this beast in my setup since 2016 and the only thing i updated so far was my Ram to 32GB. It pulls of most of the recent games with around 30 to 60 fps withoput major problems. sure you dont have fancy shit like raytracing, but if your not a competetive player on shooters or want to play something in 4k, you dont need it. Till now, if you can pick up one of them with 6gb for under 300 its worth its money and you will have fun with it for atleast another 3 years.
can someone tell me what the ports on the gtx 1060 6gb are please
Is it still good in 2022
Is there a graphics card similar or better than the 1060 super?
Gtx 710
No card has convinced me to upgrade besides the most top of the line 3070s and 3080s.. i think I'll hold on till the 40 series cards
And upgrading the CPU/mobo when ddr5 comes out
Yes it does, I'm currently using it
I have a GTX 1060 6gb and i get around 90 to 100 frames on GTA 5 on medium settings. It runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 65 to 75 frames on medium settings. damm good card......
Price???

lol im getting good fps on gta 5 at max settings, what cpu you using?
hes using a ryzen 7 1700
Best performance for this card and monitor run at 1080p at 144hz, beyond that need to upgrade GPU for better fps
I can agree.
Running a MSI 32 inch curved monitor 144 hz paired with the 1060; it’s quite beautiful. This card can absolutely keep up in 2021. I feel no need to even go to a 2000 series card at all.
If it can run minecraft at 32 chunk at 60 fps I'd say keep it until it doesn't
I can't even get an RTX 2070 without them costing really expensive. Because of this I still need to use my GTX 1060.
Mhm and guess wut now a gtx 1060 is the only i repeat the only graphics card you’ll be able to afford til the end of 2022

Hey Thank you so much for this video. One question i have. Maybe you could answer. Can this card deliver game to 4K monitor ? If no . What twitching have to do play in 4k monitor? Anyone to take this question. Most welcome.

Most esport titles are very well optimized, so they are able to run on even some lower-end cards. If you’re using this card at 1080p, you’ll definitely get well over 60 FPS on most esport titles. Hope this helps! -CS
