    Ah, Its so nice to have a clear definition of what does and does not have a blacked out tail pan!! As a Chevelle guy if you want to start a fight bring that subject up with the 66-67 Chevelle with some experts. I am of the opinion that some plants painted them and some didn't...Its kinda like when you find SS emblems on the door cards. I have seen a few cars optioned the same exact way with and without the emblems from the factory...You have a good channel Parker...keep the hobby alive

      I heard 64, 65, z16 Malibu SS if the tail panel was painted black, it was a 375 horse big block 396. Is that not true? Not sure about 66 and 67 Chevelle super sports or the Camaros.

    It looks like it has an 837 big pulley alternator... which would be correct for an L78. ALSO check the tune up emissions decal - a CH is the 375. ALL SS's got black rockers, gill trim, headlamp trim, and vertical stick tail lamp trim.
    Being an early car it would have the longer stripe onto the fender extension...
    Also the painted stripe used a 2 piece template - the templates were never positioned perfect so there is a slight offset or mismatch about 4 inches behind the vertical area where the 396 emblem is. The original templates also had ticks holding the stickers correctly instead of being completely cut for layout, when the template was pulled the template paper ripped slightly causing a visible tick along the edge of the stripe. The ticks usually show every 4-6 inches.
    One low mile early built SS had a horribly mismatched template, the stripe came to a visible V - about 12" from the front of the fender.
    X2 - Big block with style trim.

    Appreciate the video. Been on craigslist for awhile now. Aint no way that pos is worth $20,000. No matching numbers, no documents, every part is rotted beyond repair. Selling a dream. Not worth restoring without the drivetrain. If he paid more than about $8000 for this 'barn find' then he got hosed. Somebody is looking for another sucker. It has a 396 and has the Big Block heater box , it also has the felt under the bonnet , a genuine cowl hood as i learnt from you how to tell .. Parker I live in the Northwest, actually Eastern Washington in a semi arid area. I used to find early Camaros that maybe had some pinholes in the trunk or below the rear window a little bit of rust. Vinyl top cars maybe a little extra rust and maybe some bubbling around the rear wheel well area or at the bottom back of the front fenders. However usually the car was savable with some careful metal patches and the car would go on to live a long life. However can this car realistically be saved as an original body car? If you dip it what would be left? Anyhow I am interested to see how your guys deal with that level of rust over there in the North East! How far would you go to bring that car back to life?

    • @tonyc9358
      @tonyc9358 18 днів тому

      Depending on who buys the car, rebodying it may be the less-expensive route versus replacing most, if not all, of the sheet metal, rockers, floors, and other body panels. If you have to replace most of the metal work, then a Dynacorn Camaro Coupe body (or equivalent, if one exists) may make sense, as it costs $13,500. This approach may enable you to avoid many of the skilled labor costs of piecing everything together if you cannot do the work yourself. Probably not the ideal solution for many from a pure preservation standpoint, but may be the more economical and practical approach. I do know this car is being sold as a package with several replacement body parts - original fenders and doors from donor cars - as well as a '69 front subframe and actual GM NOS quarters, not Dynacorn or AMD. That leaves the main floor panels and the rockers, and possibly parts of the firewall and dash. (The trunk floor appears to be mostly intact.) I'm sure many will view my answer as provocative - I'm not necessarily sold on the approach, but the economics may be the overriding factor for some.

But you know it's not our car he can research everything that it's supposed to be. But he wasn't at the assembly plant when that car was being built. So everything that he's saying is irrelevant, to have them good old boys felt that day building that car who knows. Everything does look good. While one could appreciate your enthusiasm again you're spewing all kinds of misinformation. The headrests in that car are not aftermarket. In fact they are factory GM headrests. You just don't know what you're looking at. Just like the Roadrunner that had the Cutlass bucket seats in it and you thought it was a custom interior. You seem to have retained what you've heard and seen but it's obvious you have not done your homework. I really think you should stop making videos until you know full well what you're talking about. For the record that car is good for parts only and not very many parts at that. It's far too rusty to be worth restoring. Unless you just have stupid money.
