  • The ice maker in my refrigerator died. It can take a few days to defrost but it has been out of order for over a month now. I have been meaning to get a countertop ice maker to use until the icemaker in my refrigerator starts working again. Luckily I got an ice maker sent to me to make a video about.

    I almost went with the brand you had but went with the Ionchill instead. I just started using it today and wasn't having much luck with it. It was only making a few small cubes, but it seems to be doing better. The scoop on top kept gliding over the ice and wouldn't put it into the bucket. If I' ever had a party I'd have to pay somebody to be the full time iceman.

      I think they take a few cycles to start to get the ice going. The ice starts out small but them once it starts working it will get bigger and the scoop should start working better. I am not familiar with the Lonchill but it looks similar.

    Now you gotta wait for the refrigerant to settle again since you turned it upside down to show the drainage hole. Mine only takes 9 minutes to freeze. See there I told you, if you had waited the Ice would have been right the first time

      Thanks! Yeah this is a pretty nice ice maker but it does need to sit upright for the refrigerant to settle.

    Do you pour anything into the machine when using self cleaning? Like vinegar, or need to fill it with water? Thank you for posting this, just bought one but doesn’t say much about what to do when self cleaning?!?

      I just rinsed it with water but I like to use a vinegar and water mixture when I clean it really good. You just may need to give it a few rinses to get all the vinegar out. Some people say to also run a batch of ice through the unit to really clean it too.

    When off is power button supposed to flash green? Also do you unplug when not making ice or just press off?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  6 місяців тому +1

      Mine flashes green when the power is off too. I usually make a bunch of ice and then unplug mine. But if you just want to make fresh ice everyday it would make more sense to leave it plugged in.

    Can you just dump the remaining water in the sink of do you HAVE to use the drain plug?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  2 місяці тому

      Yeah you could just dump the water.

      Use the drain plug. You can’t use it for two hours if it gets tipped over.

    Is it normal for there to be some water left in the bottom after it makes ice fully? Mine works well but it said “add water” and when I went to take off the tray there was still water in there?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  4 місяці тому

      I think there needs to be a certain amount of water left in there for it to make ice. So yeah the add water light can still come on with a little bit of water in the bottom.

      I noticed on mine that the "add water" indicator lit up before it dumped the excess water from the tray back into the reservoir under the basket. I'm guessing it's normal .

      @@TammyRoehm Try pushing the power button twice. That's what gets mine going again.

    I didn't get the hook for the scoop or the ice bag!

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Місяць тому +1

      I think there are a few different versions of this ice maker. If it has an opening on the front of the lid that will fit over the scoop hook holder than you can put a hook on it. If that's the case try to contact COWSAR and see if they will send you a scoop hook.

      @@ThatHobby TY for reply. This is what I determined when I looked at the door/ lid. I purchased HZB-12/H from Amazon. I just got it up and running this morning. Seems that two of the pins might be defective, they don't make full sized bullet cubs like the other seven. Have you seen or heard of this issue? ❤️✌️

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Місяць тому +1

      @@thecomet9999 I remember it took a while for it to start making full sized ice cubes. But if you run it for the rest of the day and it's still not making full sized cubes then you may have gotten a defective one?
