Jordan Jackson Both of Turkish Airlines’ headquarter and their HUB Istanbul Airport are located on the European part of Istanbul which makes it an European Airline
i miss flying Turkish Airlines. They are really a great airline. Good food service too. Flown them DXB-IST-MNL and it was on time. thanks for sharing this video.
Turkish airlines is actually a great airline. i flew with them from London-Ankara-Male-Colombo just a month back on their b737 and a330. you get an amenity kit a filling snack in this...its so sad that skystrax did this to them...so sad...rlly rlly sad.
I've been to Turkey. I was reluctant the first time I visited the country for a holiday. I was amazed at how modern the country is, the people are friendly and the country itself is awesome.
Turkish has been one of the best airlines I have flown on in recent years. The IFE, meals, service was a step above the rest. This is why I don't trust Scamtrax anymore. Ataturk airport was a nightmare though, I'm hoping the new airport will be better.
Funfact: Mogadischu was the place where the Lufthansa 737 (Landshut) hijacking ended when the SEK stormed the aircraft. The aircraft called Landshut was still in service after years and then flew as last with a brazilian cargo airline. It then was standing on an airfield abandoned for years... But then, the german goverment buyed the 737 to have it on display in a museum. To show that Germany helps to defeat terrorists. And is a country which helps others.
Actually, the plane's last owner, TAF (Transportes Aéreos Fortaleza), was a very troubled airline in the few years when it existed, and it brought the plane first for passenger service. Then TAF thought it would lose less money if it carried parcels for the Brazilian postal service, and its planes were converted to cargo. So, it was not exactly a "cargo airline", or at least not all the time - it wasn't one in the beginning. I don't know how the German government defeated the Brazilian courts and red tape, because when an airline goes bankrupt in Brazil, judicial proceedings take many years while all creditors, employees and such sue for the remaining assets in the extremely slow Brazilian courts. In the meantime, whatever assets (including planes) are impounded, nobody can touch them, and they can't be sold or maintained, leading them to finally (sometimes after 10 years or more) be sold as scrap, as lack of maintenance renders the planes useless otherwise. I do know, however, that the German mechanics had a hard time and worked for months to make the plane airworthy again. A final remark: the plane was not exactly on an "airfield" either: it was at Fortaleza-Pinto Martins International Airport, a full modern international airport serving a metropolitan area of 4 million people and with flights to Europe on KLM, Air France, TAP and Condor, and soon also on Air Europa.
Thanks for showing us the world is changing once upon time we are great but we make it again and we can't forget every country who helped our government or our people
Great report as always Felix! You really do a wonderful job with recording and editing these, the quality never ceases to amaze me. Keep up the great work!
Haven't heard any rave reviews about the new Ankara airport. Fog related delays, lots of walking between terminals and concourses, very few power outlets, and wait times for boarding. Guess it would improve some degree when more airlines come in. But no reason to shut down Ataturk. Both airports can survive.
Great take off vision and sound !!! Turkish keep us waiting here in Australia for direct flights to Istanbul...one day I hope this will indeed happen !! Solid review of what is an excellent airlines and I agree with some of the other comments as to Skytrax downgrading this airline which always seems (to me ) to get excellent reviews !! Well done !!
Hello felix awesome video as always. I was wondering what is your job because you travel to so many different places in such short time. I will love to have a traveling life, airplanes are my passion 💓
Same here, I want to know what he does for living by going to all these 'exotic' places lol My best guess is he is working for UN agency based in Vienna 🤔
You should try longer ones, like the ones to DAR, ZNZ - also TK.. or Copa/Gol ones. THey all have flights on 737 going over 8h. THe best one is Philippine airlines MNL-SYD/MEL/BNE on the A321 (in biz they have lie flats)!
@@simply_aviation what's the difference when compared to the new 30" a350 released by AF or compared to the b757 medium haul ones? This is the direction for the moment and even worse in the upcoming years (max, a321 lr, xlr, b797 etc). They're far more fuel efficient and it makes sense from a business perspective. In 20-30 years we're most likely going to have the twin-aisles only on (currently considered) ULR flights! :) Thanks for the video!

Felix, how are you not afraid of going to such places. Somalia is in the middle of war, that’s all over the country. Do you even leave the airport?
It’s clearly not „all over the country“ as I didn’t experienced any security issues while on ground in MGQ Airport
