Got my chance to ride a 717 last month finally, short hop from Detroit to Chicago. Loved every minute, though. The whine as it throttles up for takeoff is like music to the ears. Definitely not something you get with a 737 or A320

Right on! I couldn't agree more. Its has so much character and you can beat sitting right next to the engines as they spool up for takeoff!
