The hint that Oda gave in this chapter is that Oden Kozuki never actually started the troubles he got into. He just always gets involved in other people's problems, thats all. Yet the shogun is always giving him the blame. Why? Its simple. And this chapter more or less confirmed it. You see, Oden Kozuki gets caught into other people's problems, but also somehow manages to solve them, giving him the spotlight of the incident, and therefore the blame of the incident at the same time. When people want to speak the truth about the incident, Oden prevents that. Just like what happened with Kinemon here. Oden is like: ''Its fine dont worry about''. So ultimately people will always have that feeling that he started all those incidents and troubles while in reality, its the people around him who did. So he gets hated for actually covering up for all the incidents other people were doing. And then he also gets worshipped because he covers up for all the people who started the incidents at the same time. This is actually really nice writing Oda did here in this chapter. Because there is NO way in hell all the incidents the Shogun mentioned, were all Odens doing. It was the other people's doing, but Oden always took the full blame and responsibility of those incidents, making him actually a really holy grail character in the story of Wano. He simply does not care about his status or anything, he just laughs it all off. He is just simply satisfied with helping the people around him. The incident in wich we saw in this chapter and how it unfolded and finished gave me the reason to say all this. Kinemon started the incident>Oden finished the incident>people were suspecting Oden for starting the incident>Kinemon wanted to lay the truth of the incident>Oden didnt want that>so people will always suspect him for being the starter of the incident>Kinemon worships Oden.
Hope I explained my thoughts on this well enough. This is actually a really subtle hint Oda gave in the chapter and wonder how many people caught on on it.

@@adriansam1991 No. Luffy is creating problems, and he doesnt solve them when it comes to World Government stuff. Some stuff he starts the problems but some he never solves. Oden is more on a minor scale, while Luffy is causing trouble on a bigger scale.

2) Oda kinda already played this card in dressrosa. Since the average citizen in the one piece verse has a very low IQ, they don't question anything. It's the same thing with King Riku. Dude can treat you right for decades but one person tells you nah fam. And then the dressrosa kingdom hates Riku. Same thing over here. No one wants to get the full story. They just follow the gossip.

The timeline is correct, it is plausible that Edward Newgate formed his crew after the incident, and Oden went along.

I got this from tekking: koshiro is denjiro's twin brother, kuina is koshiro's daughter and Tashigi is denjiro's daughter. And that's why they look alike.

Oden definitely wasn't at God Valley. Oden was present for Roger's last voyage. And that certainly wasn't 38 years ago. God Valley happened a long time before the last journey. Besides, Oden also has to sail with Whitebeard long enough to become a trusted captain before he joins Roger.
God Valley is 38 year ago, that's already written in one piece chapter. So Oden can still be there after he become a daimyo
Your comment at 9:14 added to your speculation from 5:21 - 6:02 leads me to the conclusion that a couple of Oden's scabbards may have already been chosen they just don't know it yet. He became a bad ass before he left. We saw the people internally praising him. So when he pulls up to be somebody who owes him I could see them following along.

More thanks likely not, one piece never goes without showing Luffy for long periods of time. Even the reverie was cut to like 7 chapters when it could have easily been 20+. The only way I see this act taking up a lot of chapters If they go back and forth between the present and odens past

Oden was a former commander division of Whitebeard pirates then Oden wasn't in God valley incident because back then Whitebeard wasn't form his own pirate crew yet while he is under the Rocks pirates. ...I think he only joined first the Whitebeard pirates after the Rocks pirates are disbanded so he is not present in God valley incident

Maybe Oden was the 2nd division commander before Ace was. Because when some of the Whitebeard pirates were talking about how Ace should lead the 2nd division in the flashback, they said that the position had been vacant for awhile. That would be interesting. And I'm not surprised that Orochi was originally a servant. Evil tyrants usually start out as lowly servants craving for power, it's seen in stories all the time.
I also thought the chapter was okay. You brought up an interesting point Sawyer regarding Oden's feat. They are properly hype up by Oden himself just for him to seem both cool and intimidating. His feat about killing the bear by picking up and throwing a boulder is probably half truth. He probably move the boulder with a clever maneuver instead of picking it up his own strength as a todder.
Sawyer I think you're over thinking the 39 to 41 year correction in terms of it's relation to the god valley incident etc.
Pretty sure any error of 2 years could just be Oda forgotting/getting confused about timeskip dates.
Any 2 year adjustments I would put down to Oda forgetting/losing track of dates because of the 2 year time skip rather than specific events etc

I've watched your videos from time to time for years and I don't know if someone addressed this to you already but I think it would be best if you use a single mic through out your video. IMO use the one that you are using when you speak in front of the video just so it flows well, just crank up the volume. The mic you use when you are showing the images are better tho.
My theory is that, Oden fought Kaido in God’s Valley, giving him the scars on his chest. Kaido then wanted to get revenge with Oden’s homeland. Just a thought.

timeline wouldnt make sense for oden to be at god valley. also, denjiro is all but confirmed to be witching hour boy. there are some obvious hints. Him being koushiro or scopper makes absolutely no sense and does not impact the arc in anyway. denjiro is important to wano. he will be witching hour boy due to the sack, the gold, and both being thieves.

Oden probably wounded Kaido during the god valley incident. Couple of chapters ago, Sengoku mentioned that during his days in the Rox Pirate Crew Kaido wasn't as formidable as he is now or as he was when he took over Wano, when he ultimately killed Oden.

Sorry but it went from 39 to 41 cuz Oda goofed and forgot to include his 2 year timeskip in his calculations.
New theory:
-Poseidon controls SEA kings (Poisedon, green mythology king of the seas)
-Uranus controls SKY kings
-Pluton controls LAND kings
Best Theory: the 3 weapons are parallels to the 3 types of haki
Poseidon ( kings haki ) controls Sea kings
Pluton ( armement Haki ) is said to be a weapon of mass destruction Pure power same as armement haki
Uranus ( observation haki ) it can see the future in a way were it predicts the important threats to the one that uses it
it is currently owned by IM and he used it on Chapter ( 906 or 907 ) and he sees the Straw hat because luffy at that point was becoming a real threat,
We also see there are like 7-8 windows that are similar to where IM saw the giant Strawhat
the weapon also showed him different stuff probably related to
blackbeard , Vivi , Shirahoushi , thats why IM had their pictures, and they also represent a threat because
they either own a weapon or are rising to become strong enough to counter the WG
the old windows probably showed stuff from Dragon , Roger , maybe Rocks ... anyone that represents a real threat to the WG
I really don't understand why you would think that koushiro is denjiro. There are so many things in the timeline that don't fit. Even in episode zero that is considered cannon, koushiro was at east blue during the time that he should be in wano and many more other things that i am actually too bored to write :P
I believe they said oden was on white beards crew before Roger's crew. So it wouldn't make sense for oden to be under white beard then go to Roger's and fight white beard, big mom, and kaido when they were in rocks crew
Don't think Oden is involved in the Gold Valley incident. We learned that he was first in Whitebeard's ship as a commander before going to Roger's, and by now Whitebeard is still on Rocks' crew, so he doesn't have one of his own. He only creates one after his captain is killed, meaning he recruited Oden some time after the God Valley incident. And it's not mentioned that Oden was on Rocks' ship either, so no reason for him to be there.
Oden couldn't have been on God Valley during the incident because it was said he travelled with Whitebeard before joining Roger's crew, and if we're assuming Whitebeard was at God Valley as a member of the Rocks Pirates, then he wouldn't have his crew yet.
The only way I see him being there is if that's the way he meets Whitebeard and Roger, but why would he be there...? Well, guess we'll find out.

Sawyer where exactly did you get that denjiro is 10 years old in the current flashback? his age wasn't stated.
He cannot be zoro's master, because zoro wand kuina were about the same age, which would be about 21-22 years now.
It was stated that kaido's attack happened exactly 20 years ago, if denjiro was zoro's master and kuina's father, he would have had to leave wano right before the attack, go to the east blue, have kuina there, and then return back to wano to fight kaido with the other scarrabs, and then return back to the east blue.

Well since Oden helped Roger kill Xebec then Kaido wanted revenge, he gave Orochi his devil fruit to get his loyalty to betray Oden and kill him. That plus he promised him he would be Shogun, or it can be the other way around, Orochi contacted Kaido and made a deal with him.
But Oden couldnt be in God valley anyways cause its said many times that he was in Roger's crew ONLY for the last adventure, 24 years ago.
Also, its said that he was first a Shirohige commander and at that time Shirohige didnt had a crew of his own.
So I dont think Oden will be in God's valley but I hope we see him in shirohiges crew and Roger's as well
It was stated that Oden was part of Whitebeards crew. If he were at God's Valley he would have to have originally been in Rocks and based on his honorable nature I do not believe he was. Going back to the "he was in Whitebeards crew" point, for Whitebeard to have started a crew immediately after God's Valley he would have had to either pull an underhanded thing like Blackbeard and already had them waiting in hiding or he would have had to choose people from Rocks... Both do not sound plausible to me.
I do not think Oden was in God's Valley because he would have most likely fought to protect the slaves at least and I do not see him following someone like Rocks.

I think Oden could not be in the God's Valley incident. As we know he was a former Whitebeard commander before entering Roger's crew. When GV happened Whitebeard was still with Xebec. He probably left Wano after God's Valley, when Whitebeard started to form his crew.
The time line probably goes like this:
1- Oden Becomes Daimio and the leader of the Red scabbards.
2- God Valley Happens and Whitebeard leaves the Crew after Xebecs Death.
3- Oden Leaves Wano and joins the recent formed WB Crew.
4- Roger takes Oden from WB with Davy Back Fight games, because of his skill concerning the Poneglyphs.
5- Oden goes to Raftel with Roger and learn the truth about the void century and the involvement of Kozuki Clan in the "resistance", that's why Wano is isolated and why they made the Poneglyphs.
6- Oden returns to Wano to claim his place as the Shogun and to open it's border's, just to discover that Kaido had appeared and took control of the land with the help of the traitor Orochi.
Yeah i am not sure God Valley is why they changed the time. but i guess who knows. i doubt we'll get a flashback of god valley right now

Well, would Oden really have been in God’s Valley? Because yes he would have 3 yrs to be daimyo etc. but I thought oden was with Whitebeard’s crew first, then Rogers, but during Gods Valley, Whitebeard still hadn’t formed his crew. He was part of the Rocks pirates. So he couldn’t be there with Whitebeard bc he had not formed his own crew. Therefore also couldn’t be in Rogers crew either. Idk maybe I have some misinformation or something.
I'm thoughourly convinced that relationships are going to happen and be important.
All I'm saying is... sanji is already married into the big mom family technically. If lucky roo also is married from someone from big moms crew as well without their knowing, they're kind of all allies. Shanks wont be under big mom, and he won't let big mom force luffy into an alliance. So by technicality and even if they don't want to, they will effectively be 3/4 of the new yonkos and allies. What if they swap a person each a person around to train and gain trust

After this chapter im thinking more and more that Oden might be Zoros dad. There are too many coincidences such as the Oden incident happening 20 years ago and zoro being 21. Oden has a similar style as Zoro and Denjiro looks a lot like zoros sensei. Plus Oden and Zoro act very similar and zoro has always been an errecularly strong human. Him sanji and luffy never seemed normal and for luffy and sanji their past is partially why and i think the same is for zoro.
I Think that either Zoro was just recent born in secret before Odens death or that He was a child of a mistress of Oden since he had a player reputation. IT could be that Zoros master was Denjiro and saved zoro during the incident and fled with him to the island they lived on and changed his name and later taught zoro his fathers fighting style.
Nearly everyone in the straw hats have had their parents told or implied with many having famous ones or backstories; (luffy=Dragon, Sanji=Judge/germa66, Usopp= Shanks crew member, Robin=Last of her famous bloodline). So i wouldnt be surprised if Oda would give Zoro that type of back story too.

I don't understand one thing. If Oden takes part in the God valley war and defeats rocks pirates under whom Whitebeard also sailed, How can Oden follow Whitebeard later on as a divison commander?
Also lets' say Roger and Garp took on Rocks, Rayleigh vs Whitebeard will be a viable option. But Whitebeard is said to be as powerful as Roger. Seriously, it doesn't make sense to me.
I think oden getting the notoriety for the boar incident in that way is another parallel of him and luffy's. Just like on wci luffy got the notoriety for the big mom assassination plot and blowing up the chateau even though it was pure coincidence lol.
Oden and Zorro have a lot in common.. both were trouble makers as 6/8 year old's , both trained with boulders as kids , both were captured and set for death , both were samurai but became pirates after meeting luffy/rodger, Zorro was called a boar when he tried using 2sword style ax a child, oden killed a boar using 2 sword style , oden cut a new river path with the same sword Zorro cut a cliff in half with , Zorro killed a legendary creature dragon & oden killed the mountain god , both got on pirates ships as teenager's who's captains had d in their names , both Zorro & oden love Saki , they have to be connected imo
Oden is exactly like Luffy with a different fighting style.
1)Oden is obsessed with freedom like Luffy. This is the reason he and Luffy became Pirates.
2)Oden has Conquerors Haki like Luffy
3)Oden has Voice of All Things like Luffy
4) Oden has Charisma to attract allies like Luffy
5)Oden was age 19 when he took over Udon amd defeated Shutenmaru like, Luffy is age 19 right now taking out the Yonko.
6)Oden became Damaiyo at age 20, like Luffy will become Pirate King at age 20.
7) Oden has 9 Scabbards like Luffy has 9 Strawhats.
Kozuki clan is 100% a secret D like Trafalgar Law's family.
Oden more similar to Luffy than even Roger. The only difference between Luffy and Oden us fighting style.
Roger also had a different fighting style. Roger used Swords to fight.

I don't really follow your logic about the God's Valley stuff. I thought Whitebeard was the first one to take Oden to sea. That would've been after God's Valley, when Whitebeard was a captain.

Mega Chungus Zoro/Kinemon both were thugs who got themself and a girl in trouble and after a powerful person inspires them they change and follow Oden/Luffy. Just me speculating
@@adamquenano8563 Zoro did not thought luffy was that strong at that time. He was just tricked by luffy to join him. And zoro was not a thug. Kinemon was thug by heart at that time but zoro was just forced to do it for money while searching for mihawk.

I mean,White Beard doesnt even had a crew at that time,so i dont think oden was there,how the hell would he be a comandant of WB and then fleed with Roger? It was after god valley i think, a few years later at least
If he killed the giant boar, he caused the incident. I'm pretty sure that's how it checks out.
As for his involvement at God's Valley, that's actually absolutely not sure. We know he left Wano to get into Whitebeard's ship, but Whitebeard didn't *have* a ship at the time of the god valley incident.
And we know he spent time with Gol D Roger between 28 and 25 years ago.
