My new single 'Shuyet' with my new alias Łu:nera is OUT NOW on Suah Records/Mia Mendi. Let me know if you would like a ‘Track Breakdown’ video... bit.ly/3u82vTO
you all probably dont care but does anyone know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
this has to be one of my fav tutorials ever, been struggling to figure out how to get drums sounding like this, and I have been afraid to try and use so many different layers. Thank you!
Subscribed one minute into the video, this is probably one of the most helpful videos I've watched on processing drums in general. Straight forward and easy to follow, the track sounds serious man keep it up.
Listening to your track Pill Gates original mix it's pretty much all drums but doesn't sound like its missing anything. Thanks for dropping your knowledge on how to achieve a really full drum sound.
This is great man! Been searching for something like this for a good while now! Would love to see your entire process if you're willing to share! Subscribed and waiting for more songs my man!
best tech house drum tutorial i ve seen on ytbe so far !! i follow you since 1 year you got my full support on ytbe aswell keep doing the good work !!!
Great video, just checked out your stuff on soundcloud, Savage. Just started learning how to produce but struggling with the bassline, on your tracks the bassline is serious, exactly the sound I'm after. Could you do a video on how you make your baselines.
Nice one, never realised it was possible to have so many drums yet keep a clean mix. I've always worked so stripped back for fear of a muddy mix but taken a lot away from this. Cheers!
Sup Mistrix, really enjoyed the tut and I am also a big fan of your music. Thanks! I had one question that has been causing a lot of headaches lately. The issue is about mixing kick and clap together. Let's say I mix my kick in at -8dB and the clap would sit at -10dB. The summed signal is usually much higher than -8dB, typically 3-4dBs higher. This is obviously less than ideal because those peaks will get squashed a lot in the final mix and the drums will sound pretty rubbish. I tried many things but nothing seems to work seamlessly. I tried shifting clap few ms before or after the kick, choosing different samples that would gel together better, sidechaining the clap to the kick (this method kind of works as it reduces the peaks the most, but it usually sounds unnatural and kills the groove), compressing and saturating the hell out of drums (and parallel compression) etc. I am honestly lost at this point. I noticed in your track and in many other producers' tracks the kick and clap do not cause big spikes in volume when they play together, yet they both sound loud and do not seem to be overcompressed. What's the secret here?
Hey mate, thanks for the kind words I'm glad you're enjoying my music! Usually, I use about 3 different samples for my kick and my clap. So I use a Sub Kick, Mid Kick and Top Kick. All different samples but in the same key and layer them together. I then group them and process them again within the group. When doing the claps I usually pick a Center Clap, Left Clap & Right Clap. I make sure they all peak at the same level (usually -18dB on each channel) and again I group them and process them as one. Most of the time I add some saturation, some EQ to clean them up a bit and take out some harsh frequencies and then add some slight glue compression. Then once I have most of my drums in and all this is done, I then group all my drums together and usually add some slight saturation again, some Mid/Side EQ, do some Parallel Compression and any other bits after that. It's hard to explain here but I'm planning on uploading more videos soon and I can explain more in detail and show exactly what I do there!
This video was very helpfull to understand how to place the drums in a track. My question is why to put some drums more to the left stereo than to the right stereo field? How do you tune the tone of drums to fit the track key? Cheers Daniel
Dan Silver the reason I pan them if to fill out the stereo field instead of having all the drums hit in the centre. To find the key of each sample you can either use tuner or use an EQ Eight, make a boost with a high Q value and go through the sample to see where it hits most. When you open up the big screen on EQ Eight you can see what note is assigned to what frequency.
ROCKET RALPH for sure! Feel free to use my music on it once you let me know what ones and what for. Can you drop your email so I can send you it? I tried the one on your channel earlier but it wouldn’t let me send it.
"Noice and Tihk" Miss that accent. Had a house mate in Uni called Mikey and he had the exact same accent but I didn't know tech house was alive over there. Sound sick brudda. Big up from Wales
Hey man just wondering if you remember the name of the sample pack you used? Particularly the drums. I see the name of the kikc file is "DTH" maybe "Deep Tech Houses"? Thanks man great tut!
@@jimi_latifi thanks a lot man really appreciate you checking and getting back to me. Really great tut, it’s hard to find that Marco Carola, Loco dice thick drum sound. Great stuff 👍
Not usually if it's done right. If you're afraid of phasing issues you can always put a utility plugin on the bus and set it to mono to see if it is phasing.
I usually have a send track with 100% wet reverb for my Drums and I send what drums I want to that. So my claps, hats, certain percs, you don’t have to send everything just whatever sounds best to you. I also do this for my synths and vocals and have a send for each that I then EQ amd mix into the track.
@@jimi_latifi OMG Thank you so much for replying. and how many types of reverb do you use for each instrument, like hall for synth, plate for drums, etc? or just one for all lol
@@tachy9093 depends what I’m after really. Usually make a Hall reverb for my Vocals and Synths, sometimes I use a Room or Plate for Drums. It all depends on what you want in your track really.
When you send demos in to record labels are you always keeping them at -6db? And do you do any mastering yourself? I have so many questions for you bro this track is a fkn banger!!
Mostly I'll be asked by labels for something and if not sometimes I send the -6dB PreMaster if I know them well. If not I will get it mastered by an engineer so the label will hear the finished product. Glad your feeling the track! Should be out on Del Sol on August 17th!
