I’m looking forward to the next chapter in Radio Garage content! Sign me up! Keep doing what you’re doing Matt, it’s so easy for people these days to spout off about nothing, and with no repercussions. it’s a shame you have to deal with that. Don’t let them get to you, it’s their shortcomings in life that leave them wasting time being negative on public social media accounts. I can speak to the fact that EVERY one of the radios you’ve worked on for me work and sound excellent, and get regular compliments out on the road. You’re keeping my old radios going strong, Thanks for the videos and I look forward to them every time a new one comes out👌🏻
You know a couple people said the same thing about the driver extreme mic after hearing it through the monitor radio. I think I'm going to try and do a video with a couple different mics and have someone record out in their mobile or something like that.
Sign me up!!! I love the videos and would like to see more. How to’s maybe some Q&A. It’s a shame how people have to ruin things and force you to go a different route. I’ll be looking for the new stuff. I wouldn’t dare open a radio right now and try anything but I’m interested and would love to learn.
Jeremy Burk here, I’m on my wife’s premium UA-cam account. I for sure want to learn the basics of soldering and troubleshooting on electronics. I’ll worry about doing the mods later. This actually runs in my family, my dad was an electrician and then later electrical designer. My mom was electrical assembler and she also helped build most of the exercise equipment that’s up in space right now. My stepdad was first a radio builder for NASA and then a supervisor. I am a truck driver, but not for too much longer. It took a little while but radios are starting to get into my blood right now and it seems it’s all I want to do. I wound up buying a General HP 40w recently, it’s still in the box. I might just send it to you to get it tuned up properly here fairly soon.
Get you a breadboard and just start practicing soldier and also how to use a suction desoldier and be sure to learn and practice. Also buy and old non working CB without all the surface mount components take stuff apart and then redo it. Take photo before and after. And don't practice for too long of time. In school we practiced at first no more the 20 minutes a day, at first. Its important not to over do it at first, stresses newbies out too much then you just perform worse. Take it easy at first. Be careful of the fumes too. Use a small fan to blow across your job so the soldier fumes aren't drifting up into your face and causing you to breathe it in.
Cool radio. Learning about these different units. I’m not good enough to do my own work but still enjoy watching you & gaining some knowledge. Always been interested in electronics. Thanks for the video.

I have one of these, and I think something is wrong with it. Has been exactly 30 days since I installed in my semi, and I must say what a hassle that was to run extra coax and those 4 gauge welding cables from batteries all the up to overhead cb compartment, but I've done it. Anyways, everything was good,SWR low to 1.1 on power down amp off,and about 1.6 on full power with amp ON,so was good for a month, and all the sudden started to sound weird, like distorted voice, and was super clean( I used AMP maybe only once since I have this radio). I checked SWR and I couldn't get needle to CAL with radio settings like they supposed to be,when I turned power maybe to 11 o'clock then needle goes to CAL. I thought my SWR meter broke, but I hooked up my old Galaxy and checked SWR,and it's like almost perfect 1.1. So something gotta be wrong with the radio, any suggestions?? Since this radio is pretty much brand new should I send it to place I bought it from? Is warranty on CBs actually worth a hassle to sending to original place of purchase??

Really enjoy the videos, they are very helpful to me. I'm just getting into the tuning part of cb radios. I have a uniden 980, it has the built in swr meter. Is it better to use the built in meter or use a real swr meter? When i tune it with a swr meter it says i have good signal on 1 and 40 i got 1 to 1 . When i look at the built in swr i am getting a 1.7 on cb1 and a 1.1 on 40?
I always say an external swr meter is going to be more accurate. Normally though there isn't that big of a difference between the internal and external meters. What make model swr meter are you using?

Do you get anymore power out of this radio with the built proof job
@@TheRadioGarage it is just a little workman that just does the swr. I'm looking into getting a dosy tc 3001-p nothing to big just to fit my skill set at this time. What you think?

Will nice to get shot of the old radio circuits and instead use maths instead to do the signal processing as it is just a matter of time before it happens.
Is it pretty clean on SSB?
Sure is
At least it isnt a galaxy! lol
You gotta tell me what radios you like!! Thanks for the comments
