Yeah for the knowledgeable user who got it all correct. You do have a very clever van. And yeah for a nifty spot for the kettle since you do love your tea. Have fun running around in your newly outfitted van.
Famous visitors? I never heard of 'em. Glad your electrical installation got the "nod" from the pros - there's lots of people on youtube that think they know better. I do wonder why you didn't have the electrical at the back of the van but can't remember what all you have back there (other than the fuel locker). Enjoyed the video!
Followed the Wynns for years, they seem like a great couple. I love it when my UA-cam stars get together. I hope they get you down to thier new HH Catamaran when they get it - its only fair.
I was introduced to The Wynns when you talked about them on your other channel years ago and got hooked when they were stuck on Fiji. Both channels helped me get through the depths of the pandemic. 😊
I am SO looking forward to the Wynn-video 😁 Meanwhile it is nicely entertaining to watch you heating water with your new electric setup and store your kettle in the right space! Congrats on doing things right! And the chunky earth is probably really just for even more safety (which you should always have an abundance of).
I never doubted that your wiring would be anything less than top notch David. Did you know that there are 'Ready Meals' available based on ex military needs. Some of them are really good, (compared to what I got many years ago). They are easily heated up, and great if you are stuck for something nourishing.
Exactly my first thought too! 😂 But I wonder if it's that thick to make it the last thing to fail when things really go wrong, perhaps even _during_ a lightning strike? 🙃
Thank you David for taking me along. Perhaps this will silence the nay sayers and self appointed “experts “ . But I’m not betting on it. Anyway , Cheers From California 😊
G'day David. I love the road journey at the beginning of the Vlog. The English countryside is so different to here in Australia. Beautiful English country.
Great to see your electrics are fine, I had no doubts in your skills. Wow, I used to watch the Wynns years ago when they were in their first RV. I recall they got a bigger RV and then a catamaran. I think I lost touch with their channel but may have another look now I’ve remembered them. I’m looking forward to seeing them on your NB channel.
The verdict from the Blue Fix guys is testament to the quality of your work. As you said the extension lead for using your kettle isn't pretty. I would recommend replacing it with one that has individual switches for each outlet. I have one such extension that I run out to the caravan awning and it is handy to avoid tripping out the caravan breaker.
Congratulations on the clean electrical bill of health. You deserve to feel gratified at having the experts give the seal of approval to your work. (I suppose it also says something about the naysayers who criticized it--but let us be charitable.) I am very nervous about doing electrical work myself. I just removed a fluorescent light fixture to rewire and replace it with LEDs (very simple job really), and as always I was anxiously looking for smoke signals when I turned it on the first time. Loved the tea "slup" at 4:08...I always slurp hot beverages. In America, slurping in public is considered a bit uncouth; is it the same in Britain? Perhaps you were just doing it for video effect?
I am pleased your inspection was a pass, I had no worries, but I am a DIY just like you with loads of research. I am glad you are finally hanging with the Wynn's. You recommended their channel a year and a half-ish ago I believe during your Christmas on the boat and I have been watching them since, so thank you! Looking forward to the CC video. Cheers!
What a nice, videomaking way of providing a conclusion at the end, saying: "Every sceptic viewers can go and f...eel invited for a cup of electricity-boiled-made tea" To cut the fooling around: Well done David, both for the video, and for your neat job in the van.😊
I never doubted your electrical abilities for a second David , after all , your narrowboat didn't explode or electrocute anybody did it ? It's amazing the number of armchair experts that inhabit the internet , hopefully the trolls have crawled back under their respective bridges and will stay there in future , happy travels , tally ho etc
Well done with all your electrics. Lovely varied video. You travelled around. Great to hear all you were doing. Very interesting. Thank you. Look forward to your next one.
Looking forward to seeing the canal footage with the Wynns. I am glad you got your wiring checked out, and it should be gratifying that you got a thumbs up from the pros. A little peace of mind goes a long way. I know what you mean by the price of maple syrup, eegads! But I do like waffles and have a nice little waffle maker that's great for one person. Take care, and looking forward to your next adventure!
Well done, David! I have been trying to figure out what wire I need to use to wire the electrical in my bus. I haven’t figured it out, yet, so I don’t and didn’t have an opinion about the thickness of your wire. I don’t think that I even know how to ask the question as all I have gotten in response to “what wire should I use to run all of the wiring to multiple outlets and lights BEHIND the wall?” is a half dozen hrrmm’s and a couple of hah’s. But no real answers. Everything else that you did was well justified by you and I thought it was fine. I am still no closer to discovering what wire would be best so I am in no position to say “you! Come over here and fix this before you blow up a city block. I plan to go easy with a 3500W box and will run everything to that box. I found what I think is a very good box but they only guarantee the functionality of their solar panels and they are expensive but run on 10 year old technology. So I STILL haven’t climbed off the fence. Hopefully soon and I am excited to see that you have successfully reached my goal. You win!
Maple syrup from Aldi is cheaper than other supermarkets and it’s the proper stuff. I personally prefer good old Golden syrup, but only Tate & Lyle will do. No other Golden syrup I’ve tried so far comes close.
Great stuff, David. Well done on the electrical install, no ominous glowing or smoke from the van with everything in operation, so that's a pass! Smoke is so hard to get back in once you let it out... 🙂
Great to see you on our screens again David. You perhaps might consider a small 12v television called Cello English made only bought online. For motorhomes and caravans Avtex televisions are used but they are stupid money. Electrics on boats yep serious issue since it's rare to come across anybody who knows what they are talking about. Good idea for peace of mind to get your DIY checked out. Hope you make Crick Safe travels
The astonishing amount of concern-trolling by people behind their keyboards is really getting on my nerves. You're a much more patient man than me David going to great lengths trying to explain everything is fine. Do these people really think they're helpful?
Not sure I've heard of maple flavored syrup. Not surprised it exists but am wondering if pancakes absorb impossibly large amounts like they do with real syrup😂 Enjoyed the road trip. Glad your solar install passed inspection👍👍
Just catching up here. for what it is worth you have done a pretty fine job on the electrical system. I have rewired airplanes, boats, and the house(s) I own and am an electrical engineer ham radio guy. I would do more grounding ie bigger wire and ground more often but the rest of it is first rate. fly safe
Luke is a top man with electrical installs. At present i have gas for cooking and heating but looked at induction hobs. During the winter with my 12v fridge running and using electric instead of gas there is no chance id cope without a B2B. I have 640w of panels and a 200ah lithium battery and need the B2B. After the outlay of buying it, then its free power and you wont have to restrict your tea intake 😉👍
We both watch each other’s channels and have communicated a bit over the years so when they said they wanted to try narrowboating, I sorted them out with a hire boat.
I hope that all the nay-sayers keep their silence over the electrics from now on... 😂 Well done, David, all works, all is safe, what could you ask more for? 👍👍👍
At 3:34 when you open the second drawer, I notice you have a single slice toast maker (fold flat, not much room taken up). I have one of these but I didn't realise they worked on induction hobs? Or was it overlooked when you removed the gas? Or (shock horror!, but good sense) Do you carry an "emergency" gas stove stashed away?
Nice work on your electrical mods. I’d sure like to find the American version of the Blue Fix guys. Looking forward to seeing your Cruising The Cut episode with Jason & Nikki. Happy Camping!
Hi just thinking about starting a camper conversation and remember back in one of your early videos and with a bit of lazyness on my part i remember you saying about an insurance company that covered you during your conversation i would be greatful if you could let me know the name keep up the good work
I would be interested in your thoughts on leaving your van with the battery fully charged. I looked into fitting lithium to our narrowboat but as we are leisure boaters the battery would be fully charged when we took it back to the marina. It would then be left with a fully charged battery. We were told that lithium batteries do not like being stored fully charged and should be discharged to around 60% for storage. For this reason I eventually decided not to go to lithium.
I have wondered about that but I suppose time will tell. I could always leave the fridge on or suchlike so as to draw down some power and give the batteries some exercise!
From what I have read LFP batteries are at least less sensitive to being charged to 100% than the normal Li-batteries used in EVs. Tesla recommends that their cars with LFP batteries be charged to 100% at least once a week. Might have more to do with making the guess-o-meter more accurate though. Time will tell though, it'll be a while before you get through 4000 cycles even if you did one cycle a day.
Well, [shrug] OK, so you had your electrics checked. Fine. But, then....then, let's see....there's the off-gassing of all the plastics trapped inside your van. And....and....then there's that artificial maple syrup! Yes! Now, then...there must be something else to criticize you about....🤔 😂
I never doubted you got it right, David, but inspection by professionals is always good.
How to very politely put two fingers up to all the arm chair critics, whilst taking on board valid feedback.
Loved the cup of tea montage. All it was missing was the cheese sandwich on the side.
Must admit when you produced that incredibly thick cable at the end I had to blink a few times! That is one thick piece of wire.
We always appreciate every effort you make with cooking David, and a cup of tea is always essential. Cheers
Never has a "making a cuppa tea" sequence been filmed so beautifully before. Chin-chin.
As an electrical engineer (barely qualified to work on low-power digital electronics), I commend your use of "appropriately thick" wire. 👍
Yeah for the knowledgeable user who got it all correct. You do have a very clever van. And yeah for a nifty spot for the kettle since you do love your tea. Have fun running around in your newly outfitted van.
11:15 love these guys. Must be extra reassuring having people from middle earth giving you the ‘all ok’. I’d use them for sure!
Famous visitors? I never heard of 'em. Glad your electrical installation got the "nod" from the pros - there's lots of people on youtube that think they know better. You must be really pleased with yourself David. You've got a great little van now! Well done! 🙂 X
I was introduced to The Wynns when you talked about them on your other channel years ago and got hooked when they were stuck on Fiji. Both channels helped me get through the depths of the pandemic. 😊
It is NOT silly when little things work out perfectly:- ) it is serendipityyyyy :) xx
Nothing like watching a kettle boil 😂
As always, a very entertaining and enjoyable video. 👏👏👍😀
Haha I do my best to offer prime quality entertainment 🤣
@@Vandemonium You do indeed. It’s greatly appreciated. Keep it up 👍
Go to Vandemonium, where watched kettles boil
I am SO looking forward to the Wynn-video 😁

They are easily heated up, and great if you are stuck for something nourishing.
Sounds good!
Personally, having seen you work I had no worries at all, great job!
That was NOT what I envisioned when they recommended a larger ground wire 😂 I reckon you could divert a lightning strike with that cable!
Exactly my first thought too! 😂 But I wonder if it's that thick to make it the last thing to fail when things really go wrong, perhaps even _during_ a lightning strike? 🙃
Love the Wynns! I love how so many of my favorite UA-camrs know each other! 😊❤😊❤
Be careful, drinking too much tea might turn you into an Englishman. Oh, right, you are an Englishman. See, I told that would happen.
We are truly blessed, however, Australia, from what I’ve seen of it, is beautiful too, just in a different way.
good to note standards are being maintained with the use of a mug coaster.

It’s the little things! I can relate to your kettle storage grin.
It is a nice sign.

Yes, for the video 🤣
I really feel like having some tea now. Looking forward to the referenced Cruising The Cut video :).

I am subscribed to the Wynns and was pleasantly surprised to see them here! Nice collaboration!
Have you considered adding a beautiful (appropriate) closing music score on this channel too? Helps us with "closure" 😊. Thanks for sharing.
Haha perhaps I should!
the C the C end music is iconic
WHAT?!!! the WYNNS! worlds collided! They did mention you at a previous video..
Fantastic kettle. Without knowing too much about the electrics, I'll just say, Congrats on a clean bill of health for your set-up

Just what I needed to watch tonight...you making tea and heating pancakes in your van. Yes, I do have a very dull life! 🤣🤣🤣
So you forgot the pancake mix? Methinks you're a cereal offender!
Word of warning, when parked in the pub car parks don't flash your lights... :)
🤣🤣 Unless I fancy some action hehehehe 🤣🤣
A Wynns crossover in the works! My day is made.
It brings me so much joy to participate in your journeys. Thank you for sharing and taking your time.
Well done with all your electrics. Lovely varied video. You travelled around. Great to hear all you were doing. Very interesting. Thank you. Look forward to your next one.

I don't know if you did, but using a lid on a pan will save you a lot of energy - although perhaps not though for heating pancakes 🥞.

Ah but my van's just for weekends so I won't need one
What a crazy world UA-cam is. I only subscribe to a few dozen and yet here are two of them together!
Dig the Wynns!.... and you! Greetings from NYC!
Nice, last I saw they were driving camper vans around Italy, quite the transition from cat to narrowboat, how did you end up meeting the Wynn’s?
We both watch each other’s channels and have communicated a bit over the years so when they said they wanted to try narrowboating, I sorted them out with a hire boat.
I hope that all the nay-sayers keep their silence over the electrics from now on...

Tis the season to move into the van! Cheers
Take that, commenterati! :D
I made a correct guess about your guests for once :)
Eagerly waiting for the epic main channel video!

At 3:34 when you open the second drawer, I notice you have a single slice toast maker (fold flat, not much room taken up).
I have one of these but I didn't realise they worked on induction hobs?
Or was it overlooked when you removed the gas?

Won't work with induction, no, but kept for campfires and yes, the emergency portable gas canister stove
This week: David makes a cup of tea...
Nice vlog… thanks for the share 👍🏻✌🏻🇨🇦
good vid thanks lee
Interesting to see the power draw of the induction cook top. It is always a bother needing to know how much our power bank will put up with.
Always a bunch of naysayers on any job a UA-camr does. For a layman, you've done a bloody good job.
After all the trial and tribulations getting the van set up must have " wine" not tea in celebration of a job well done - Happy Motoring Jan Adelaide
Nice work on your electrical mods. I’d sure like to find the American version of the Blue Fix guys.
Looking forward to seeing your Cruising The Cut episode with Jason & Nikki.
Happy Camping!
Great stuff as usual!
Enjoyed this little vlog
I’m happy that the van’s electrics got a professional okay…
That should put to rest any paranoia regarding David’s very tidy installation.
You're like my old mother...would make cups of tea before going to bed then complain she couldnt sleep.
Yep, that's me
@@Vandemonium I have round caff tea bags and triangle decaff for zzzzzz :)
Great as always

No, just the solar. As it's a weekend / short break van, I shouldn't need alternator charging
@@Vandemonium and DC 2 DC chargers are surprisingly expensive too...
