  • Everyone in Poland is talking about this decision. National League, two top teams, first string plays: Viktor Byrtus vs Mazen Gamal.
13-12 in the 5th. Match ball Byrtus. Decision: NO LET.
(NO LET = the player in the yellow shirt had no interference in getting to the ball and it's only his fault that he didn't catch it)

It's a stroke. But Byrtus stands right beside his opponent and is making contact with him pretty much the second he hits the ball. So if you don't want to reward that sort of thing, a let is not out of the question. No let is just silly.

No let is right. The ball lands extremely short of both players; any movement to actually play the ball would be in the direction of the front corner and not into his opponent. I'm glad to see this behaviour being punished.

2nd bounce back of the service box is extremly short? Lol

You're blind and don't play squash, right.

Id say let even if the ball seemed kind of low cause even if he went around id imagine hed still ask for a let

I can understand why the ref called no let, it did seem that player 2 made no real effort to run around player 1 AND instead chose to push player 1 to make it seem he was obstructed. Player 1 did a good return down the wall and was stepping away as he should, definitely not a stroke.

right decision-let best case scenario, second bounce was like half a foot infront of him, jus fishin for that stroke

I agree, the apex of the bounce was over the front of the service box, well in front of both the players at the back of the service box. You gotta make a real attempt at getting to the ball

"You gotta make a real attempt " - He was a there, just opp was blocking the direct path! Should he push him to get the ball? Blocking a direct path to the ball is a stroke all day long.

@@TheMeehaw The low camera angle is kinda deceiving. Look where the ball bounces and where the players feet are in relation to the service box--the ball bounces in front of both the players. Despite this the player makes zero attempt to play the ball, he just immediately pushes into his opponent as soon as he sees the ball going down the wall.

tbh because Gamal does back into Byrtus, a let is probably the right call. But if the referee had previously warned Byrtus about fishing for strokes, that would justify a no let

@@bproshek Indeed, he reacted immediately after he saw where the ball was going. That is how squash works, you see where the ball goes, you commit the movement :)

Stroke and 6 Month ban for Byrtus. Asal would receive it...
