l did this exact thing years ago and it’s great for medium sized trees. but if you want to use a big shot, it’s hard to know how much to pull prematurely, you could have the perfect shot and then all the sudden it stops mid air on the way to that perfect shot, cause you didn’t pull out enough.🤦🏼♂️🤓
also, do you consider this a light and compact enough rig that you find yourself hauling it up into the canopy ever, for advances/traverses/taglines/etc?
I made one with a smaller standard size to carry up with me. No way I would use one from the ground tho. Way easier to just use a throw cube. But nice and compact for short throws in the canopy for a second tie in or rigging other branches

I have also had that problem. I’m currently using a milwaukie reel and it hasn’t broken yet and I’m better at gauging the shots.
And you are supposed to hold the big shot othe way round

Dewalt doesn't Pre load with chalk. We used a zing it throw line.

Super light, but a small zip bag is lighter
