Do you use a person in your area of Panama that provides the same kind of service as Virginia? If so, please comment with the city and name/contact information of the person. I'd love to have a list of trustworthy people around Panama that can handle writing the contracts, getting everything filed with social security, and deal with the monthly payments!
you are amazing person......that is a good recomendation to everybody who posess a company or hire people...if you want to keep a worker happy pay good.....you dont need to give money for free but pay good salary....good work environment good salary and good wokers make the company progress together.....definitly Pepsi ( I believe is like soda pop ) is your right hand.....good for him.
Thats good advice. If I hire a gardener to come and mow the lawn and pull weeds twice per month I will need to get a contract drawn up. Would never have thought of that.
If we plan to build a house, will we need to provide a "position description / list of duties" for each employee/contract worker during the build --- aren't they the responsibility of the general contractor... (laborers, builders, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc)?
If you're hiring a general contractor, I would have a contract in place with the contractor that just lists the workers that will be on the property. But I haven't hired a contractor and don't plan to, so you may want to verify that with a professional.
I love the all that you are doing with your channel... if I had one wish for something extra it would be this twofer... Take some time off ..... and while you're doing that...film some local background /scenery😉😉😎 I just cannot find enough posts showing the paradise, the gardens, the flowers, the architecture, the farms, the green... even tho I know this is not the main theme of your channel.
I hear ya! And all of that is coming. I talk about it in the intro video on the main channel page. We have a LOT of work to do to get this property up to speed, and now is not the time to be taking a lot of time off. We do, and have driven around and found some great spots we want to film eventually, but right now when we do take some much needed time off, we aren't filming- because we just want to enjoy it! Soon though, I promise! 😀
Also, check out my facebook page facebook.com/I-Go-Panama-111906237357758 I post pictures of local scenery on there sometimes. And also my group for Panamanian wildlife facebook.com/groups/ojobiopanama
I read your employment contract and was surprised at how vague it was in terms of "clean property". I'd specify no vegetation standing above 6" above soil . something in that vain. but liked the info.
I think he fell from the sky like the angel he is. LOL Seriously though, he lives near my property and used to work here. The previous owner recommended him.
Hello, I hear that once the work is completed, workers in Panama will typically sue you for unemployment insurance, stating that they and their family were depending on that income that currently no longer exists. Will a contract protect you from these unemployment insurance suits?
If they are short term workers, yes, a contract stating the start and finish date of the work is meant to protect you from this type of thing. For long term workers, it might be a little more complicated. Not an issue I've dealt with.
Hi I'm so sorry I forgot your name but I do have a question that's off topic that you may be able to answer. How exactly does the postal system work here? Do they deliver mail directly to your apartment or do you have to get PO box? From what I understand there is no receiving or sending mail out of the country currently so any idea when that might change? thanks so much for your help. If you don't know perhaps Poppie knows lol thank you 😊
you can not just move in, you need to live in a foreign place as a renter. I rented in nicaragua for 5 years. now I have a local business partner, and more,, were good friends. bought property, building a house.. wouldn't dream of doing it when I first arrived.
I could right a book 📖 on this subject, it does not matter if you do it legal or not if they take you to the work department you will pay 💰 thousands they will say they didn’t sign eny paperwork and the work department will believe whatever they say, I’ve had this happen too me 4 times so now I don’t employ Panamanians. I have taken legal action against all of them and yes I did win, if you’re good too the workers they will see you as easy money
Have questions? Come over to the I Go Panama facebook group at facebook.com/groups/igopanama and I'll be more than happy to help you out over there!
came across your great channel a few days ago. Congratulations, it is more informative than most other videos on Panama
Thanks!! Mainly because I'm not trying to sell you something, so I can afford to be honest. ;)
Love your content. Answers every question as I'm thinking of it... clearly, specifically and no waffle!
Ha! That's because I'm a teacher, and it's my job to try to anticipate questions and answer them before they're even asked. 😉
What's wrong with waffles? I kinda want one now.
Very interesting and I love the footage from the water taxi!!
Appreciate you sharing all these experiences and information!💓

You are lucky that you have a good local helper.
I love your videos! You’re a wealth of information. A natural born TEACHER 😊

Yep. In Panama, better safe than sorry when it comes to the law and workers.
What is an average pay per month for what he is doing for you on your size property.

Lol, just found you a few days ago, still catching up!😃😎🌞
Ps.. I'm in Johannesburg, South Africa.. for when you are curious as to where your channel is reaching👍😊
Great info! Thank you!

The workers in my area know what cleaning a property entails. If I got that specific, I wouldn't have any landscaping left! LOL
Good knowledge!
How did you come across Papsi? Did someone recommend him?
I think he fell from the sky like the angel he is. LOL Seriously though, he lives near my property and used to work here. The previous owner recommended him.
@@IGoPanama You are very lucky. Hope everything works out for you and your husband. Thank you for all the great info and links!

I'll be "addressing" this (no pun intended!) in a future video!
@@IGoPanama GREAT Thank you and what is your name again. You should state that in your videos. 😊👍
@@jesussavestrinahaifa5884 Well, the channel isn't really about me, it's about Panama. But my name is Mary. :)

I just moved in without renting- bought my property. And opened a business. Different people have different ways of doing things.
What is the daily salary?
I don't report the personal financial information of myself or my workers. That's private business.
@@IGoPanama other channels reports $20 to $30 per day... just wondering about the actual total cost .. tnx
@@VE2FET Probably depends on where you are and what kind of workers you're hiring.
@@IGoPanama and the monthly minimum salary in Panama is... $800?
@@VE2FET I have no idea. Sorry.
Love the shirt. It would be better, of course, if it said "Diet. Dr. Pepper." lol
