Nice, thank you for upping my scanning game. I didn't even realize that you can download silverfast with epson scan for free until recently. Also, your thumbnail image with the plane over the wheat field; I saw that on /r/analog recently, good stuff :0)
Nice results... and good advice... personally... I have never enjoyed using an Epson scanner (or any other scanner for that matter) for scanning negatives... I have taken to using a digital camera to digitize my negatives....
I don't believe there is a way to scan 35mm with borders included, although I've had some success scanning 120 film with borders as long as it lays perfectly flat on the scanner bed without the holder. If you want the borders included on everything the best bet is to have a lab scan the negatives for you. Labs have different scanners, like frontiers, that can scan with the borders no problem.
i downloaded siverfast on my old pc how can i downloaded it to. my new pc? when i use the like it says this serial number is registered so? how can i dawnlad it?
Great video I had a question I recently purchased the v600 but the side with the power button doesn’t turn on just the light in the front. Is that normal or not? Thanks
Good question, but it isn't as much post-production work as you'd think, all I did here was scan, remove artifacts, and do some advanced sharpening in PS. If I had the cash to make my own home darkroom, I'd definitely do that, but this is the necessary alternative for now
@@dylanwyatt7264 How would you go about creating more defined edges with a color enlarger? Darkrroms aren't built in a day, if that's where you're motivations are then you should start working towards that.
This is definitely NOT the "best method". Scan and correct it as positive in silverfast (white point, black point, neutral point (on the film border)), then load it up into lightroom classic and use negative lab pro. Way better, I mean WAYYYY better results this way.
This is the best video I've seen on Silverfast. Saved me so much time bro!
Glad to hear it, dude! Hope you get great results going forward.
straight to the point and nicely explained, thanks for this!
just got my hands on that free software cuz i have a v600 too, thx yt algorithm - be blessed man!
Hell yeah! Likewise, dude!

yessss another upload. dope video!
Hey Dylan, really nice video and tutorial. You really save me scanning negatives. I think its the best option that i could tried.
Thanks Aaron! Glad I was able to help. I appreciate you!
Firsy 6 minutes interesting for me. (I don't have PS I'm with LR).
Great tutorial. My V550 just arrived today. Is there anyway of scanning with the film borders included. I've tried but can't get the colors right.

If you brave... modify the film holder with a nail file... (at your own risk)...
@@1stfootprint_art Used to do this in school with the negative carriers. It's fun to play around and add borders especially with the old enlargers!
@@dylanwyatt7264 Or just dont use the holders, lol.
sweet, thanks for the heads up about the free silverfast download! nice video too.

Amazing video. Thank you!
thanks for the photoshop sharpen tip, I usually just use PS for dust and LR to to touch it up. You didnt get any dust but I did see a newton ring lol
Why no Kodak Colorplus in Negafix?
Also what is the benefit of TIFF? I don't have any editing software so I've just been scanning into jpeg to post on instagram.
Hi. I have epson v750pro. How i can download free version siverfast?
Егор Лазуренко Hey, thanks for watching. I think you’ll have to pay for SilverFast if you have the v750, it’s only free for the v550/v600
i entered my serial number but the site never gave a link to download the software.
I have never given thought to the side of the emulsion. *facepalm* thank you
Why shoot film if you're going to be doing so much post production?
