I hope you found this video helpful especially for those looking into getting a job in accounting. And for fellow accountants out there, did you have similar expectations? x
I think there are few jobs where you earn big money just at the basic level. The truth is, whatever you do, you need to work your way up the career ladder and it will be your ability to work with people and organise getting things done that will count more than your professional knowledge. The same is true with getting the boring work at a junior level. I know someone who worked in a fashion company buying exciting clothes and it was mostly data input at a junior level. You make some very good points in this video and I hope that getting away and getting a break works for you.
Life can be tough sometimes and the last two years has been particularly wearing. In any professional role you can exhaust yourself if you try and excell. There are not enough hours in the day to get it all done. Take a well earned break, kick back and get a bit of a better perspective in a few days time.
Completely agree that there aren't enough hours in the day to get it all done! And funny you mentioned that because that's the topic of the next video lol
Working from home, for some has been a stress and lack of boundaries between work time and home time, 8pm on Friday is an early finish 555 Its never the numbers you remember, but the people you work with Hope things improve soon and take care Chock Dee Khap
Khob Khun Ka. The worrying part though is that soon we'll be asked to go into the office more often whilst putting in the same hours/productivity we did during the work from home lockdown. Not sure that'll work out too well.
Hello, I am just wondering how much you roughly make on an annual basis because I have aspirations to become a Charted accountant and I do not know how much money to expect. I would hope it is around £60-70,000 after around 7 years and maybe £100,000 after 15 years - whilst living outside London.
Hello Poppy. Currently, I am working from home as Credit controller which is not a core accounting job. I am also preparing for the ACCA exam - skill level. Do you think is it worth it to switch to accounting jobs and prepare for an exam to get more practical experience or do you think I should clear at least skill level and then apply for accounting jobs?
Hi Chetna - I have been working in the Finance industry in India and UK for over 6 years now. I started off working as a bookkeeper (which is more of an accounting role) and it is not much of a Credit Controller job). I would suggest you get aim for an Accounting role as you will be doing ACCA. If you do not get, keep on working in credit control but keep an eye out for accounting jobs.
“I don’t want to be an accountant I want to be a lion tamer” Accountants in practice can be boring as hell. I tried it and hated it but at the time I was always trying to get out to punk gigs, playing and performing. My personality did not fit.
It's a professional qualification so it's not designed to be easy. Se papers are harder than others and I can't really speak for you though as you may have more knowledge than me in certain subjects. What I'd recommend doing is pick up a book and exam kit then you can beyter gauge the level of difficulty
You should change your ‘Expectation’ and ‘Reality’ pics to ‘Before’ and ‘After’ work ones! Lol Poppy, I Find you the furthest thing from boring!! How dare you guys go to Philadelphia, without taking me for a Cleavers Philly cheesesteak!! Lol I am only just down the rd..That is so wrong!! Lol. If you email me to explain your unacceptable, rude behavior!! Lmao..Then I will take you guys to lunch at Victor Cafe, where they sing us Opera music while we dine!
Hey Brian, I didn't know you're just down the road! Well now I know for next time:) I was only in Philly for 2 days then off to WV but did really enjoy the city. Have a lovely weekend!
