I honestly cant tell you how much this game meant to me back in Middle School 😭
I played from roughly 2016-2019. I remember before clan tags were even in the game, and you had to save up credits to change your name. GS was THE team. Hammers was IFL. Getting accepted onto your first team after passing trials. Grinding late at night trying to obtain Spec Ops. Valiance and Mobile-Esports were the big tournaments, that every small team dreamt about competing in. The custom ranked server. Scrimming against other teams… What a time

Man the nostalgia and love i have for this game. I played critical ops with my old friends from elementary school in 2016-2017. It was actually a great cs-go inspired mobile game, it wasn't laggy or filled with ads, it didn't have horrible graphics or ripoffed ideas. It was an idea that was inspired from a bigger game and then branched out to become it's own thing. I loved the museum map and the office map, i think their names were legacy and bureau. My first skin i got was "sugar rush" on the starter pistol. So many amazing memories, unfortunate to hear the state this game is in nowadays

Personally, what really put me off two years ago was the intense competition from other games. Every game company is vying us for our time and money, and with our limited time, it became overwhelming to choose. What really frustrated me about Critical Ops was how it lost its edge for me after ditching the casual defuse mode for shorter, six-round games. Also, there's been a general shift away from mobile gaming, with players flocking to PC titles like CSGO, Valorant, and PUBG. Nowadays, the gaming scene is just saturated with options compared to the prime of Critical Ops.

Very informative and detailed video. I can tell you put a lot of effort into it so respect. The only thing was missing was an interview from the developers but i understand as that may not be possible. We've all grown up with this game and connect with it on an emotional level. The cheating issue is also in cs and even a company as big as Valve has problems with cheaters. I'm not justifying it in any way and a good anti cheat is possible *cough* Valorant *cough* but yeah I really hope the game can rise to to it's glorly like before. You earned a sub.

Probably the biggest thing that really killed the comp scene was joker leaving and then on top of that when the scene was just starting to recover, it came out that multiple teams were cheating in the biggest tournament ever. 2 things that imo are just never gonna be swept under the rug. No company or professional team wants to be a part of a game that cannoy even handle hackers in a tournament where there is potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line. There aren't to many hackers in the game. And tbh the biggest problem is the ghosting. But that can imo only be remedied with more players. Making it exponentially harder to ghost.

    • @TKZHelix
      @TKZHelix 11 місяців тому +2

I don’t it was Joker leaving that killed the game, he left cause the game wasent in a good spot already so the issue was apparent before him leaving.
Your right about hackers but there is a limit to what devs can do about them. Devs don’t have kernel level access to mobile devices because that is against Play store and Apple Store TOS.
I just think that the game isn’t very playable rn (very bland and has issues with gameplay).

Im started this game like in 2016 and played to 2023 and game literally changed by every way. they were needed updates but mostly the devs were updating the things that we didnt needed like the new character models, who wanted that? that is what the game got killed. And most importantly, people keep saying that they want the old c-ops, if they launched the 2017 c-ops right now it wouldnt be played as much in the past because people dont want the old game they want to relive the old game the old fun and the old friends they want to go to past they want to relive the moments in the past and i want it too.

Very good video and well pointed. I hope the people who have to see it, they will sat down and found solutions. One of highest problems are hackers. But this game is also a game to play with your friends. What I have noticed myself so far is that many of us we can’t play in rank with our friends like before because of ranking matches. Platinum can’t party sometimes with golds or golds with silvers. If one of the player is better than he’s friends at one point he will not be able to play with them because of ranking to low to high. I am myself a solo player most of the time. I am Master, and I can’t play with my friends anymore rank. It used to be fun. Before a master could party with all divisions ranks bellow. Now not anymore. Not everyone has capacity to play at highest level or not have iPads pro to get to high rank. If you want to play with friends and you are better than they are you need to do a Smurf account but even like this you will get promoted faster and at one point game will say too far apart. I believe this is one of the most important reasons that players are quitting critical ops, after hackers. Also lower ranks can learn from higher ranks wile playing. You don’t learn if you play only silvers with silvers and most of the time you have a Smurf that will trash all of them, and they will say he is hacking because he is too good. I use to party when I was silver or gold with diamonds or masters and there was less smurfers. I could learn from them movement, strategy, and also it was fun. Now I play solo as a master against full parties of high spec ops and I have no chance to promote and all I see is players want to surrender from first rounds. So how is this fun or playable. You don’t see spec ops solo at all, maybe some boosted ones by hackers but they are not at a level to play against a proper spec ops. I remember old time when I started the game, it was brilliant playing against all ranks. Teams where balanced and game was good. That’s why people are hacking because they can’t go to higher ranks like before. It is impossible as solo player to rich spec op. Only if you have a good party. But not everyone has so much time to play at that level and we lost the fun playing with our noobies friends. Also you can’t see ranks of players at the beginning of the game. You don’t know what strategy to apply. You just presume something but is not the same. Game is more strict and become boring.
If devs want to revive the game they need to let matchmaking like 2019-2020 or even before, let us see the ranks of players. Make a market place for all skins. All the semi guns are water guns now, no one uses them anymore. Everyone use ak47, m4, aug, sg. It is boring for all of us. I used to love using Vector, P90, mpx, not anymore. Fun is the factor for a game not making it very strict. Who wants to play pro they can do tournaments and scrim. Hackers will be less if is not so hard to get to spec ops. The end of the day is just a game, we don’t play for our life’s. Play the game have fun.

Aaah I remember the days...it's so nostalgic. I've been a pc gamer for years now but growing up I didnt have a pc so I was a full on mobile gamer. In 2016 my best friend who I played with everyday told me that there's a new game out and it is not pay to win. It sounded surreal at the time because before this we were only used to playing severely pay to win games which are totally unfair. First time I heard this I was completely sold. We quit all the games we used to play and went to C-ops. It was so much gosh darn fun playing that game everyday and at the time I didnt know about csgo so this concept was totally new to me. I think besides the fact the developers did not listen, its more so that we grew up and became adults. I remember how much I cared about critical ops when I was small but now even the few pc games I play I really dont care about them, as if I've outgrown gaming. Times were simpler and we were simpler too as we were kids

Let me share my thoughts about this game. Most of the OGs like Twist,ROOGHZ and Jokesta quitted the game cuz of hackers. People literally blame it on Developers for not updating the anti cheat system. It's the hacker's fault. Unfortunately, most of the hackers want to KILL the game by making people quit. My friend said a person banned him by using hacks. Yes, using HACKS. It's scary that these hackers now have the power to ban people and unfortunately they could ban EVERYONE. Also C-OPS isn't dead. I have seen on the internet that over 100K people download the game per month. I love C-OPS,and the game shouldn't die. Also nice video man❤

    • @TKZHelix
      @TKZHelix 11 місяців тому +3

I agree, but unfortunately there is a limit to what C Ops devs can do about hackers on the mobile platform. The most powerful anti cheats require kernel level access to the device (basically more access to device files to check for stray files and cheats), this is against AppStore TOS and isn’t possible.
Also even though the game gets a lot of downloads, I think it’s overall culture and playability has slowed down, and I think the core issue is gameplay.

A theory and a suggestion i'd make, since like most of the community wants old versions n stuff:
Make an event since the events r not "engaging" compared to 2020-21, they could make "Critical ops OG" as a temporary event that would maybe last like 6-12 months for the duration of players like to comeback -> they should keep the new anti cheat in the old version (the anti cheat we're talking abt today) and make only a single version of lets say update 1.1 or something and it has over 50% chance for people to comeback and meet the og times for moreover feedback (old brewery, division etc)

Until... The update of heavy armor, damage changes, promise, etc. For me that certain update really changes the game's perspective and everything went downhill (in my opinion). I always thought the more it updated, the more it will be good but not anymore. 1.16 was peak c-ops for me, good balance and recoil. Now guns like Sa58 becomes a loss and no use. This game was either hate and going back after sometime but still sucks. Thank you for this vid!

For me the golden era would be when certain content creator got people hooked around before 2017. I remember watching jokester with ichase making their first c-ops video showcasing the game. From the start to the finish, the most major negative hit that I think sparked was when there was a major tournament that was supposed to be hosted at vegas the first time got cancelled due to the shooting and the tried to revive it again a year later for organisations to profit but then again there is no recovering from that. The wounds from that event tried to heal but a year later 2019, cod mobile came out and that slowly shifted audience for content creation especially for creators, you can also tell creators were trying to shift slowly from c-ops to cod mobile because of the mobile game competitiveness

Dedicated nearly 7 years to this game, and actually was able to become a T1 asian player winning Circuit season 4, but left the game due to lack of tournaments, lack of anti cheat and just overall no improvement of the game. Looking back now, when the game is fully dead. It’s obvious that it was simply inevitable.

agree with a lot of the stuff said in the video but also have to remember that the majority of the cc's lack creativity and so do the developers. The developers are also afraid to take risks trying out new stuff to make the game less stale, they also dont really listen to the community.

д. в CS GO.

Its not bcs the game gets boring after 7 years critical ops i quit on year 6 but bcs the devs made evrything insanly hard to get even reaching high rank impossible as someone with spec ops skills being stuck on diamond rank bcs ppl were smurfing in partys 1 god player carrying 4 golds and plats and my team was alweys noobs plats and the max rank i got was diamond 4 bcs i had no friends to rank up with or 120 hz phone back then and i was playing 2 fingers it took me like 80 or more rank games to get that diamond 4 alone and there was hacker evry 5th rank game

Most of the players play the game because they have been playing the game for a long time because they think they have a special bound with the game just like me; I was literally just a little kid who was playing the game from his mother’s phone and now I’m 21 years old😂
This video has a very high quality in terms of the improvements which are mostly need to listened by the devs. And also the rank accepting screen idea is just a great idea to avoid ghosters. The hackers thing is can just can solved by the devs with their own anti-cheat systems. And also I literally wathced an official video by C-Ops which they were announcing the molotov bomb and it has been nearly 2 years and nothing has done about that. They are just “improving” the game in their own minds and when you actually listen to community no one ever wants to them to do such updates like they have been making since 2020.
“The game is dead idea” is not really correct but I can clearly see that the player numbers has decreased and this makes the game empty and makes the players want to quit game.
The hackers, the ghosters, the updates that are not necessary are just pull the plug of the game.

    Sorry, this'll be long*.
I think the state of the comp scene also plays a part into this more than other issues.
The period where hackers were infesting the game had ALOT of people quit or get tired of playing which cause organisations and teams to leave, aswell as casual players who contributed to view counts just dropping the game because the game wasn't fun anymore. I remember early on when i was new to the game at some point in 2019 or so every game i joined had ATLEAST 1 hacker in the room running through everyone until the room was empty then theyd move onto the next room and it was basically up to luck if you can pull off 1 game without running into a hacker, this would also extend to professional matches where evey now and then a player in a high tier team was outed for hacking in tourneys. This state of decline in comp environment coupled with lack of interest by the general players made the game sorta stale and unmotivating, even after some hug ban waves occurred it wasn't enough to regain the amount of players lost from then.
But to me it seems the effects of that period persist even today and might be why the growth is slow in this game, obviously other things contributed aswell but this seemed like the trigger thag amplified most of the other issues. Due to the decline in the comp scene there rarely was any team that played seriously anymore and it became kind of a free-for-all with nothing binding anyone to one team. Players constantly joined and left clans which disrupts team chemistry affecting performance, clans constantly disbanded and rebranded so you never knew how long a team would be staying for, snaking and toxicity also still happens amongst teammates straining the teams dynamic and gameplay, and in general cringe stuff along those lines. I'd say alot of these things happen cause the player base is relatively young, 14-17 y.old compared to popular fps games that has mostly young adults playing in comp, who are more mature in general so loyalty and respect are more common there, also orgs did one thing that kept teams together and its contracts. While i wouldn't say they should be implemented with every team as they make things complicated it definitely helped keep things together.
Not enough players remaining, a young immature player pool, lack of general respect and loyalty and also no sense of longevity amongst teams; all these resulted in a lackluster comp scene with messy teams (excluding some who kept it together like RGN), this would cause disinterest for the general player base in comp driving them away from participating or consuming/supporting official competitive content, which of course means less viewers and less sponsorships on tournaments as advertisers have nothing to gain from dropping money into a game noone watches... this results in smaller and smaller prize pools which causes less interest and 0 motivation to play for professional teams -> decreasing competition in the scene making it more boring, so people dont tune in to watch and resulting in less advertisers coming to bring in money causing less and less motivation to play and- you get the point? Its a negative loop that can't fix itself until things just deteriorate and no-one wants to play anymore.
There will always be a casual player base as the game itself is fun enough to be enjoyed for 30-60mins a day without sweating or taking things seriously but without a comp scene or hugeee investments the game isn't getting any reach meaning no new players to replace the ones that left and in turn will end up not generating any income which will sadly, eventually, kill the game for good.
This was just my general observation of the state of this game and im not really good with these things so i honestly don't know how you could fix it but maybe a more professional or serious settings (like implementing contracts as an example) would help fix some cracks that are making things worse.
I really hope the game could pick itself back up because it has alot of potential that isn't fully realized and i think even as it is right now its hugely underrated, I've been playing this game for ~6 years and would really hate to see something i once loved any enjoyed to die a slow and disappointing death without coming to its full potential... Just wanted to get this off real quick sorry for anyone who ended up reading this stupid rant😭
Also thanks hyper for making this video❤ i think the insight from different people and just bringing this topic onto the table was very much needed to bring attention to the situation once more

    • @Astrophal
      @Astrophal 11 місяців тому

Also the point of devs not listening constantly comes up, i think they didn't do a good job with understanding the community BACK. IN. THE. DAY.
Nowadays they do a good job imo, they're definitely seeing whats going on in the game but the players are not helping their case by being so negative to every change CF tries to implement, no-one wants to give change a chance.
I didn't finish the video before commenting this but alot of these points came up in the video😭 now my points seem redundant haha

I would like to tell about the player modal. This model has made players hard to differentiate between enemies and teammates. The guns and maps they added are not much used by players. The updates are quite unnecessary. If you guys remember there was an update named "Critical ops remastered". The games downfall started since then. The new maps are extremely hard to play. The players mostly prefer playing in old maps like raid and bureau. The map redesign was good but it made the games popularity go down. I would just like to tell the developers to change the player modal back to the original. Remove useless guns like AR-15 and KSG. I have played this game since 2017. The game was just OP. Jam sad due to the lack of improvisation in Anti cheats and etc.😅

I've been playing this game for a month now because I was just curious, but the game is actually better and more fun than I expected. Although ranked matchmaking in my servers, it is pretty long. For me, there is just something missing in the game, like grindable events, better ui and all of that. There's really nothing to do in the game besdies just "play", and that's what I think the game has fallen off. Lastly, idk if its just me or whenever I log into the game I feel isolated like I just opened Minecraft PE alone for some whatever reason lol.
