I filmed a bit and forgot to put it in haha. Basically said, yes the internet is the Wild West and there is all manner of stuff inappropriate for young audiences, parents need to take responsibility of course. In this instance though you’re essentially selling toys, bright coloured pro skates, promoted with childish silly videos. This will appeal to younger kids and they will likely follow Ilia. Parents might see the bright skates and videos with potatoes or Harry Potter and think this is appropriate. Ilia benefits off a young audience and plays into it, only to be selectively ignorant. Parents aren’t seeing thirst traps and agreeing to those, thirst traps ain’t trying to pretend they are anything else. Roces is not a brand looking to add to the inappropriate content and thats who employed him. I don’t think it was malicious. It was ignorant. He will not get cancelled, an apology and probably some guidance is all that’s needed
The ‘it’s all on the parents’ argument I’ve seen from a few people, as away of taking the heat of Ilia for this, makes me laugh. Like come on now. We were all kids once. Are these people honestly suggesting that their parents knew exactly what they were watching, listening to, playing etc when they were in their young teens? Utter nonsense. Parents can only do so much. Kids will always find away if bypassing it. Evidence: I was a kid once and found a way of bypassing it 😅. Now also a parent, so karma is gonna be a bitch in a few years I’m sure. Point is, you can do everything in your power to stop your kid seeing something and they will still find a way to do if the will is there.
This is well stated Tom. This one "out of line" video is owned by an apology and leading by example going forward. We can all see how unquestionably talented Ilia is on skates, and I commend him for finding an alternative route to showing his abilities and sense of humor. We've also seen that he can produce content in the same tone/manner as other pro edit promotions, but with his personality and skill-set, he can bring something completely unique to the table, and along with that a totally different audience to skating (and Roces). He likely also saw first hand that the most mind blowing skate hammer edit (unfortunately) doesn't drive numbers as much as a mizou in potato buckets or flips in a dinosaur costume. (Not sure how many views/numbers = actual conversions for skate sales, but generating positive awareness is a step forward I guess?)
He gave a heart felt apology. He is young and made a mistake. At the end of the day it was just a video. Canceling a dude for wearing an inappropriate costume and making a tasteless video is insane. His videos generate more attention to our sport than most. If you can’t accept an apology and realize people make mistakes you are going to have a tough go in life.
Yea, not malicious, just tasteless, ignorant and , misogynistic. I’ve only seen on comment saying he should be cancelled and I don’t see that happening. Apology was enough
I don't have Instagram so this was the first I've seen of this, but I'm inclined to think it's just a joke that didn't land. I don't particularly expect rollerbladers to be professional and he's only young, we've all done stupid things in our day. Most of us were just lucky enough to not have it filmed. As well as not being under the pressure of trying to create viral videos to keep our careers afloat. I remember him being called the crazy Russian kid and I feel like he wants to live up to the name. Finally all publicity is good publicity right? 🤷♂️😅
It was a joke for sure and not malicious, but standing there in just his skates thrusting a 🍆doll is not exactly Roces family brand content. People have had more successful doing less gimmicky stuff. Nicholy Macado has 50k more followers.
@@TomMoyse To be honest I've never even considered skating stuff needing to be family friendly. I suppose nowadays if you have a big social media audience it is something you have to take into account though. I understand because it's under a brand they have to be seen to promote certain things and condemn others for their image. I can't imagine many kids will be bothered by this, as realistically I bet they watch far worse things online, jeez I know I did as soon as I got my own computer 🤐
@@chilli-iceolive-abode2447 yea it’s the fact he is employed by a brand who don’t have that image. 💯kids can find that stuff online if they go looking for it, but his content is kinda tailored to kids a lot of times, he has bright coloured skates, they might follow him thinking he’s a bit silly then all of a sudden they’ve got his 🍑 in their. Roces just need to give him a little gaudinace
I love Ilia's skating but these videos are so damn cringe ,Hes trying to get more and more extreme while essentially posting the same video over and over , the bit is dead now
Finally someone said this. I stopped following him ages ago cuz he does too much. No one cares you skate with bucket full of potatoes on your feet. He’s a sick skater but completely ruined his page with the cringe content. Now this. Everyone makes mistakes and if he would of taken full responsibility of the video then all good but all he did made himself a victim and his apology drowned in some other bs he wrote to that post.
I don't ever really agree with the "think of the kids" argument around these types of situations. Maybe it makes more sense to say "think of the parents of the kids who will write off our brand" but the internet isn't and hasn't ever really been a kid-safe environment - especially Instagram haha. The post wasn't a great move, but it's definitely true that he's been on this trajectory for a bit. It's certainly not surprising. I also appreciate the variety of personality Ilia brings to the Roces team. The crass humor isn't to my personal taste, but I enjoy how he doesn't take his skating image seriously while he still does treat the physical aspect very serious.
I agree the internet is the Wild West, but why feed into that especially when you’re selling toys, have bright coloured pro skates, make childish videos - kids are more likely to look for that and follow that and have it pushed into their feeds. There is already borderline stuff there, but this was a step beyond. posting that was ignorant of his audience. Parents, could also see the bright skates and silly vids and think it’s fine and then be pretty surprised by last one. He benefits from kids views but just did not think at all when posting this one. Roces are accountable, they should have managed it. What does the misogynist element teach kids. How does that affect young girls? Think of the kids is defo a consideration
Yeah I think I’m with you with that argument - a lot of pearl clutching and moral panic concerns can be justified with ‘thinking of the kids’. Granted, kids will see a lot more damaging content on IG, sexual in nature and otherwise, but it doesn’t mean you can do x because someone has done worse. If ilia wasn’t on roces, would it still be up?
@@shupostekud I think it’s weird that way he flits between Harry Potter vids etc to 💥 blow up doll. If he was on a brand outside of rollerblading he would have be fired. If he was not on Roces it would have lasted longer but the platform would have taken it down. Roces did him a favour.
It’s possible for multiple things to be true, in the sense that Ilia seems to be (by a lot of accounts) driven, hardworking and serious about creating content…even when that content isn’t serious at all! Far as I can tell, this was just borne of ignorance and a bit of a “heat check” moment (realizing where the line was, not giving it any thought, or misjudging ppl’s reactions completely). At the end of the day, regardless of potato buckets, duct tape, keyboards, or any other props, he is great for Roces business-who else is getting that many eyeballs on Roces skates? Yes Nils is probably better on a grassroots level in terms of touring and doing demos for locals, but Ilia is putting Roces skates in ppl’s feeds nonstop. I imagine it is a challenge to maintain buzz/currency for a skate company if the skate technology isn’t changing at all (aside from colours/skins)
Yea. I’d love to see the data on how effective strapping an inflatable doll to you has on the sale of aggressive skates. Whats the conversion rate for novelty content? It’s not worked for the last two skinned skates. How much silly viral stuff gets put in your feed and you just move onto the next?
@@TomMoyse As much as I hate to think this is the case, I wonder how many sales Nils' heartfelt and genuine edits drive conversions by comparison to the fun off-the-wall approach Ilia has taken (edit in question put aside)? I think both approaches are valid, if we consider who the target audience might be. Current skaters who appreciate the subtle nuances of a well laced backslide, or a 13-year-old who might think skating looks cool, fun, and approachable.
@@mattbtv yea its interesting Ilia plays into novelty to get reach but what’s the quality of that audience? How often do you get joke stuff in your feed that you laugh at then move on. Is it fair to ask: how many kids do you see modding skates like he does and putting on fancy-dress to replicate him? Nils is 99% of the time purely skating, it’s only gets pushed out (shared/likes) because people like that - people get an authentic idea of what skating is like. He might do averagely lower numbers, views wise, but the people that see it get a fair more accurate portrayal of what they will be likely be doing (obviously not to that standard) Ilias view numbers are not always so substantial more that even if just a small percentage converted it would eclipse the effect Nils content has. assuming we agree and authentic portrayal is more effective. Maybe it the ratio of novelty to normal it could be more effective. This is my assumption it’s hard to say without figures.
@@TomMoyse All points well taken. I agree it ought to be about quality over quantity as well. Kids who buy skates on novelty will also likely drop them for the next novelty. Though honestly, I don't know if any content is really safe from SNS attention span and the insatiable thirst for scrolling/clicking on these days. That's the part that's gets to me. Personally, most of Ilia's content is not my bag, but I can appreciate the underlying athleticism he has and see the value in a unique approach. It's as if Aragon was also a physical comedian. And I mean that in a good way. Likewise for Nils, he's a superhero in his own right. And, for all of the work put into these edits, the feed's only response is "thank you, next"
@@mattbtv agreed. Ilias is an athlete and it does make me laugh a bit that his athleticism goes into the silly videos. He is trying for reach but doing it in the cheapest, easiest way. I’d love to see him apply some real creativity and actually try to be original not just a poor man’s version of jackass and any derivative of that.
Good coverage - i'm in two minds about swarths of people commenting on how wonderful he is after the video was taken down - maybe they didn't see it or know anything about it and i don't think his actions need to blown up (yaaaas jokes) into a full witch hunt, but it just seemed a bit much. Hopefully he learns from his actions and we can all move on and be friends again.
Yeah I suspect a lot of the people who are saying it’s totally fine haven’t seen it because when you see it it’s definitely different from just describing it. Vigourous and aggressive might be good words to describe it ha ha. I don’t think he needs to be cancelled or anything like that just a bit of guidance And apology is fine even though I think his reasonings were a bit rubbish as well.
Great coverage. The people throwing their dramatic support behind him are doing way more harm than good for him. He (and doubly so, Roces) clearly just want to put this behind them and for people to stop talking about it (but we are rollerbladers, and we do love to talk 😂). I like him a lot, but family-friendly roces 100% can't put up with stuff like what he posted. As you say, they arguably should have drawn the line a lot sooner, but they simply couldn't ignore this vid. Cant help but wonder why he doesnt go somewhere else. He doesnt really fit well on any of any of the teams, but roces really seems the worst fit for him. Maybe Gawds? Another influencer-type would be good for them, and they would likely be cool with him making more edgy content, as they are less kid focussed?
Thanks. Roces have such little direction. He won’t get a pro skate anywhere else quickly so I image he’ll just stay were he is and keep doing his thing
How old are the jackass movies? They came with a warning and were 18+ in the uk. Instagram is 13 and above. What he posted was misogynistic whatever you want to compare it to. You would show your 13 yr old daughter it as an example of how females are looked upon in rollerblading - as a joke and comparable to a blow up doll. This applies for any female seeing it. On top of it all it’s also rubbish
I'm a big fan of the lad, and not all of his stuff is completely up my alley, i do appreciate what he does and think it's generally positive for rollerblading - genuinely. I mean i'm not sure he's exactly making a massive dent in sales with his antics but he reaches a wide audience that rollerblading rarely reaches, and that counts for a lot - people just don't see rollerblading, at all, and the more people see it, whether they're going long distance for charity or fucking around with a bucket of potatoes or whatever inbetween, the less generic kneejerk "lol gay" comments we'll see (and the more such commentary will be derided). I certainly regard Ilia as a professional, if not at least incredibly hard working - if not simply as a skater (and i'd count all his clips of his workouts toward that, without a skate in sight) but as someone trying to play the social media game, which he's definitely got a knack for - i mean the sheer amount of content he spits out with different batshit ideas is pretty impressive. All that being said, he clearly fucked up. Without a doubt. Apologising was absolutely the right thing to do. I think he explained himself well, though i do agree he could have left that last part out. I do hope he and Roces can move forward together, though i can absolutely understand him being put on the bench for a good while.
On a side note, while i agree that rollerblades are toys, they aren't *just* toys, and i don't think basing an argument on that is entirely valid. That's like saying a bicycle is just a toy. The figure floating around Primoz Roglic was around 6million euro for him to ride his bike, but you don't go comparing that to your average rider picking up a huffy in toys'r'us.
I haven’t seen the post. I just now heard about it today. Got dayumn, that was crazy. Tbh I’m not too surprised. Illia can be goofball sometimes but I do believe he LOVES rollerblading. Okay. Everyone, take a deep breath…let it out. Does everyone feel lighter now? Okay, good. Who’s going for a skate?
I skated a lot like 24 years ago and would love to buy skates again, but there are no good soft boot skates out there anymore! WHY? I rly loved the K2 style points bob back in the days, they were so comfy. I did find some newer models by K2 online but all of them are out of stock everywhere. so sad
@@-dubios- they are a great skate for pairing with a 3x110 frame as well as the aggressive frames. Since the liners are walkable shoes it's great to go out for a roll without having to carry a backpack or anything else. I sometimes like to go skating, then meet friends for a beer or lunch, and I just roll places and don't have to go home to put on shoes or carry anything else with me.
Whole thing seems insincere on roces part being they were one of the first likes on the Instagram post. Imo them going from that to forcing him to pull it down over the course of hours looks worse than the vid did in the first place.
haha, the like was defo before they watched it properly, it would have been taken down by the platform soon enough, and it's defo not worse. If he felt he did nothing wrong why apologise?
I wonder if those who show their support to him have even watched the video. I haven't but I just think it was childish like most of the content he makes. He needs to learn from this and be sure what he wants to do with his content/behavior in the future.
To the parents of kids seeing this, totally - I get how this could cause a storm for Roces. But for the 13-14 year olds seeing it? I can almost guarantee they would find it dumb/funny/weird, and then move on. When it comes to violence in media or soft-core sexual content, pre-teens and young teens aren't the ones flipping out themselves. It's the hyper-vigilance of some parents, who are completely ignorant to what an average kids sees and hears. It's always been this way, from ESRB ratings on games to Parental Advisory stickers on albums to the recent backwards uptick in book banning in American schools and libraries. These things never stopped kids from watching/listening, much the opposite - it made them even more curious. So as you say, it's dumb on Ilia's part as a representative of a brand who makes a lot of their money off of the PARENTS of kids. Totally agree on this point. No one said he literally can't make this type of content, it's just that he should have expected this response. No mainstream social media company would allow it on their platform (I know, it's dumb) and OF COURSE Roces wouldn't let it slip. He can make whatever the hell he wants - it's just that he'll also have to change sponsors (and online platforms) if he wants to go this route. I'm all for it, but his wallet won't be. Unfortunately, I sense an insta shadow ban in his near future. Good luck gaining followers now Ilia, better start a new account.
Win? People have told me they sent their skates back. Plenty of people talked about Bobis skates…..they didn’t sell. Talking doest equal sale or conversions. I wonder how many of these adults giving it the Bigg’n will buy these water Mellon skates
@@TomMoyse purely speaking from a practical perspective, the skates not selling and the eyes on his media can be considered separately. Watermelon colored skate didn’t really have much to do with the risqué video, and I expect the people that have been turned away from the skates because of the video are negligible. I highly doubt that non-bladers who are in the market to buy Roces for their kids would have seen the video at all. Blader parents who have seen the video and happen to be in the market to buy Roces for their kids are also probably educated enough on the different models of skates that they are going to buy the skates that meet their needs regardless of this one risqué video by a professional comedic content creator. Polarizing content is excellent for mobilizing quality fans that want to invest in your product, and good at filtering out low-quality fans that will be swayed by controversy. If Roces does not cut ties with Ilia at this pivotal moment, Ilia will maintain a position of power knowing that he can simultaneously maintain his business connections, push the boundaries of his art, and stir the pot to generate more views and gather a core fanbase.
@@dolphinuppercutI don’t think someone who is swayed by controversy is a low quality fan? That’s someone making a conscious decision with what/who do support with their hard earned dollars based on what aligns with their values
Yeah this is one of those situations in which everyone kind of does the “either/or fallacy” on the reactions. Someone else commented on this similarly above. Whether the video is offensive or not or funny or not is completely irrelevant. He’s a pro, he represents a brand, that brand decided the video was not something they wanted him to put out as a representative of that brand. Video gets taken down, company apologizes. That’s about it. The video could be funny AND inappropriate for the brand. People could be a little too soft when it comes this stuff AND he could be and ignorant kid who posted something kind of misogynistic. All of those things kind be true and not necessarily contradict each other
Yes - ultimately it’s been dealt with by his sponsors. further to this it would have been removed from insta by the platform and wouldn’t be able to exist on other platforms that weren’t behind pay walls.
Man, this was the single best piece of blading journalism I've seen 👍👍Good on you for calling out Lino on this one! And sorry for getting mad about it the other time... I think you content is top notch for the most part!
If they cancel the best looking skates theyve ever released I will be so pissed, Ive been saving for weeks for these and the last thing I want is the aggressive pair Ive had my eyes set on to just disappear. I sitll wont be able to get them for a couple more so heres hoping with my fingers crossed that they'll stiull be around by then.
@@TomMoyse That makes me feel better. I love Ilia's content and the skate. Considering the aggressive skating culture of hte 90s I can see how a mistake like this can happen, just hope everyone is able to learn and move on without it having a permanent affect on his career. This culture started w pushing boundaries and sometimes when you do that you're gonna slip up, as long as he learns it should be all good to get back up again imo.
I mean comedy is comedy but being a pro at any sport carries responsibility! If we ever want to be taken seriously as a sport it’s just not the way to go IMO for decades we been in that category of “not a real sport” or “hobby” with the public that we are expected to grow out of. I don’t think this helps at a time when Julio is out there beyond our little bubble getting some interesting collaborations going and there’s talk of the olympics (doubt it, but talk is good). plus I sort of feel like it’s all just knock off jackass crap.
Also I mean long term who do we think was better for skateboarding jackass or tony hawks. I wanna play Ilia’s new PS5 game when it comes out. Sure there would be some interesting bonus levels on that one 😂
You put a kid on the team who just come out of puberty, tf do you expect 🤣 Have you guys not learned from Sheckler. It's not like the brand manager went out of her way to educate the kid on how to 'accomodate to the opposite sex', or their wider younger audience. I do feel the brand at least in part responsible for not setting clearer grounds on the basis of sponsorship.
Contract is probably lost in translation. English doesn't directly translate into Russian, if that was the basis of communication. In saying that, there'd be gaps for sure 🤣 The company's biggest mistake was no quality control of content. They should've had a better structure in place for that, which - for a multinational is kinda standard. I guess if they were cutting costs there, imagine where else. Pretty big worry HR was run by somebody not suitably equipped to handle the role and actual responsibilities involved for - cross cultural ambassador relations and employing thereof. Plenty to learn from and I hope they actually employ people that can prevent this from happening again - maybe by the sounds - it could be a big ask haha @@TomMoyse
I can understand why Roces were miffed as a brand but as for individuals (e.g. cAnCeL hIm) sounds like drama for drama's sake 🙄 grip required in aisle five
It was swiftly removed. The platform would have removed it eventually anyway. His apology was enough to address it. There’s been extreme views either side somewhere in the middle is probably about the right place.
clearly these guys are just immature and love the shock reactions from people. they weren't sitting there thinking "ahh, i wonder if this will be received well by audiences." they were probably stoned and laughing hysterically the entire time and posted it without hesitation bc they thrive off shock value.
amigo, duplicarias tus seguidores con solo poner subtitulos en español!.... eres una persona a la que nos gustaria escuchar, toda el habla hispana! ojala lo tengamos pronto! me encantaria saber que dices ja
Not everyone just able to understand who Ilya really is. Safe, posting xxx content is obviously bad for kids. But I would probably consider every skatepark like not the right place for kids to be in. Smoking pot, doing drugs, bad words… all this stuff affects children. But being crazy and asocial is also part of such sports. We have guys, warming up every time skating. Someone uses beer for warm up though. I m not saying he’s correct. But I can’t say he did extra wrong. After all Human is to err, so don’t judge Savosin so hard. Roces ve never seen the person more creative. Peace)!
Interesting take, but there is a difference between working for a brand, clearly producing content aimed at children (then switching), and going to a skatepark. He breached his contract. It was also misognistic. He's been critiqued for his actions and the apology was enough that's hardly being judge to hard. Oli Short was the most creative skater Roces has ever had. Also there is plenty of skate parks that are kids friendly.
He has a point about how this type of shock jock content does get views. I think there is a place for a happy medium. If not with Roces, then perhaps with another brand. Of course he has to be careful, because he may not have meant to demean women as a group, but since his audience is apparently young, then they could easily get the wrong Impression and try to imitate his antics or it could reinforce negative views about women that are being perpetuated in other influential platforms.
Yea doesn’t suit the brand, but then again the brand doesn’t really have a strong image anyway - plus with any brand this would be taken down by the platform
Ilia is different and not boring. I've seen promotion videos with skaters smoking dope. So what? Young people use to do silly things. They have fun. You can chose what you watch and who to follow. These are the advantages of democracy.
In this instance you’re comparing smoking to misogyny. Also the thing you mentioned is prohibited on Insta. Absolutely, you choose who you follow but when that person clearly feeds into content for children and you build an audience with that people expect certain standards - to then post something completely inappropriate and misogynist is unprofessional - maybe even more so because that’s not his employees image. He breached his contract and it was taken down, it would have been taken down by the platform as well. He apologised and that’s fine. I don’t think it’s worth comparing to other things you’ve seen from other people, base it off what happened. It won’t damage his career at all
@@TomMoyseanyway your video is curious to watch. Thanks for time filming and entertaining the audience. I think I was similar to Ilia in his age - conducted different bullshit and had fun. But I was not so proficient in skating. And I am not now as well.
I remember the times when roces' instagram account was full of half dressed up ladies on blades and full of content which did not make much sense. Everyone in roces should stay quiet and let this one stupid post die out. Because the way they were handling their ig account in the past was nothing more then a soft version of Ilia's post.
Im sad that rollerblading is so boring for the masses. Great rolling vids get a few thousand views but a cat video gets millions. I can see Ilias intent and admire his creativity, but I fell alot of it is forced now, like he just puts whatever idea up without much editing or fine tuning. I would prefer to get less vids from him that are still wacky and expressive but a little better produced than just a seemingly unfiltered stream of consciousness that has alot of desperate undertones
You yourself are trying to hype on this topic about that video, you are building yourself so right. most people liked the video and you're making a big deal out of a molehill.
Yes I’ve chosen to speak on something that’s been very present in rollerblading since it happened. Most people didn’t see it and they’re the most vocal. Did you see it
To be honest, I didn't fully understand your point in this video. Something big happened? You’re pretending that’s it. But nope, unfortunately the recent times have shown that really big things are covid and wars (I'm glad you're not affected by the latter). Perhaps it's done on purpose to raise views and more engagement in the comments. Perhaps you are genuinely unhappy about something or think you know best and can judge (yes you can, now everyone can haha). The truth is that many people want to be on the same page with current trends, want to be "right" but seem to lose their lives in it and pull others down with them. As for kids, rappers and their songs have done the thing long time ago, nowadays 5 year old kids repeat all those lines about b**ches and so on and there's probably nothing wrong with that. Everyone will find their way, it’s not really depends on some skater’s videos and you know about this, buuut. +1 comment here, congrats
A guy representing a family brand, had a stinker, rightly got a slap on the wrist from the brand and apologised. Yea there is bigger things in the world but imagine you’re only concerned with what the top two awful events are.
It's really sad how censorious and fragile your generation is. Beware because the cancellers often become the cancelled. Also you are probably just getting into this drama to boost your own profile, once again, sad.
My generation? I started skating in the 90s. You’re blaming a whole generation for a different opinion to yours haha. One person said cancel his skate - don’t worry pal. If you paid any attention you’d notice I said it wasn’t malicious and an apology is enough. Boost my own profile? 😂 been doing rollerblading vids for a while now, including the news, it’s not like this is left field I was just giving an opinion like the rest of rollerblading was. Cool man, well that's even worse that you are from the 90's. Keep feeding the drama and the zeitgeist, i'm sure it must be a satisfying and meaningful way to use your time🥰@@TomMoyse
Also the way you so easily moralise in this video really speaks volumes. You are obviously super confident that your moral compass is one that we all should follow. Peace you silly dingus.🤣@@TomMoyse
Yes I think that could we have been the case. Image this in another field of work. Image if we have big brands like Nike sponsoring skaters. That would have been him done
I think Ricardo is just such a nice guy he wouldnt hate on anything, even if its skating while f***** a doll doesnt matter. Also I think this is where he internet got ruined, because there are now kids on the internet.. that means all adult content must be completely banned? How about make a separate kid friendly social media page so the rest of the world can watch/upload content without having to worry about if its kid friendly or offensive.
Definitely misogynistic. I had his skates just come in the day before, shipped em right back the day after. We coach a lot of talented girls in our region and I can’t support this kind of content. Not in this day and age. We grew past that (or so I thought).

@@АлександрУстиненко-э3о he probably won’t get it. Too hard for a man tangled up in inclusivity and “pleasing everyone” narrative to just take a joke as a joke.
The problem here is misogyny- not graphic content. Ilia’s message was: get yourself a girlfriend who will be your own personal blow up doll. It’s not just juvenile, it’s dehumanizing. Sadly, this does appeal to a lot of boys and men. Dudes: do better
This point exactly. All the men saying things like "you can't say anything nowadays" and "people are too sensitive" can't possibly understand how offensive this is from a female perspective, so they don't care. Just gross men basically.
How is joking about what we humans actually do dehumanizing. It's honestly sad that people can't have a good laugh anymore about the ridiculousness of the fact we are hairless apes.
“Misogyny”. 😂Unprofessional, maybe. But I don’t think it’s worth rolling out all the buzzwords. It’s a kid being dumb. Yet, somehow, the adults commenting on it are the ones that need to grow up.
I didnt see the video but i imagine it would have a jackass vibe which i loved in my late teens. I guess sex sells and its enough you made an entire video towards it.
I also did not see the video. I am not into that type of humor. But to argue a kid might see it is well? If a kid is on insta they could be anywhere on any site. The internet gets much dark then this. As for brand representation not a good look for Roces. But I also feel if you are going to back someone dont be fair weather. Back them. It makes the brand seem disloyal. Kind like how England treated Beckham after the world cup he kick homie. Fair weather as fuck.
I agree they could, the difference is when you’re selling toys, have bright coloured pro skates, make childish videos kids are more likely to look for that and follow that and have it pushed into their feed. He benefits from kids views but just did not think at all when posting this one. It’s not appropriate at all. Roces are accountable, they should have managed it
Honestly, not surprised. Already thought he was extremely wild and immature. Immaturity doesn't have a place in most business places. He also seems to have a bit of bipolar, going from family friendly like his keyboard skate video to this, just bouncing between two ends. This really needs to be addressed, maybe even have an intervention. He doesn't seem to get the idea that he can't live his life that way.
Agree, he plays into the family friendly stuff, tries to engage kids and then goes to the other extreme. It’s odd behaviour. Roces need to give him some guidances
@@Anton_RBlife that doesn’t make a difference - the comp didn’t require him to go to the lengths he did or be misogynistic. He posted on instagram which is not a platform exclusive to the competition and has it own set of guidelines - this would have been taken down by them eventually anyway. Did you see the video?
@@TomMoyse I saw it, but not on Instagram. And I also don’t know the conditions of the competition. And I don’t think he’s a misogynist, some of his videos don’t seem funny to me either, but there’s no arguing about sense of humor, it’s different for everyone. But I’m pretty tired of the way different people take offense at everything. I’m not defending it now, I just don’t understand the position of those people who see something offensive in this. Stupidly ridiculous and not funny, not pleasant to watch, yes, maybe. Offensive? no, but that's my opinion.
Misogynistic? Absolutely. Total absence of parenting? Clearly. Other dudes whining about the backlash he's getting just shows how far we still have to go in society.
as long as south park & family guy are still airing things like this are super non concerning to me, wish he was with mesmer instead billy would'nt have gave a fuck fr

Lol it's funny how being sensitive is seen as a bad thing, just means your not numb really, it's like seeing someone in pain and going, ain't my damn problem, or worse not noticing anything. Just cuz we were all indoctrinated with this rubbish in the nineties, it doesn't make it right, everything comes at a price, you need to think before you act about how that action may effect someone else, not everyone is so privileged.
If you are representing a company and it's not the image they are going for then they have all the rights to take it down. Imagine a big company like Nike you'll be sacked the next day. Thinking about it, the superman video abit cringe too with something packed under his over pants.
Ha. My pal mentioned that could have been the ploy the whole time. I genuinely think he thought it was fine, I guess the one benefit for him is no matter what it gets talked about. It’s a shame for the most part he seems to just be going for the lowest level of entertainment. Heat is really well produced on the other hand
The sad group think grandstanding when anything happens in this industry is a constant reminder of why Rollerblading is a such a sad shell of its former self. Fully grown middle age adults writing dissertations on overreading into a purposefully cringy skit is so pathetic that its hard to explain. Extreme sports were BUILT on counterculture. That was the appeal to SO many kids that were sick and tired of being told how, what, when, and where they could enjoy their youth, and were looking for an outlet to express themselves. And it has devolved into this pathetic discussion on everyone needing to be "advertiser friendly". Good job keeping Rollerblading dead guys. Maybe pull your heads out of the sand and take a look at BMX culture and reflect on why its thriving, and has single riders being compensated more then EVERY pro rollerblader combined, while not caving to group think.
No one is confusing the intent to be cringy but it was misogynistic. His brand called him out, took it down, like the platform would have and he apologised. Yea the foundations of extreme sports are counterculture but that not how they excel financially, their reach isn't from counterculture. Would you count posting on one of the most popular social media platforms and purposely leaning into what gets views as counterculture. This is just one occasion, when has anyone recently been told to be more advertiser friendly?
He makes low quality, crass attempts at humor, which is a legitimate reason to criticize him, but instead you immediately start parroting current internet drama buzzwords like "misogynistic", while desperately grasping for victims that do not exist. Anyone with a developed frontal lobe can see he was in no way making a statement on women, he mearly made a bad attempt at crass shock humor that flopped, and the most chronically online people want to act like it was a statement on women as a whole because they are constantly searching for someone who was wronged. A white man deciding whether what another white man did is derogatory towards a marginalized group, where have we seen this before! And yeah, youre right, counterculture cant pay the bills, hence why Senate and Mindgame were obviously the 2 least successful brandings in rollerblading correct? You should go be the be marketing director for Redbull and Monster energy, because its obvious building a brand based on targeting counterculture isnt working for them based on their quarterly earnings reports right? And yes, I would consider him posting a video that is completely against the current trends and group think as counterculture, again, I dont think you grasp the literal definition of the words you are using. The fact that he was forced into a PR apology, and the content was taken down solidifies that. This is just another example of the current rollerbladers doing everything they can to try to cater to the general public that has NEVER been interested in extrteme sports, and wondering why there is no interest/growth from the core group of youth that built the foundation of consumers in the industry in the first place. BTW, I dont remotely think it was funny or entertaining in anyway, and at that he isnt even talented enough to be am let alone pro, but this is the current state of rollerbladers so hear we are...
@@lousassol3 calling a very significant term with serious implications such as misogyny an “internet drama buzzword” instantly nullifies that entire paragraph you wrote
@jonathantoribio1505 you are so close to actually comprehending what you read. The use of "Misogynistic" has been on an upward trend for the last 10 years, however if you remotely look into the etymology of the word, in recent years it is commonly being misappropriated to mean "anything a straight male does that can be viewed as negative involving a woman for any reason" instead of "someone (of any gender/sexually) viewing and treating women as lesser then men." There are unfortunately still PLENTY of actual misogynistic events/views/rulings happening every day now, from politics, local and major government rulings and laws, etc. The current trend of using the word as a catch-all only serves to lessen the power and meaning of the word and the accusation behind it. Ex: This obnoxious inappropriate use of such words is exactly how neo-nazis have started to reenter the public image/political commentary sphere. Because of left leaning "activists" using the word "nazi" to describe people they politically disagree with, the power behind the word/accusation is diminished, allowed a benefit of doubt to the those ACTUAL Aryan Nation/Neo-Nazis in the general public eye, as they are constantly exposed to the word being thrown around when not applicable. Do you GENUINELY believe he was making a statement about his view on the standing/value of the female sex, or do you think he was just a moron trying to make lame shock comedy involving him thrusting a blowup doll because sex is a taboo subject to discuss publicly? Use your frontal lobe for just 20 seconds here I beg you and you might have a breakthrough when you realize hes not funny, not very entertaining, but none of that means he was making a statement that women are lesser then men.
Haha do you actually live by these types of sweeping statements? Forget nuance. No-one is telling him stop being himself. It’s one instance where what he posted was misogynistic and inappropriate and he been pulled up by the brand he represents. He apologised and is free to continue doing what he did before. Are you upset he got told off?
@@TomMoyse I honestly think censoring people is insane.. Why do we always think we are always right, because we are afraid of admitting we don't know.. so we shut everybody else up
Sorry, one more thing.. I don't blame roces for firing him.. But he doesn't need to be crucified by his own people for trying to express himself.. If he is Jesus?? Backside royal that cross brother
Awesome video as always. I didn't see the video but I definitely heard about it 😂 😂 he's a great Skater but the daft videos he does just aren't for me to be honest. As you say definitely needs guidance on his contents of his videos, especially Skating for Roces.
Haha although I do love a daft phrase, it’s defo daft and he went well too far, even if not maliciously. Mad thing is if he could step back from the low level, cheap, sock value stuff and stop away from being a poor man’s jackass that’s 20 years late and apply this aparent creativity he could do wonders.
Im more offended by Roces than Ilia... this is hilarious time. I totally hate this times when everyone feel like offended, who cares? For real its only one person from whole community who is doing something different. And lets how many riders can join or buy their stuff only because he have this numbers? Its nice that they have Nils, Bobi, Yuto etc. they are super cool and skilled riders but Roces as a brand is no more the best one choice which you can choose. Im not saying skates by brand Roces are bad but the not the best choice for the money which u can buy at this moment. They had so big problem when the brand had to sell it to another owner to survive.. Just have to say, they should start see what is he doing as a marketing to buy a product, and if they say it doesnt matter - they lie. Everybody doing it for the money... And for real I know what is enough and what is overshot but for this are people doing marketing.. so if you are not happy what is creator doing for you, just take a sit make a call with him and just talk, not just be offended like a kid, internet is not a same place as it was 10 years ago. Many companies not only in skate community almost everywhere are giving you approve to share something so why its not working here? I would say its not just fault only Ilia then. Everybody in this times are like Im feeling like this person, Im not a girl I feel like a boy.. who fking cares? For me feel like a chair or a stone I dont care just take little piece of enjoyment and laughs sometimes on everything. This thing totally pissing me the most of the time when Im everywhere. community In the I want say if you will like a whatever just take piece of chill pill and try to live and ride everything what you prefer not only skates :)
now all of you who constantly crying about aggressive inline is not mainstream or successful and pros don't get enough money but you are hating on a guy who is reaching so many people with his funny videos.. so many of my friends who don't give a fuck about skating sending me his videos. you have to decide what you want. also you highlighted someone commented 'cancel him' while i was reading in the comments majority of the people supported him. So i hope he stays the way he is, if the Roces doesn't like it, its another thing.
I’m not sure that many ppl are moaning about it not being mainstream, ppl have accepted it - but wanting pros to get paid and posting inappropriate videos aren’t mutually exclusive. Just because you want pros to get paid doesn’t mean you have to accept whatever is put out. If it breached his contract it’s hardly going to have mainstream appeal. There is other reaching many people but in more authentic ways. It’s good to have variety though 🫡
I think its a really funny post to make, but definitely not something to post when you're a representitive of a Major brand in the space, especially when its a brand thats actively trying to make skating cool and accesible to the new younger generation. A bit of an extreme reaction from Roces, but not unwarrented in any sense in my opinion, would hate to see him dropped from the team as hes a fantastic and funny skater, but i assume its also not completely off the table because of the reputation Roces are trying to foster
Hahaha exactly. The people most vocally upset are the ones complaining it got taken down haha it’s like their world has caved in on itself because one tasteless video got pulled.
Really well said Tom.
Where can i see the vids?
Agreed.
💯kids can find that stuff online if they go looking for it, but his content is kinda tailored to kids a lot of times, he has bright coloured skates, they might follow him thinking he’s a bit silly then all of a sudden they’ve got his 🍑 in their. alright boys someone post it somewhere and share a link
The name of his channel is Savosin Cringe, what did you expect exactly ?! 🤷♂
“Poor man’s jackasss” sums it up pretty well
I don't ever really agree with the "think of the kids" argument around these types of situations.
He might do averagely lower numbers, views wise, but the people that see it get a fair more accurate portrayal of what they will be likely be doing (obviously not to that standard)
Ilias view numbers are not always so substantial more that even if just a small percentage converted it would eclipse the effect Nils content has. assuming we agree and authentic portrayal is more effective.
Everyone: Senate kill team, future prospects! Bring it all back!
Also everyone: I’m offended 😢
You seen the vid
Maybe am in the middle cus some comments on both sides seem a little over the top.
Oh yea there is extreme comments on both sides
I don't see the big deal to be honest. Kids watch the Jackass movies and there's far worse happening there.
I remember people taking their six or seven year old kids to see it in the theater. That was definitely NOT ok. Kids should be protected
Good video, this one. Not the Ilia one.
Cheers pal
Yea it’s pretty disgraceful . An apology, a slap on the wrist and on we go
I think dudes like ilia are gold for brands, if they know how to use him right.

@@H3nrque oh nice, that sounds great
Whole thing seems insincere on roces part being they were one of the first likes on the Instagram post.
We’re talking about it so win for Ilia and his brand.

Bang on!!! lol what was Lino thinking with that commment!!!🤣
Haha no idea - he does have some clangers

I sitll wont be able to get them for a couple more so heres hoping with my fingers crossed that they'll stiull be around by then.
They won’t cancelled it at all, they can’t afford to. I’m sure the apology would appease them.
Don't worry they're already in stock at loco at least, they ain't going nowhere!
Tom--YES, 100%. I couldn't have said it better myself (much less created entertaining content to go along with it!)👍👍
Thanks pal
Haha THPS for sure. Some comedy ain’t really comedy it’s just tasteless acts that beg for attention disguised as comedy
The other issue is why are 85% of roces skates ugly? I did like the Nils and Yuto skates. But overall nothing memorable.
Haha. They are going to need a lot more views on those vids to sell them.
Yea little guidance wouldn’t have hurt. Wonder what his contracts says in regards to that
Contract is probably lost in translation.

What did he say??
Posted a video that breached his contract and was misogynistic. He said it was the best thing he’s made
Not everyone just able to understand who Ilya really is.

They should've made these skates for Fabiola instead of Ilia. just my 2 cents...

He could use his talents more creatively if he tried harder and stopped aiming for the lowest fruit
I'm still a bit shaken tbh xD

The use of "Misogynistic" has been on an upward trend for the last 10 years, however if you remotely look into the etymology of the word, in recent years it is commonly being misappropriated to mean "anything a straight male does that can be viewed as negative involving a woman for any reason" instead of "someone (of any gender/sexually) viewing and treating women as lesser then men."
There are unfortunately still PLENTY of actual misogynistic events/views/rulings happening every day now, from politics, local and major government rulings and laws, etc.

This thing totally pissing me the most of the time when Im everywhere. community
In the I want say if you will like a whatever just take piece of chill pill and try to live and ride everything what you prefer not only skates :)
His skates will be like a Senate bag in 20 years. Buy some now.
now all of you who constantly crying about aggressive inline is not mainstream or successful and pros don't get enough money but you are hating on a guy who is reaching so many people with his funny videos..
so many of my friends who don't give a fuck about skating sending me his videos. you have to decide what you want.
also you highlighted someone commented 'cancel him' while i was reading in the comments majority of the people supported him.
The female owner of the brand in question has an extreme reaction? You don’t notice how inconsiderate and rude that sounds?
@@jaythreads I said extreme but not unwarrented in any sense.
On point
Im rocking his skate currently
Nice
The people in the comments complaining how people are too soft nowadays because you made this video don’t seem to understand irony
Hahaha exactly.
The people most vocally upset are the ones complaining it got taken down haha it’s like their world has caved in on itself because one tasteless video got pulled.
