It’s appropriate that the Chief Engineer of the 1st Enterprise NCC 1701, had a hand in designing the 5th (NCC 1701-E), and had visited the 2nd (1701-B - ST VII:Generations), and the 4th (1701-D, ST:TNG - the episode with the Dyson sphere). That makes NX-01 and NCC 1701-C the only ones he hadn’t stepped foot on. 🤠 Don’t mess with Scotty! 👍
Sometimes you just need an old war horse with decades of experience on a field he's a master of and being on the front lines. Scotty is that man and he's a legend in his own right.
If there’s one thing Scotty’s been doing since he was recovered, he’s been reading all of the 24th Century technical manuals he could, tearing apart his shuttle and putting it back together. An engineer’s mind never ceases to work. Who else is betting he had a few bottles of Saurian Brandy in the meanwhile? Or maybe some Chateau Picard~?
Damn man 😂 I was not paying any attention to the length of the video. I just saw sovereign class in the title and blindly assumed it was a long video. I see Montgomery Scott and get all excited and then you hit me with tune in next time. Then and only then did my Goofy ass look at the length of the video 🤦♂️ 😂😂😂 now I'm thinking like damn, a damn cliff hanger. Anyway my man this was a damn good video I'm looking forward to the conclusion. Well done 👍
I liked the way you edited Scotty (from the RELICS episode) talking to Admiral Quinn (from CONSPIRACY?) like they were actually sharing the scene. LOL!
I just had a thought when watching the animations of the Galaxy and Sovereign classes. About all the windows and crew quarters on the edge. They actually make a shocking amount of sense. They are part of the ablative hull design. If pressured up, they could even act in a similar fashion as Active Armor defense on contemporary armored vehicles.
I'm really liking the narrative that you created for the Sovereign class especially the U.S.S. Sovereign. I thought it was a nice touch to have Captain Montgomery Scott come out of retirement to fix all of this. You did a fantastic job with the mash up between Admiral Quinn and Scotty. I have a couple of questions and I'm hoping you could be able to answer. Why weren't the technologies that Admiral Janeway had brought back from the Delta quadrant via her future self like the transphasic torpedos and the deployable ablative armour able to be incorporated into the Sovereign class? Were any technologies pulled from Section 31?
Great video thank you(: Ive been watching DS9 lately and i wonder what difference a few of these Sovereign class vessels would have mead in the Dominion war? Also i wounde what effect it would have had if Sovereign instead of Oddesy had had the first encounter with the JemHadar?
It would not have gone any differently. Reason I say that is that while the sovereign had way stronger shields, the Dominion used phased polaron beams that at the time had 100% shield bleed through. So the Sovereign's new shields would not have worked here. Same thing happened to the Defiant on her first outing. As for weapons, true the Sovereign could fire a stronger beam, but some BS regarding not knowing how to make phasers damage the type of hull plating used on Jem Hadar ships meant that little to no damage would have been done. In the end, it would have gone the same, with the Jem Hadar doing a kamikaze run to destroy the Sovereign to, again, send the message of how far the Dominion would go to achieve victory. And Victory...is Life.
I feel like Captaib Calhoun would have been on her case for not getting his Galaxy Class Excalibur the same type of hull. Ijs. Also, we need more New Frontier novels and we need him and the crew to be cannon. Ijs
Wow.. GREAT VIDEO! I wanted to ask and Im sure you can't because of time. But can you do a history of the DOMINION WAR by tying in DS9? Im only ask. Greak job again. I sure you do this for a living. 🖖
I like the Sovereign class, and I believe that it a worthy successor to the Constitution class. Sleek, graceful, and quick, the Sovereign is like an interstellar shark. I do NOT like the Galaxy class, perhaps because of the way it was filmed; it always looked like the saucer section was tipping to one side and left me with the impression that it was an interstellar cruise liner.
I thought you said Leia of Endor for a decond. Lol I was going to comment and say. I see what you did there. But then I listened to it a se one time and realized it just sounded close to that.
I love the background for this ship! There’s another video about the Ross class that had similar background details but named for admiral William Ross (Siskos boss on ds9) that completely missed the mark. This video completely redeems the Ross class
Im glad you liked this video, BUT the Ross class was NOT named after William Ross but after Mary Golda Ross, the first known Native American female engineer, and the first female engineer in the history of Lockheed. memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Ross_class So before you go around making declarations of what is right or wrong, you might want to make sure you know what you're talking about! Take Care
In my Head Cannon I always so a special Division of StarFleet called The Borg Defense Force Which intended mission was to be Ready for another incursion of the Borg
Actually, Shelby of ALL people knows that these ships, though designed to fight the Borg, would also be in charge of defending against ANY threat to the Federation... Therefore, Beauty and Strength is just as important, as you can avoid a LOT of fights if visually a ship looks menacing and powerful!
This of course is getting in the head of your enemy before the fight even begins. This then defeats the need for the battle to happen. A strong agresive ship then intimates the enimy out of fight to seek easier targets. Take the defiant. Small but packing a serious punch of firepower to take on foes. A wing of these ships will be devastating to the targets. If any remains that is.
No, Im sorry but you're wrong... Aesthetics is a BIG part of any all things that humanity designs... If it weren't, things like cars, would simply be a box on wheels. Humans WANT beautiful designs. Besides Psychological warfare is just as important, if not more so, then actual warfare. If you can design something people WANT to talk to to, or are afraid to go up against, you can prevent a conflict from even being started. So no, aesthetics will continue to be a major part of any and all designs as it IS in Star Trek since it's conception, because it's logical and it's human.... Take care!
The Sovereign Class a return to the "Heavy Cruser" style Explorer that the Connie and the NX-2000 classes were. The Galaxy class was a peace time portable space station / super heavy cruser and having to remember to leave the civilians in the saucer with only impulse drive while the battle section is risking the warp drive in combat seems like a bad idea.
Epic mashup of Admiral Quinn and Scotty scenes to make them appear to have a conversation, that really gave it a great deal of depth.
Scotty was a genius and a maverick. He didnt hold the title of miracle worker for nothing.
I was listening to the narration and thought, "If Scotty can't do it, then it (probably) just can't be done." 😀

He had a direct influence on the design and development of the Enterprise refit.
Montgomery Scott: "Don't worry Commander Shelby. We will get the USS Sovereign launched even if I have to go outside and push."
Sometimes you just need an old war horse with decades of experience on a field he's a master of and being on the front lines.
Scotty is that man and he's a legend in his own right.
Scotty was an absolute legend, and the reason Starfleet engineers are so revered. The USS Sovereign was in good hands with him running the project.
I loved Scotty one of my favorite classic characters
Me too :)

Thank you, I'm pretty proud of that myself :)
I've enjoyed both the First and second of this video looking forward the third part thank you😊😊🤩
You’re welcome 😊
Love it, perhaps an animated version "short Trek" one day in the future showing this?
I love how you're weaving certain facts from some great Star Trek novels into this narration! Thanks!
Waited for this 😁
Amazing as usual. Greetings.
Glad you enjoyed it :) Thank you, and Greetings back :)

Oh, I love this and as such to cut it off at the point of Scotty joining the program...you, Sir, are a tease! :)
Without a doubt, the best distraction from my studies I could possibly hope for. Loved it, dude! :-)

You are very welcome!
This is awesome I cannot wait to see part 3!!!

The Sovereign Class is my favorite class. Part of my handle comes from that ship class.
Really great video!!!!
Wow Thank you very much for this nice Video. Like the very much
And thank YOU for your continued support!

"Can Captain Scott overcome..."
Yes. He can.
Heck this story would make an interesting drama
Do u have a starship breakdown of the luna class starship like the uss titan if u dont plz make it my fav fed ship!, plus great vid
This is awesome
Yes please!!!
Love it !

First lol great video
Legend! LOL :) Thank you :)
Sorry, Johnny, I was first. But I will step down for you
Sorry Fekalista, but John was actually first, you were second by a few seconds ;) :P
I like the inclusion of admiral Quinn
Brave little ship compared to Galaxy class refit.
How about doing beta canon on the USS Excalibur the Sovereign on steroids😜

You should skip the estetics element of a ship design.
A ship is designed around the tech it will house not a estetic design that got to fit the tech
