Idk about who the best dog is, but the best dog owner is hands down Eugene. He got rescues and makes sure they’re happy. Also, in the try guys switch pets for a day video, he took Bowie on a nice hike and was just super sweet with him. Eugene just seems super comfortable around all dogs and just lets the dogs have fun and be happy

A lot of dog owners overthink how they treat the dog, but unless you’re dog is particularly troublesome by nature, it’s really just about giving them love and making sure they’re healthy and happy. Simple as. Eugene is nailing it

So here’s the thing. Bowie and bean do need a little more training because they are big and high energy. If they let them do whatever they wanted they would tear up their houses. Pesto and Emma are really chill. I think they’re all equally great dog owners. They all handle their dogs needs as they should. 😊

I mean, I’ve grown up with dogs, and after a while, rules don’t matter that much. The only rules I have for my dog is sit before eating, don’t fight with other dogs, and don’t go under people’s legs.

Zawaaa i have a question, do u know how they mistreat the dogs at the stores? If u don’t know it’s totally fine, but I have a dog pet store near in my mall and I was curious on how they treat the dogs. (I am planning on adopting rescue dogs once I’m older)
@@vanessagarcia5259 Desirable breeds have a lot of issues. Sometimes the dogs are forced to breed until they can no longer breed or die. In addition, in pet stores there are many reports of dirty conditions, abuse and incorrect care. Good luck in your quest to adopt a dog!
Zawaaa but i think most purebred dogs aren’t from petstores, but from home-breeders who take very good care of their dogs. selling dogs in pet stores is illegal in many european countries, so we don’t really have a problem with that side of things.
Zawaaa wrong. While yes puppy mills are horrible and the dogs have issues most of the time it’s also wrong to say dogs or any pet from a shelter doesn’t have those. A lot of shelter dogs have issues. Some shelter dogs are from puppy mills (like you said) and will also have the exact same problems, some might be street dogs who also don’t have any social skills with other pets and humans. While it seems like shelters are the way to go when you want a dog (I thought that too) I now know that that isn’t a solve all solution and that a lot of dogs won’t be already trained. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t any. But if someone is getting a rescue they should know that they might deal with a dog with issues and if they can’t deal with that they’re better off getting a different dog from the shelter who already had a family. Or buying puppies and dogs isn’t as bad as it seems. While puppy mills should be avoided at all costs, of you’re buying from a responsible breeder than there shouldn’t be an issue.(and responsible also means socializing and not inbreeding dogs)

You can tell Eugene has had dogs in the past, Bowie is like a kid who grew up in a Catholic house so when he isn’t with his parents he misbehaves, Bean is just a doodle with so much energy, and Emma and Pesto are chill older dogs, but Zach is too neurotic with Bowie. Eugene has the best parenting philosophy, he has rules for them but overall he just lets them chill.

thank you, i am getting tired of everyone making Zach seem like a bad dog owner. Dogs require time and structure, dogs that are frantic, stressed and have no structure/training aren't really happy. He has an active, smart dog that he has managed to keep fit, happy and well-behaved, good job!
Yeah unfortunately people do not realise the extreme structure, boundaries and training that a working breed dog requires. Australian Shepherd’s are naturally super smart, energetic but also because of that can tend to easily pick up nuisance behaviours little excessive barking. Yes dog’s definitely bark every so often but nuisance barking like what the other dogs were doing in the video in the house is absolutely not something I’d consider appropriate or allow my own dog’s to ever do. Having a working breed dog is a huge responsibility and I’m honestly glad that Zack has seemed to take the breed seriously and actually put into place training and techniques to help Bowie live his best life and meet all his breed needs.
This is a good representation of clients in the veterinary community. Eugene is chill and going to be easy to work with. Ned would be fine too. Zach is a client that you know will walk in and think he knows more than you

As someone who raises dogs for a living I like Zach could improve on being better dog dad. Zach needs to relax a bit, Bowie’s a high energy dog who wants to play. Barking is completely natural and should only be scolded when it’s excessive.

I like zach's approach. He's playing up his character a bit but it's clear that he spends the most time with mind excercices for his dog. High energy dogs need this. I have no respect for people who can't bother to train their dogs, clearly know nothing about dog behaviour and are annoyed by someone educating them. Accept you can be wrong and watch some educational videos maybe
I agree on the idea of if you get a dog, be willing to put in the work to properly take care of them, including researching whatever breed you decide to get. What I don't like about Zach is he's soooo over the top. Like the way he doesn't want dogs who bark. Like my guy ... it's an ANIMAL. ALL dogs bark. I think Zach is too idealistic about Bowie, in my opinion, but I can respect that he really tries to do his best to keep Bowie entertained and stimulated since he's so high-energy. (Also tbh I get people who are annoyed "by someone educating them," because that person is often doing it in a super condescending way lol. But if you can do it respectfully without intruding into someone's time/space, do it.)

As several dog owners, I also take similar way with Eugene. I teach a couple of tricks, but other than that they just need to learn not to chew stuff, know some ground rules, and that's it.

Something worth noting is that the tension between Ned and Zach’s different parenting styles are being felt by their dogs. So these pups already don’t get along. Meanwhile Eugene’s doggos are more calm together because they already have each other in this scenario.
to be fair those dogs were raised together and live in the same house. They're also very used to being around other dogs, the others aren't often around eachother

Honestly. Each of their dog raising techniques are pretty well suited to their dogs. I don’t agree with Zach but I have a very chill low maintenance dog whereas he has a high energy working dog.
I also have a high energy working dog, another shepherd type like Bowie even. Doing THAT MUCH is really not necessary. I agree with the various kongs/'puzzle' food, but that's about it. Just give them a really good run every 2 or 3 days and a half hour of some sort of training every day, and they're fine. I think getting an active dog in such an urban area is a huge part of the problem, and Zach's uptight attitude is the rest of the problem.

I understand when dogs overly bark it can be pretty.. annoying and maybe even anxiety inducing for some people, but its a dog, they are gonna bark sometimes lol
I've trained dogs for my entire life (including service dogs) and I gotta say Zach is what I would advise new dog owners to train like. If a dog is busy and actively using their brains they're a lot happier and less likely to destroy your stuff. A+ to Zach! That being said all of the dogs are adorable and the best in their own ways. Keith gets an A for effort haha
Amen to this. I don't think many people understand that dogs need structure and training, especially working dogs like Bowie. They need mental and physical stimulation or else behavioral issues ensue. Then people wonder what's wrong with their dogs.

It seems to me that he just got lucky with getting an already well-behaved, even tempered dog and just decided that was entirely because of his training, thus making him automatically better than every other dog owner

Don't denigrate his ability to raise a puppy because you see minutes of content about him and think he's a great dog. They're dogs, not people, and an aussie is a very intelligent dog breed that will mop the floor with passive dog owners.

I meant more that Zach seems to have a very pretentious view of how he handles his dog compared to how anyone else handles any other dog. Like saying he prefers cats to dogs because 'there's a lot of shitty dogs out there'. He just seems to lack any sort of compassion or understanding of the concept that dogs are only as bad as their owner teaches them to be. I don't think he's ever had another dog, so if he got a really receptive, fast learning dog (which I know shepherd types can be because I have one) he might assume every dog is that easy to train and the owners are just stupid for not 'figuring it out' the way he did.

I actually like him the least all the time. He’s annoying. I just like Eugene because he’s not exaggerated and has a good appropriate amount of feeling for some thing without being annoying.
I find him a bit irritating sometimes, I do prefer the other three, but I don't think it would work without him. But yeah he's way over bearing about training, Eugene and Ned seem to have a more realistic way of caring for their dogs.
