My son has an electric company car. They were going to pay to have the charger plumbed in at his home when they were doing the grant to help install them. Then they stopped the grant and so his company said they weren't going to pay to have it fitted. He finishes at 5pm. Now they expect him finish work, then take it to the nearest charger (about 1.5 miles away) after work to charge it. I told him to tell them he is going to the charger at 3.30 as it takes 1.5 hours to charge it, so he is charging it in working time and not his time, or to pay him overtime. My car is a diesel and I get frustrated when there is a queue for the pump LOL.

So, you need to charge for three hours but you are only allowed to park for two. Do you get a parking charge? I would refuse to pay it but as I will never own a milk float car it will never happen to me! A full tank of fuel will get me anywhere in England from where I live with plenty left over. Range anxiety? what's that?
my claim is that people buy electric cars to be "accepted in the pack", and to impress colleagues and the neighbours. fortunately, I personally have no such needs, and just bought a simple 2014 Honda Civic with a petrol engine. I get around without impressing the neighbor, and without spending half my salary to pay the electric car loan.
Hi from Alaska. We enjoy your channel big time. Born Chester England but over here forever, we are looking forward to getting back to the UK and drive around. Watchiing your road trips helps us get accoustom to driving over there when we "cold turkey" get there and rent a car. Other trhan the Bahamas, have not driven on your side of the road "on purpose" for your laughter. Watching you drive around hopefully helps us driving when we get to the UK. About 2 years go I turned you onto My Mom (she in her 90's) so she could enjoy the UK via your travels. She grew up in UK. She passed last fall and we never made it to the UK with her. Thanks for all your content. The EV's in Alaska are rare. WE live on a boat in Alaska, there is no way to charge a EV when living in a Marina setting. As for Global Warming/Climate change..we have no problem if things warm up a bit here in Alaska. If we had a EV in Alaska, we'd need it to be AWD or 4X4, and tow a diesel geneator around behind for charging. Oh', and we have no issues with sea level rising, you know how we do much of our travel with our boat, just means more places to go boating and more places for fish to swim. So far, living 50 plus years on the water, no difference in water depth that we can detect.
I went to grassmere on a coach trip (day trip) a couple of years ago for Father's Day. With my family And I went into a fish shop saying. Can I have 5 bags of chips? The girl said yes, no problem. £24 , please. I walked out in disgust. I understand they have got to make a profit but f*** me. That is just taking the p*** I went to the local convenience store over the road. And got a prepacked sandwich , pop (drink). And crisps, and it only come to £15 for the 5 of us 🤔 🏴 .
I'm a Brit, living in the US. I recently started watching your videos. You've convinced me, never to purchase any electric vehicles. My concern is, I'm 80, I don't have enough time left, to potter around, waiting, to charge my car. I can't believe any Americans, with their long trip driving, and their natural genetic need, to HURRY, will give electric cars the time they need to wait for charging, and the really poor mileage they can travel. I do drive, I just purchased a Toyota 4runner, old school, 6 cylinder petrol engine, suits me fine. Cheers. 👍😁
The evangelists, like the ostrich, bury their heads in the sand. Do you know that this bird's eye is bigger than its brain... Fun fact... Very controversial but true.
I've only ever managed to convince my wife, a West-country girl, to holiday in the Lake district on two occasions - and it chucked it down continually on both of them! By the end of the last holiday she threatened me, "If I ever see another bloody cagoule I'll swing for somebody - probably you!" Discretion being the better part of valour, I've never had the nerve to suggest the Lakes again.
When I was young the climate bogeyman was another ice age. Apparently this was the warmest march ever , even though we had 6 inches of snow one day WTF ?
Great point with electric cars and ICE cars were first made (around the same time). They were both being tried and worked out at the same time, WITH NO SUBSIDIES OR BS. The verdict then was ICE cars had flourished with a few horse and carts still being used. If EV lovers want to "save" the planet then back to horse and cart would be a better way :)
Miserable weather in the UK! But I’m experiencing the same thing in Chicago. Nothing but cold rain for weeks but summer is coming in a few days. I have an e bike which I thoroughly enjoy because it’s only used for recreation. Actually it’s a hybrid vehicle because I am the primary motor and the electric motor is the assistant. No range anxiety, just fun!😅
You are spot on as per usual Lee. I think some kids are far too young to be drinking cups of coffee while waiting hours for Mummy's and Duddy's 💩💩💩💩💩 box to charge. 😮😮😮😮😮
Isn´t coffee expensive in the UK. Here in Slovenia it cost around €1.2 to €1.5. An eyewatering £46 for your charge top up? I make that equal to cost of 34 gallons of diesel at the current pump price, again, here in Slovenia. My old Discovery Series 2 tank only held 21 gallons but still sufficient to drive round most of the NC 500, long before it was known as that and full of motorhomes, and still get back to Fort William for a refill. Rip off Britain or what?
All car parks and EV chargers should be available by card payments not just an App on your phone, there are still many elderly people that dont have smartphones or dont know how to download and use Apps. As for charging for public toilets, then i don't have a problem with that.. it goes towards paying people to keep them clean after messy idiots have left them in disgusting mess and for the maintenance of them.
Watched a CarWow video the other day where the guy bought a 13 plate Nissan Leaf for £1500. That only had 56 miles of range on a full charge and its battery had lost 25% over 11 years. Imagine trying to do a long journey in that!!! 🙈
We had one in 2015. Public charging was free then so one evening I thought I'd go and get some free juice. Nearest rapid charger was about 10 miles away. I got there, non functioning. Up to the next junction and come back to the one on the other side. That one was "working" but no comms to authenticate the RFID card. On the way home, the range went to "- - -" remaining. That was the end of ever trying that again. Great for around the city and to my parents where there was a charge point but never would I have tried a road trip behind single leg range. The other issue with the Leaf or similar ~100 mile range car is that if there's an assumption that a charger might be faulty and there's approx 20 miles between services, I'd want no less than 20% left. Then charging to 80% of the charge curve means the need to stop is every 60 miles or so and that's too inconvenient. I did once meet a woman at chargers on the M5 who was on a trip and I commented that I thought she was rather brave doing that with children in the car too.
I think the cameras are live vidio on line cams. Probably so when you can only stay within a. 15 miles radius of your home. You can visit scenic place. From your lap top.
Thank you Lee, for the drive around the lakes district, it is a wonderful part of the world, i have toured around it twice during my trips to the UK 👍 Au

Difference is you need a team of miners to mine enough for one EV battery per day, whereas a single little kid can mine enough lithium for 1000 phone batteries per day.

@@AndrewKeyz there is no cobalt in Lithium Ion batteries used in modern EVs. Biggest market for colbalt is removing sulphur from petrol and diesel during production. Suddenly you don’t feel so smug eh?
Imagine if electric cars were invented first, then someone invented the ice car. It weighs a lot less, goes further on a charge of fuel, charges in a tenth of the time. Imagine how much we would rave about them.
Imagine the infrastructure needed to produce petroleum/diesel and build thousand of filling stations. Plus mixing petrol and electrics and heat. All of those fires and toxic fumes. No I don’t think it would catch on.
That in fact was what happened at the start of automobiles - battery cars were developed and put on the market just as ICE vehicles were beginning. Within a year or two, electric cars were discontinued. Jay Leno's garage did an article on that and has one of the earliest EV town cars.
Great Vlog Lee, we were in Chester for the week so would have missed you or I could have put you up and given you parking. Andy at Kingfisher said you were hoping to come back up (I won't give the game away just incase it's a secret). We're always here if you want somewhere as a base and be great to go for a pint.
There's no way I'd consider an electric car with all that faf cost and depreciation, petrol for me all day long fill up NW England drive to Cornwall no issues.
Before retiring, my job covered the bottom half of the Lake district, so I know those roads very well! Unless they've been changed, the 50p toilets at Glebe road, Bowness, could be accessed free by leaning over and puting your hand in front of the IR sensor! Plenty of oilets nearby though, Costa just up the road. I think those cameras are either montoring traffic or watching for EV drivers who pee in the lake.

I fill my diesel golf and drive from near Doncaster to Edinburgh and back on one tank . Plus small runs whilst up there. Electric better my arse.enjoying the videos.
Too much energy today, current price 0p, flowered by negative pricing. Getting paid again to charge the car and waste as much electricity as possible. Prediction for tomorrow is -5p/kWh.
So true People don't realise that the bulk of energy supply is petroleum and when the leftard MSM report on energy usage they only mention electricity which is such a small part of the total. I estimate that the grid will have to up its output 900% to meet net zero if the desire is that everyone exchanges their ICE's for EV's but the globalist led political class know this is not going to happen and the real objective is that over 90% of vehicle ownership will disappear , thus less strain on the grid which will have to supply all heating, cooking and lighting in homes by 2035 thus skyrocketing electric prices
You are correct, our spare capacity in winter is only 4% it was 15% in 2011 but we have mothballed/closed several power. 4% equates to about 3.5 Gigawatt enough to charge 500,000 Evs at 7 KW on home chargers not withstanding fast chargers and growing demand on the grid. There are 34 million cars in the UK plus buses and lorries and bikes!!
Hi, have you ever thought about towing or having a large portable generator in the boot of the car to do all the recharges? There’s a number of good Mobile portable petrol/diesel charges available in the market with a high output. It will be far cheaper to use a generator instead of plugging into one of those PowerPoint in the UK. PS, sorry if my grammar is not correct as I have a severe traumatic Brain Injury .
What was the earth’s temperatures prior to the mini ice age. The NASA Earth Observatory notes three particularly cold intervals. One began about 1650, another about 1770, and the last in 1850, all of which were separated by intervals of slight warming. Temperature has only risen 1 degree centigrade since the mid 19th century. That would seem normal. There is no alarm or panic. The temperature points around the world changed locations several times with only few points in the southern hemisphere. If you won’t reliably and repeatability then the locations must be the same. In fact the first three reports from the IPCC said there were no significant issues. The are many Professors who would dispute the now highly politicised IPCC. Here just a few who would debate any alarm or dramatic change in our climate.: Professor Giaever Professor Judith Curry Professor Ian Plimer Professor Willie Soon Professor William Happer Dr Patrick Moore ( Green peace founder) John Coleman Meteorologist (founder the weather channel) There are literally thousands of scientists who would disagree with the current narrative on climate.
While I sit here in a tropical paradise with no con trails and bright sunshine, I am still enjoying the views and sounds of the English countryside, and glad it's you getting soaked and not me.

When the UK government has us all using public transportation then they have us by the short and curlies train prices are far too expensive and go up every year it's cheaper for me to fly to Spain than get a train from London to Leeds
If you wanted to go to Leeds, why would you fly to Spain?
That’s odd behaviour.
They say sarcasm is the highest form of intelligence and the lowest form of wit but this is a funny reallity show. Feed the UT what it wants. Onwards Lee. 😂😊
Only just noticed the instavolt logo..... "WHAT NO INTELLIGENCE..?".......it's a Chad!...😂
my claim is that people buy electric cars to be "accepted in the pack", and to impress colleagues and the neighbours. fortunately, I personally have no such needs, and just bought a simple 2014 Honda Civic with a petrol engine. I get around without impressing the neighbor, and without spending half my salary to pay the electric car loan.
I've got a new Civic with the hybrid thing. Goes like stink but no plug holes required. Takes old fashioned 'gasoline' only!
I went to grassmere on a coach trip (day trip)
a couple of years ago for Father's Day. With my family
And I went into a fish shop
saying.
Lee so funny and on it tonight. Loved it.
When I was young the climate bogeyman was another ice age. Apparently this was the warmest march ever , even though we had 6 inches of snow one day WTF ?
It's always warmer when it rains in winter/spring/Autumn, that's why they gave us so much of it.
How would I get to the lake district from London without using a public charger? over to Morag
Stop at the Tesla superchargers in Stoke. 49p kWh. There’s plenty and rarely busy.
"Plan for your trip!"
Lee's on the wind up again 😂
He always has been, but we love it 😂
@@andysmith8462 quite funny but some people believe all his hamming it up
Not as cheap as they make out, is it Sorry, I will stay with my diesel car Not wasting time for the car to charge.
11:15 Not only do you have to pay, but you have to pay by contactless.
remember the grange hill story line with Zamo and the anti drugs advert - just say no - we need that for the electric cars lol
Bring back Gripper Stebson.
Lol British weather worst its been 6 months of shit weather and no guarantee of spring or summer
15:57 That design of ANPR camera is usually used for parking enforcement by companies such as Parking Control Management (UK) Ltd.
Beautiful big trees. Lake District is gorgeous, even in bad weather ❤
Life's too short to be stuck around waiting for a car to be charged for 3 hrs what a joke
You are spot on as per usual Lee. I think some kids are far too young to be drinking cups of coffee while waiting hours for Mummy's and Duddy's 💩💩💩💩💩 box to charge. 😮😮😮😮😮
Fantastic Video. Well Done.
Well done on speaking the truth.
Great video Lee,.Loved the scenery, weather sucked but content excellent!
I went on vacation to the Lake District once, it rained every day so we stayed in the hotel ana read books...
bet you read up all of Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit
of cause 54minutes of dedication in the rain deserves a thumbs up so thumbs up
Glad you survived the day of global boiling lee.
I really enjoyed that drive out around the Lake District in Autumn, thank you.👍
i just swapped my petrol jag xj v8 for the 3.0 ltr Diesel XJ… my eyes literally lit up after i tanked up and it showed 1000km range!! (650 miles)
Oh and yes Sarah Nelson invented Grasmere Gingerbread in 1854 in a tiny shop which is still in use today, its a local delicacy.
You need to get a new number plate EV55UCK
That's a good one
Not planning your journey & time better sucks eg why not have something to eat in Booths. I did at Kendal whilst at a slower cheaper charger (48p per kWh) & booked a boat trip on Lake Coniston where there was also a slower but cheaper charger (50p per kWh)
@@stephenbagwell8275*So you stephen bagwell, go buying food to eat every time whilst waiting for it to charge all the time. I bet you're huge in size, aren't you!? Booths? Isn't that a cheap supermarket like Aldis!? What do you eat there, fried breakfasts!? Why don't you charge your Evee at home, so you don't have to keep going to sit & eat food in Booths!?*
For one disturbing moment when you lifted the brolly in the air, I thought you were going to break into I'm singing in the rain song and dance routine..... phew!❤
He's a Master of making a mountain out of a molehill. Also, remember he drives a Porche which has the range of a fruit fly...
An African or European fruit fly?
I cant believe you still have "Pay Toilets" in the UK. We saw those go away after the 80's. Yikes! Get a large mouth Gatorade plastic bottle and you can "wee" on the route, works great.
Milk Float off, tickle,s me every time that Lee 😂
The government know full well that electric isn't the way forward 🙄 if they thought it was they would sort the infrastructure out.
We have a conservative government. It doesn’t work like that. You’re confusing it with socialism.
£46!!! For about 100 miles of range?....at least Dick Turpin wore a mask.....😂
About the same as a Range Rover on petrol. But if you charge at home it’s probably more like £10.
@@jsanders100You have an Evee, how much does it cost to charge yours at home!? Do you charge it whilst sleeping!? I hope you don't mind if your whole house goes up in flames!?
*Username jsanders in here, is always trolling Lees channel. She has an Evee, btw. She's always moody, I bet she's fed up with waiting for it to charge & it keep going wrong!?🤣*
As a side note they’re also digging up the cobalt and lithium for your computer and phone batteries😅
Difference is you need a team of miners to mine enough for one EV battery per day, whereas a single little kid can mine enough lithium for 1000 phone batteries per day.
All these battery’s and costs for India just to burn coal and have a predicted population of 1.6billion in 50 years, drop in the ocean springs to mind!
@@AndrewKeyz But he won't address that situation, because it won't get him youtube views, and he likes his apple rubbish.
@@AndrewKeyz
FFS stop with the kids mining lithium trope.
You just advertise your ignorance to the world when you do that!😂
Lee will be embarrassed that this nonsense gets posted on his channel.
You'll be put on his naughty list if you are not careful!😂
@@AndrewKeyz there is no cobalt in Lithium Ion batteries used in modern EVs.
Biggest market for colbalt is removing sulphur from petrol and diesel during production.
Suddenly you don’t feel so smug eh?
I’ve got some body bags for those swans if you want some 😃 thanks for the content passing the time whilst I’m unwell 😉👍 🍻
You know you are in a gorgeous environment when it looks stunningly beautiful even in the rain ❤
Here I sit all broken-hearted
Paid 50p and only farted!
Great video. You need to click those Ruby slippers together when making that wish at the end🧚♂️.Theres no engine like a combustion engine, theres no engine like a combustion engine........😅😅😅😅
I think summer fell on a Wednesday last year in Cumbria 🤔
I fill my diesel golf and drive from near Doncaster to Edinburgh and back on one tank . Plus small runs whilst up there. Electric better my arse.enjoying the videos.
I wouldn't worry about the charging infrastructure, we cant even generate the electric to run them at full power anyway.
Too much energy today, current price 0p, flowered by negative pricing. Getting paid again to charge the car and waste as much electricity as possible. Prediction for tomorrow is -5p/kWh.
Wrong
Here just a few who would debate any alarm or dramatic change in our climate.:
Professor Giaever
Professor Judith Curry
Professor Ian Plimer
Professor Willie Soon
Professor William Happer
Dr Patrick Moore ( Green peace founder)
John Coleman Meteorologist (founder the weather channel)
There are literally thousands of scientists who would disagree with the current narrative on climate.
While I sit here in a tropical paradise with no con trails and bright sunshine, I am still enjoying the views and sounds of the English countryside, and glad it's you getting soaked and not me.
LOL Haemorrhoid seat cushions now come as standard equipment in all EVs
You are a very brave man to drive in the rain.(using wipers. lights and interior van).Hope you have your range anxiety medication with you!!
