  • Our Employment Headstart Program helps and encourages people with spinal cord injuries to get back to work when they feel ready. The ‘Back on Track with My Career’ Series details the journeys of eight people who have suffered a spinal cord injury and how they have found satisfying and fulfilling careers. For the past nine years, Johanna has taught kindergarten and grade one. She believes that working is as important to the quality of life as breathing.

Johanna, you have no idea how this video has really inspired! You made me realize that I am taking my life and body for granted. Us able bodied people forget what we have and we focus on the material things in life that we cannot obtain and become sad about it and even some of the other events in life such as a broken down car or a relationship beak up. I now feel that your video changed me life and that my dreams are possible. Thanks, Love you and God Bless all the way from Texas!

Bummer that we haven't yet figured out how to repair "hosed" spinal cords. Hopefully some day soon!
