Hi Melanie, are your recommendations for using heat/cold only suitable for lower back pain? If so, why? Thank you so much for your Videos, i love them!
When you have back pain from exercise or exertion, use cold therapy immediately after the activity to reduce tissue damage, inflammation, and pain as it is an acute case and you can't use heat for an inflammation but if it is chronic use heat such as hot packs as it causes vasodilatation and promote tissue healing
@@Pathologyformedicalstudents thank you for the summary, but that was not the question. I wanted to know why you are only talking about pain in the lower back. Is this transferable to other regions of the body? Is there any reason why you are specifically mentioning the lower back pain?
@@jorakete7038 May be because that heat is done to a localized area and lower back pain is the common complain of all people and general term used and if you mean referred pain to buttocks or legs it is due to pinched nerves which compress nerves so it needs other types of techniques like traction and manipulation TENS electrotherapy for pain aiming to centralize the referred pain from the back due to herniation or bulge for example

Hi, no these rules applies to any injuries :) but it’s most commonly mix up with lower back pain.
