This is one of the best computer games I have ever come across in my life - 20 years on and it feels like yesterday for me - the intro music and this music being played is the best - man on a mission.
Most movie tie-ins were a let down but this was one of the few that was addictive. I remember the cheat - type in JAM on the title screen and keep pressing M until the screen goes upside down!
My friend got the Amiga 500 Flight Of Fantasy pack at christmas 1990. He got the hollywood collection and Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge as extra christmas presents. Needless to say we never left his room until it was time to go back to school. These days i have a mint flight of fantasy A500 pack, the hollywood collection and all the lotus games plus many other amigas and games. I still play this one to death, one of my favourite games ever. Superb!!!
Ahh... A classic! Second game I ever played. Batman Pack FTW. Never got past the second level, I never got used to the batmobile grappling hook. Hardly ever got past the first, I'd get all nervous the longer it went on. Great to see it again. Can't believe that 1st level only took 5 minutes! Felt like years when I used to play it. Congrats on beating it with one life! I have to get an emulator now.
Man alive! I love this game! I used to play this with my Dad and Sister when I was around 10 yrs old. And yes, the music is the balls :) It's great to see that so many other people loved this game too. hahahahaha.... Bliss!
I used to joke about batman's hand positioning, and how he swung from his bat-wang. Also the batwang could be used to knock enemies off screen as well, I missed this game, thanks for playing and posting.
Ahh yes. This damn game bring back some solid memories of ones youth eh. The graphics and sound were top notch for the time ^_^ . But boy was it a hard game or what!
I Loved that game too. We used to pla it my older brother and me, i was 8 years or so. We never did it then. Now i play it on emulator, brings back so many memories and feelings. By now im really good at it, perhaps i should record it tooo and load it up here :)
16 years since I last played it, but I still know the Axis Chemical Factory off by heart! Could complete every level without JAMMMM except the Batmobile one :(
Who remembers when this came out and they said the incoming conversion of Chase HQ was going to have the same driving engine, instead turned out a yucky slow-as-hell ST port? :(
How do you put vids longer than 10mins on YT? I remember thinking Amiga graphics were awsome after changing from the C64, but looking back now they are nothing compared with todays machines, lol! you have to appreciate how much programming went into them those years ago...
@TheViper77wsb maybe that was just Italy then as in uk was a different story yea they werent cheap but i wouldnt say they were unaffordable in uk i think they were bout 500 pounds the Amiga500 not the 1st one in 85
I remember seeing an Amiga running this game in a shop window (think it was dixons or something) and it was like £400 with this game and I remember looking at it as you would a PS3 or 360 today! and me grabbing my dad and telling him to look how amazing it looks! haha Sweet memories!
i used to play this for a couple of hours every day! I got to the point where i could complete it most of the time. although if you didnt hit the joker on the helicopter on the last level - that was it game over. damn.
I've tried the Amiga version a couple of times; it's much harder than the C64, which I could finish. I had hard time getting through the first level on the Amiga.
@mikekaraoke Well I'm from Italy... You are right Amiga 500 was already available a few years ago 1989.... But it was very very expensive... So Commodore 64 was the most sold at the time... Towards 1989 Amiga's price turn lower and people began to buy it... in my city I was one of the first AmigaChild..... =)
Yesterday I plugged my A1200 to a LCD TV for the first time and... it works! But time has not been kind to these games. Tried Hired Guns, Shadow of the Beast and Alien Breed and they haven't aged well. Sadly Batman and Paradroid 90 are not working.
Oops, should have said... does anyone have a working ROM of this game? I have a couple but ti always crashes after the first level. I wanna hear the cathedral music again!
@TheViper77wsb yea cool 80s game, how comes u didnt get one before 89 then as they first came out in 85, and amiga 500 in 87, my cousin got the amiga500 in 87 and my dad got amiga in 85 the first 32 bit computer
First game I ever finished ( without cheats) was aged 7/8. Took almost a year, man I had patience back then T_T Made me into the hardcore player I am today :D
@cubex55 - Oh I see, you must get asked that alot then, lol, Its a damn shame coz I joined in 2006 so I coulda done it then, I'm guessing by the way you answered that it is not possible for me to change it now and have the same powers as yourself? Thanks...
Awesome game. Somewhat crappy ending, but you can't really ask for much of one after seeing The Joker plummet for a full 10 seconds! That was always enough for me as a kid!
I could never complete any level apart from the Bat Cave. I had to use the infinite lived and skip level cheat. That took the play out of the game. Infinite energy and time would have solved three of the levels. With the cheat all the pictures at the end were upside down. I'd never seen to movie then so the game didn't mean too much.
JAMMMMM that was a cheat for all levels or infinite health i think. im 27 now and i still remember that cheat LOL one of the best movie to game conversions to this day in my opinion.
This game raped me when I was a kid and it continues to do so. Mine's on a VGA DOS. Batmobile level sucks and it doesn't 'flow', y'know? You hit cars no matter how far you are from them.
still mind when I had this. It was an illegal copy and the guy that gave me it fucked about with the life bar so instead of joker it was a fucked up skull thing. I still mind it gave me chills.
I remember I had this on the Hollywood Collection for the Atari ST with Last crusade Robocop and Ghostbusters 2. Some of the best games at the time i think- maybe. I used to have more patience. These old amiga games are so clunky compared to nintendo stuff at the same time even. Don't you just want to break out Mario after seeing this geriatric Batman.
The goon in green with the long hair at Axis is Bob the Goon, awesome! Love that sequence, "Jack is dead, the Joker lives"
This is one of the best computer games I have ever come across in my life - 20 years on and it feels like yesterday for me - the intro music and this music being played is the best - man on a mission.

probably one of the best "games of a movie" ever made - leaps and bounds ahead of it's time.
i loved it.
jesus this brings me back, i still remember the cheat, jammmmmm. so great.
Ahh... A classic! Second game I ever played. Batman Pack FTW.
Never got past the second level, I never got used to the batmobile grappling hook. Hardly ever got past the first, I'd get all nervous the longer it went on. Great to see it again. It's great to see that so many other people loved this game too. hahahahaha.... Bliss!
This game wasn't even my childhood, it was my infancy lol
I remember playing this before I even started school, loved the heck out of it.
This brought back many good memories of my youth, thanks for making the video.
My first ever Amiga game. Loved it so much. Thanks for posting it!
This was my first Amiga's game..... Just one word.... FANTASTIC......
The best game on Amiga 500. Oh....the Batman frenzy when the movie and game came out. Oh god....the memories.
Holds up well after all these years.
I was really bad at this!!
Thank you for showing me what level 5 looked like.
feels like xmas day 1989 again! great memories of this game and the amiga
I love how instead of just reusing the "climb up" sprite, everyone in the cathedral level for some reason *walks* down ladders as if they're stairs.
I used to joke about batman's hand positioning, and how he swung from his bat-wang. Also the batwang could be used to knock enemies off screen as well, I missed this game, thanks for playing and posting.
The patience I must have had when I was younger amazes me, I remember the best thing was taking the goons out with the bat grapple.
Ahh yes. This damn game bring back some solid memories of ones youth eh. The graphics and sound were top notch for the time ^_^ . But boy was it a hard game or what!
The jokers face that appears when you loose energy looks like somthing from The Thing. Also the joker looks so funny as hes falling at the end.
Could complete every level without JAMMMM except the Batmobile one :(
impressive for the day. First game I played on the amiga, the bar was always set high but the amiga delivered!
I remember playing this on my mate's Amiga and never being able to do the Smilex combo bit.
Damn you Ocean.
I had this game when I was a kid. I remember it was very exciting...
WOW! This was one of the very first games I ever played on my Amiga :)
My first was Bionic command.
I had mine for Christmas that year as well, and had this game and The New Zealand story with it.
God I remember this so well !!! I also remember the graphics being amazing on the car stage... how times change :)
How they do change :D
Fantastic video -- brought me back to my childhood. I can assume that you used an emulator to record this video?
First 16bit game I played and completed. The Batmobile and Batwing sections were really well done I tought
The car and flying thing stages are great!
I see weve come a long way with games like Arkham Asylum
@TheViper77wsb maybe that was just Italy then as in uk was a different story yea they werent cheap but i wouldnt say they were unaffordable in uk i think they were bout 500 pounds the Amiga500 not the 1st one in 85
Wicked! It is one of my favourite game on the Amiga.
I remember seeing an Amiga running this game in a shop window (think it was dixons or something) and it was like £400 with this game and I remember looking at it as you would a PS3 or 360 today! and me grabbing my dad and telling him to look how amazing it looks! haha Sweet memories!
Iremember this game too. the final level is knocking the joker off the copter. You push you button once for your batwire and it's over!
I played this game to death as a kid, but its only just occured to me that the platformy bits are essentially just a clone of Bionic Commando.
I think this is the channels first ever Longplay back when this channel was called Cubex55
i loved playing the batmobile part but didnt know what to do, fun game
Does anyone remember the code you punched in at the title screen?
It turns the screen upside down and warps you directly to the final level.
i remember playing this game. me and my 2 brothers striggled getting through the first two levels. Damn it was hard!
It's a nice touch that one of the goons looks like Bob from the movie.
Huh, I guess I now know where the Sega CD driving sequences in Batman Returns got its inspiration.
i used to play this for a couple of hours every day! I got to the point where i could complete it most of the time. although if you didnt hit the joker on the helicopter on the last level - that was it game over. damn.
I really like this game, but there is very little time to finish stages 2 and 4.
I've tried the Amiga version a couple of times; it's much harder than the C64, which I could finish. I had hard time getting through the first level on the Amiga.
JAMMMM: I still remember the cheat code.
21:48 hey joker please don't smile while dying, the people want to see a dramatic death
Just listened to the C64 version... and in no way does it have better music than this.!!
I remember this game taking "years" to load on the amiga.
As you can see from this video and what i remember from the past is that this is one fucking hard game!
Yesterday I plugged my A1200 to a LCD TV for the first time and... it works! But time has not been kind to these games. Tried Hired Guns, Shadow of the Beast and Alien Breed and they haven't aged well. Sadly Batman and Paradroid 90 are not working.
I never made it past the minigame (code?) after the driving stage. What an half assed ending
The End for the time being? The Joker fell down like 100 feet and made a nice big splat. He ain't coming back XD
i still remember the cheats for this game. jammmmmmmmmmm at the title screen. never was able to get to the last level though. my disk wouldnt load it
I remember that if you didn't hit the joker with your ropey thing at the end he just flew off and you were left standing on the roof like a lemon.
@iainhead how comes u didnt get it in 89? wen pack came out
I don't understand the smilex analysis part. What do you do?
....back in the day when you could clock a game in 20 minutes and NOT be seriously pissed off!
This looks good but the music on the spectrum version was better. Including the sounds of the batrope and batarangs.
This game rocks so much.
Oops, should have said... does anyone have a working ROM of this game? I have a couple but ti always crashes after the first level. I wanna hear the cathedral music again!
I always thought the joker falling off the building was a classic ending!
i like the soundtrack of the first level.
@TheViper77wsb yea cool 80s game, how comes u didnt get one before 89 then as they first came out in 85, and amiga 500 in 87, my cousin got the amiga500 in 87 and my dad got amiga in 85 the first 32 bit computer
wow, that had to be the longest fall in video game history
First game I ever finished ( without cheats) was aged 7/8. Took almost a year, man I had patience back then T_T
Made me into the hardcore player I am today :D
@cubex55 - Oh I see, you must get asked that alot then, lol,
Its a damn shame coz I joined in 2006 so I coulda done it then, I'm guessing by the way you answered that it is not possible for me to change it now and have the same powers as yourself?
Thanks...

@brewt1mer how comes u didnt get it in 87?
DAT KEETON FACE THO
hehe brilliant - brings back a lot of memories
Yeah, I remember ths game. It was awesome.
@gmonsterlovesoats
oh yes...! - The only way for me to see the end of this game... ;D
No intro?
The A500 is stll very much alive and well in my house - good games never date...
great game completed it many times
lol, did you use the JAMMMM code?
I had the spectrum and amiga version, i think the spectrum version is a little easier though. I could never get passed those damn rats
@mikekaraoke damn iain, my dad got first Amiga in 85, then i got one for my birthday the amiga 500 in 87 :-]
Why are all the Amiga games SO HARD TO PLAY??
JAMMMMM that was a cheat for all levels or infinite health i think. im 27 now and i still remember that cheat LOL one of the best movie to game conversions to this day in my opinion.
JAMMMMM!
A game not too long or too hard, I did not know this game and I really like it but I do not have a game I'd play.
Thank you. :)
nice playing
This game raped me when I was a kid and it continues to do so.
Mine's on a VGA DOS.
Batmobile level sucks and it doesn't 'flow', y'know? You hit cars no matter how far you are from them.
It couldve ended with the Joker doing his last laugh.
arrr ur so lucky man, i had one years ago an i really wish i could have one in good condition :(
WHY THERE AREN'T BATTLE VS JOKER???!!!!!!!!!
mega NAIROD Was that in the movie? Joker was felll and died. Maybe in NES there was happy bossfight without any blood and violence :)
Wow! I don't even know what to say. Watching this game...
Seriously, this feels like if the Atari 2600 had better controls.
still mind when I had this.
I remember that it was very hard to aim to Joker. :)
I cant help it, those sound effects in this game sound like somebody did them with their mouth lol
