I dont understand, last year the top 6 was awful as well and going into this summer the front office added a second line center for most teams while letting a guy like DeBrusk walk who we are really missing right now (Speedy, responsible defensively, has a goal scoring touch). They even had options at cheaper price points to add (Marchessault, Duclair, Sprong) but they decided to sign Zadorov? Defense wasnt the issue, the lack of scoring was. For what it's worth Debrusk did absolutely nothing last year until December after called out for the 800th time in his career. But your point is still quite valid. Terravainen makes basically the same as Zadarov. He's got a point a game right now. Also, we can't underestimate the loss off Heinen.
My greatest fear is becoming a middle of the pack bubble team where you clearly aren't good enough to win a cup, but you're not bad enough to sell and get good prospects. I think this management group will be too competitive to admit they're stuck in that spot if it ends up happening, and we could end up being stuck there for a while. In my opinion, our defence is incredibly strong on paper and I trust them to figure it out eventually. We have the elite goaltender you can win with. But up front, we have Pastrnak and a slew of middle 6 forwards. We're missing an elite 1C (someone like Eichel, Barkov, Point, etc), a top line LW, and a second line RW. That sounds harsh, but if you look at the teams that make it to the final 4 every year, they are almost always extremely deep. The cup winners are usually "holy shit how can they afford all those guys that's insane" levels of deep. That's the bar you have to reach.
I think you have to give Potsy a shot at the top line between Pasta and Marchand. Give him a game or two and see how he does. It can’t be worse than what they’ve been doing. Waive Jones and Tufte.

Yo low qual. I love you man! Here’s my thing with this team. I don’t think a big heavy team is really Monty’s system. More like fast playmaker types which is great for the regular season but gets creamed post season. So Monty is??? Maybe??? Trying to figure it out too. But let’s just apply the KISS principle. Get the puck up and out of the D zone. Keep pucks to the outside. Chip! puck!deep! use the size to beat up the opposing D men get it low to high and get shots and bodies to the net. We got a line up of thumpers trying to be playmakers. They can’t be. Love what you said about the D pairs. I’d go Mac-Lorhei. Lindholm - Z. Carlo - Peeke. Save some minutes for Carlo on the PK. And the next guy who makes a blind backhand pass to the middle of the ice I’d cut. Not with a knife but…well maybe. Go B’s GO B’S!
I like this take. The KISS principle defines the 4th line and their success. Let the more talented top 6 try it and see where it goes. I liked seeing Brazeau in front of the net. we need more of that.
Good analysis. B's have been good for a long time, maybe it time to go bottom five for a couple years and get some high draft picks, trade off UFA's at the deadline for more picks. Worst thing that could happen is to be in the middling middle. Having said that, beat the leafs on Sat.
I agree with your defensive points, you need to have a mobile guy paired with more of a defensive defenseman. Zadorov-Mac Carlo-Lindholm Lohrei-Peeke That should be your defense and keep it that way. Give Mac, Lindholm, and Lohrei the freedom to play the offensive way that they thrive in. You got Zadorov to play next to Mac, so play him there even if he doesn’t look great at times. Lohrei is your future, so play him even if he doesn’t look great at times. Similar to your point about Potsy, if we’re gonna stink right now then at least let the young guys play, make mistakes, learn, and develop. Offensively keep Potsy in the top 6, please give him more shifts with Pasta because they look great together. I honestly didn’t hate the lines last night but would still love to see Lysell and/or Merk get called up. Put some pressure on the vets, light a fire under everyone’s ass, and most of all GO B’S!!!
I would love to see them roll with pasta and potrois on a line together for at least half a game and see if they can build something. I get maybe not a lot of defense there but they have looked really good sharing the I've together. Other than that put marchand back with coyle and Freddie as the new third line, scratch geekie and bring up lysell/merk for a look on the second line with Lindholm centering that line.
Waive tufte and Jones, the guys who need ahl minutes... gives u 2 spots for min salaries, should have been done before this last game for salary management.
Im bouta go on a rant cuz this is my B’s safe space. This is so out of left field but hear me out. As B’s fans we’ve longed for our 1C and so many times it was ELIAS LINDHOLM CMON perfect fit! We finally get him. Perfect fit. But is it wild to ponder … why has a guy of his skill bounced around so much?! Look at Calgary .. thriving. Look at Vancouver .. thriving. Idk the dude but from watching behind the B (especially the episode where him and Zadorov signed and went to Fenway) and other media things he’s a quiet dude. Maybe he’s lost his love for the game or just keeps to himself. Cuz production is statistically been on a decline for a good chunk now ; amongst several supporting casts and rosters. I’ve seen other comments about locker room disconnect so that’s what I’m getting at here. Not saying it’s him could be the youth infusion and line changing etc. A lot of new faces idk if everyone in their buys into leadership. From Sweeney / Neely antics during the sway situation… to Monty being on a contract year without as talented of a roster. Do the new guys and younger but into it? Marchy is our C and can only do so much as an aging , and let’s be honest declining veteran. Have we entered an era where the “Bruins culture” of old school hockey and intense accountability is fading out? Do the younger guys just wanna have fun? Think belicheck style. Too intense for some guys? As someone who’s watched this team for decades plus I just have the inkling and feel this is not the type of Bruins cultured team we’ve been competitive with for the last decade and a half and it’s glaringly evident.
Who put you in the Low Quality Fans Witness Protection Program? Blink once if Monty should be fired. Blink twice if Sweeney should be fired. Blink three times if both should be fired.
The defensive pairings makes sense to me. Big slower guy skating with another with more speed to get the puck going the other way faster. At times it look like the Bruins forgot to sharpen their skates. They are so back on their heels the entire time. Then you see moments (included in the highlights) of this game, where you have glimpse of something that could be. Consistency is a problem. Other than defense not firing, the general health and stamina looks problematic.
I remember during the 2019 cup run, we had smaller, more skilled defensemen, except Chara. St. Louis at times looked bigger and more physical in the SCF. But Sweeney stayed the course, then last season Florida arose. I feel like Sweeney tried to build this team to compete against Florida and only Florida. He must've thought, "Hey, why not just get bigger guys so we dont get pushed around?" But nope, Florida skated circles around this team during the first 2 meetings. Now this team has a speed problem.its like Sweeney overcorrected. Have to be able to combine speed, skill, size, and physicality. I feel the best example was the 2011 cup team but that's just me.
What I can say about Marchy is this. We are almost exactly the same age, like a week apart. 2 years ago I had major abdominal surgery and wasn't cleared for normal activities for 3 months. Marchy is 2 years older than I was at that time and had 3 big surgeries in 5 months and then returned to life as usual as a professional athlete, a star professional athlete at that. They are expecting too much of him imo. I know there is no way in hell I would be able to do that, especially at this age.
No time to panic. It's early. The penalties are the real big issue with the PK. If I were Sweeney, I would trade a defensemen for a forward. Pick one. We may need to change the coach as well, just to get a new vibe. I don't think.montgomery is long for this
I agree that it's to early to go into panick mode. The penalties are just fkn killing us, just sloppy, lazy. Marchand seems to be pushing, he at least showing all out effort. Freddy and Giekie are MIA. However there are glimpses of hope, over the last two games they have had moments of clicking. If they still look like this as you say at game 15, for me it would signal a coaching issue. I'm not advocating firing Monty right now. He's in charge and as they say the bucks stops there.
I feel like Monty’s seat might be getting a little hot as he does not have a contract past the end of the year… Will have to wait and see. I hope they figure it out.. go Bsssssssssssss!!
I really don’t understand why our management thinks we have to have a “theme” with this team, like we got beat by Florida bc we got beat down physically, and out skilled, so instead of getting a few big bodies to make a well rounded team, now we have to be a huge slow team, instead of a well rounded, skilled, fast, big, physical team….adding Tyler Johnson and Lysell into the lineup would make the team much more well rounded, it won’t be enough to make the team amazing but it’s a good start
Hey guys, maybe losing Bergeron, Krejci, Bertuzzi, Hall, Foligno, DeBrusk and Heinen on the forward end over the last 2 off seasons and only picking up defensively sound Elias Lindholm and bruiser Mark Kastelic impacts our scoring potential... Also, Grzelcyk's puck mobility was the best part of his game, and seeing the blue line as it is makes that loss a lot more impactful than it seemed at first. I was off put whenever I initially saw Lindholm and McAvoy together (mostly because I really like the Hampus-Carlo pair), but we really can't afford to put them together at this point. I mainly watch the Pats and Bruins for Boston sports... This season has been brutal so far, but look at what Edmonton did last year or what St. Louis did in 2019 - the season has a long way to go! (I do think Montgomery either needs to stop blending the lines or get out of town, because chemistry is one of the few ways we can bump up scoring, and that doesn't come by mixing lines every game)
Been trying to tell you this going to a work in progress any change in the system creates a change in the system as a whole the has faced many changes in the last 2 years need to deal with it and let them work through it and hopefully Monty can figure it out and players will gel and the right lines will come this is a Marathon not a sprint folks .
First and foremost: the players need to play better That being said, to me it feels like Monty is trying to force his system on a group of players not built for it, hence the lines in the blender trying to find groupings that fit into what Monty wants. Monty wants fewer shots, seek high danger attempts. The 4th line plays the opposite, pucks on net type of line, and the only consistent line on the team. What did he do last night? Take Koepke off the line. He needs to adapt his system for the players he has
Late post no one will see but, Lindholm can't fall down when McAvoy turns the puck over and Peeke needs to cover both sides of the net on the PK when Charlie leaves his position to chase the puck carrier. Be aware of your teammates tendencies.
It's ok to be a little bigger at the cost of being a bit slower. But you have to take advantage of that size or it's all for nothing. What good is all that size if you aren't going to hit or crash the net? If the opponent goes in the corner to get a puck, that player may or may not get it but either way it's got to hurt, Next time he'll be a bit more hesitant going in and looking over his shoulder. The Bruins aren't using their size as an advantage. They never replaced DeBrusk. A lot of people wanted him gone, fine, you got your wish. But you lost speed and a good defensive foreword, specially on the PK. (Careful what you wish for, you might get it). Brazeau has the right idea, get to the net. Not the fastest skater, looks like his blades are made of cement, but he attacks the net. He just needs to start hitting more, grinding along the boards to get pucks. Monty deserves a slap upside the head for how he's using/treating Poitras. He is the Bruins' future and Monty is trying to bury him. Time for a coaching change. I've been bitching about his line tinkering since he got here and now with less talent to work with it's really affecting the team negatively a lot more than before. Change before it's too late. The team is below .500 for the first time in years. The Leafs are next and they are hungry for a win. Plus they have speed and snipers. Not looking good for the Bruins and their playoff hopes.
Yeah, with our talent deficit and supposedly good defense (like the Pats before this season lol), keeping lines together to increase chemistry is the only way to increase scoring potential other than bringing up some guys from Providence
Lindholm has only scored more than 50 points in 4 of 13 seasons in the NHL. He has averaged just over 40 points per season and is a less consistent goal scorer than DeBrusk was who everyone was trashing. Lindholm isn’t doing anything other than playing the same level of hockey he usually does. 50 points is above average for Lindholm.
The biggest problem with the bruins over the past five years is they focused the team on defense. But they forgot they do need offensive players outside two guys.
Sit Wotherspoon, bring up Sweezy, who was a bright light in the preseason. Unfortunately though, I think the coaches are the big issue. There's no way these guys ALL are having bad years. Coaches are clueless.
I actually thought the lines last night worked the best they have all season. They had more xGF than Dallas at 5v5, but they NEED to stop taking penalties and I haven’t seen a full 60 minutes of effort out of them yet
Swayman is of least concern but the turnovers and penalties just overall uninspired play so far outside of Colorado game. Montgomery definately on thin ice every game they are getting beaten to loose pucks and loosing all board battles.
So here’s what you do. You don’t put Potrias in the top line cause he hasn’t done enough to prove to me that he belongs there on the top line. On the other hand, Geekie definitely deserves to be on that top line, he’s done a lot for this team.
this team is just lost, we've shed way too many significant pieces of our chemistry/identity in too short a time frame. There's only so much that guys like Carlo and Coyle can do to carry the torch from guys like Chara and Bergy. I knew McAvoy would have some heavy lifting in that regard but I think it's too much weight to bear even for him
Love to have a conversation about the Bs but keeping it positive is next to impossible. I don't see one redeeming quality, at all lol. Least if we don't make the playoffs hopefully we get changes but I doubt we get that either... Oh well our time to suck... Gooooooo Bsssssssssssss
I legitimately do not see any heart or passion from this team. I didn't think Pasta could look any lazier after last season, but boy was I wrong. Marchy isn't up to speed and I am not sure he will get there, he looks old. They turn over the puck and there is no urgency to retrieve it, until they are down by 2-3 goals. Even then, I find myself questioning is it the B's picking it up, or is it the other team beginning to coast? Turns out, they weren't going half speed in preseason because not much has changed at all imo.
Welcome to AZ brother! I live in Florence and threw my Pasta jersey and stopped watching after the 6v5 goal. My buddy in New England was just as disgusted. Pasta is just so bad right now I cant even begin. -3 now 8 games in what a joke
Zacha poitras pasta Marchy Lindy lysell Freddy coyle geekie Beecher kastlic koepke Brazeau Zadorov mcavoy Lindholm Carlo Wotherspoon peeke Lohrei Like is this not the best lines you’ve seen all season. Hahaha. Man it doesn’t seem difficult to me.
Bruins older teams were slow .. but they controlled the puck by winning faceoffs and having some form of a system to control a cycle.. you can’t out skate a moving puck.. I don’t think Monty has been a good coach for this team since he came in.. just happened to be able to coast for a long time with a team with existing good habits.. but now they have zero good habits.
Fire Monty! For God sake, Monty is an offensive minded coach. This is a problem, because the Bruins are a DEFENSIVE minded team. The Bruins have drafted, traded, signed and developed defensive player for their defensive minded team.
What affect has Jay Leach had? He is running the defense, and person by person should be better than last year..... if Monty goes, we get Sacco or Leach, is that a real change???
Zero chemistry. I was so disgusted I shut it off in the 2 period. I've seen beer league teams with people who've never met each other have more chemistry than these guys
Well the thing is most of our team we can’t even move due to no movement clauses. Realistically probably UFAs that would be expiring. Maybe a guy like geekie. But I only see that being the case if they are a seller come deadline.
Might have to change their name to the Boston Bakers, for now…October Specials…Turnovers…lots and lots of turnovers… This special is hopefully expiring, soon…
It looks like the Bruins have quit on Monty or maybe they're pissed off at Neeley but none of them besides the fourth line that actually care to be here that are new they're putting forth any effort
Can I assume that's because we expect better from the Black and Gold while we... Have literally hit rock bottom in Foxboro? When you have expectations, it makes awful play feel so much worse
Marchand still has to be hurt. Can’t shoot the puck, can’t even dump the puck in no strength. Pasternak,Marchand,Coyleand Mcavoy all to the press box for two or three games. Bring up young guys I would rather lose with guys giving effort. Zacha Freddie how long are we going to wait for them to do something. What happened to old system puck possession dumpin two guys on the puck. No speed through the middle and defense all watching the puck. All back door goals. If not for Swayman game over in first. This is painful to watch, not Bruins hockey!!!!! Send Cam Neely to the room and kick some ass!!!!!!!
Go B’s!!! Only the real fans watching now 😂

Even if they aren't the best rn I will always watch
Good analysis. B's have been good for a long time, maybe it time to go bottom five for a couple years and get some high draft picks, trade off UFA's at the deadline for more picks. Worst thing that could happen is to be in the middling middle.
Having said that, beat the leafs on Sat.
bag skate when?
I agree with your defensive points, you need to have a mobile guy paired with more of a defensive defenseman.
Zadorov-Mac
Carlo-Lindholm
Lohrei-Peeke
That should be your defense and keep it that way.
Gonna be a tough year. We waived Tuffte and hopefully now Max Jones, being up Lysell and Merkulov
I would love to see them roll with pasta and potrois on a line together for at least half a game and see if they can build something. I get maybe not a lot of defense there but they have looked really good sharing the I've together. Other than that put marchand back with coyle and Freddie as the new third line, scratch geekie and bring up lysell/merk for a look on the second line with Lindholm centering that line.
merk and lysell gotta come up , shit cant get worse
Sign Johnston now
@@TheNicholaas they can’t sign him they only have 400 K left and to sign a player they need 700 K
@@bostonwarrior4824 bummer make room somehow
Waive tufte and Jones, the guys who need ahl minutes... gives u 2 spots for min salaries, should have been done before this last game for salary management.
I thought you were gonna pull a dispatched scorpion from off-screen as proof of being in AZ. Almost as disappointing as our loss tonight
Give Lysell a shot! He’s got his downsides but so does the lineup now, he’ll bring some much needed freshness for the offense at best.
Swayman will never be the same without his mentor, Ullmark.
Im over reacting for sure but had to spit some raw feelings 😂🤷♂️😶💪
I liked this style of video don't always nerd the play by play style.
I don't think.montgomery is long for this
forbort was a big part of the pk lol
Yeah with the bricks he had at skates, he would just park himself in front of the net and block everything. No physicality though😂
Golf clap 👏
He was injured a lot over the past 2 seasons though... Having a second shorthanded threat in DeBrusk kind of went under the radar on PK imppact
#51 does need quality linemates!!!
Hey Ian I am totally with you they need to bring up speed and talent for the top 6. Bring up Lysell and Merculov and keep them there!!!
Late watching this vid and not sure if it still in Arizona but if so, welcome to the West coast!
Barry Pederson posed the question in the postgame that couldn’t be answered- “what is this team’s identity?”
Maybe if we asked Dallas ✨nicely✨ they would’ve let us win
Congrats to high quality fiancée, at least something went well. Go B's!
Been trying to tell you this going to a work in progress any change in the system creates a change in the system as a whole the has faced many changes in the last 2 years need to deal with it and let them work through it and hopefully Monty can figure it out and players will gel and the right lines will come this is a Marathon not a sprint folks .
Swayman and the 4th line thats all we got. 😵💫 This maybe the season we start paying for trading away all our draft picks.
They have the core of a good team overall, but their missing secondary scoring.BIGLY.
First and foremost: the players need to play better
That being said, to me it feels like Monty is trying to force his system on a group of players not built for it, hence the lines in the blender trying to find groupings that fit into what Monty wants. Monty wants fewer shots, seek high danger attempts. The 4th line plays the opposite, pucks on net type of line, and the only consistent line on the team. What did he do last night? Take Koepke off the line. He needs to adapt his system for the players he has
The penalties are getting ridiculous at this point it’s a discipline problem that Monty can’t seem to fix
I am still clinging onto some hope that we start getting better.
I mean, Edmonton was like winless through 13 or something last year, right? They managed to get to the cup final
Hey, nice hat!
Still love the B's. 3rd period hopefully something to build off. Just trying to stay positive dammit! 🙂
Personally, I think age (36) is catching up faster on Marchand. He’s still effective, but you can see at times he’s not what he was a few years ago.
Swayman is of least concern but the turnovers and penalties just overall uninspired play so far outside of Colorado game. Montgomery definately on thin ice every game they are getting beaten to loose pucks and loosing all board battles.
Maybe the plan is going for Hagens?
Houston....we have a problem.....
Congrats to High Quality Fiance..
I knew McAvoy would have some heavy lifting in that regard but I think it's too much weight to bear even for him
They need to use that size. So far they really haven’t. And yes there is a lack of talent in the top six. So try out lysell or make a trade.
If this team doesn’t turn things around by December, Monty needs to go
Love to have a conversation about the Bs but keeping it positive is next to impossible.
Resident Evil 3! Is it a worthabuy guys???
Welcome to AZ brother! I live in Florence and threw my Pasta jersey and stopped watching after the 6v5 goal. My buddy in New England was just as disgusted. Pasta is just so bad right now I cant even begin. -3 now 8 games in what a joke
To be fair, it's so easy to defend Boston. Throw a few guys on Pasta and Boston isn't scoring, so that tanks his numbers too
Go B’s!!!😣
Look at the high quality guns on low quality bruins fan!
The penalties man again 3 goals allowed in one period wtf
They’re not a good team and they have no options. Monty hasn’t lost the room, the room has lost Monty
Zacha poitras pasta
Marchy Lindy lysell
Freddy coyle geekie
Beecher kastlic koepke
Brazeau
Zadorov mcavoy
Lindholm Carlo
Wotherspoon peeke
Lohrei
Like is this not the best lines you’ve seen all season. Hahaha. Man it doesn’t seem difficult to me.
Gotta stay out of the box! That’s huge, can’t win when your constantly killing stick penalty’s!
If Toronto blows us out please fire Monty and get on with it.
Damn
Zero chemistry. I was so disgusted I shut it off in the 2 period. I've seen beer league teams with people who've never met each other have more chemistry than these guys
The team s awful and there's nothing in the system to help. I suggest a trade but who would want what we have?
Well the thing is most of our team we can’t even move due to no movement clauses. Realistically probably UFAs that would be expiring. Maybe a guy like geekie. But I only see that being the case if they are a seller come deadline.
gonna be a treat or trick when ullmark and ott make the playoffs and boston doesnt.
Bro they even suck in the NHL25 video game . We are super mid
Too early to fire the coach and get any bump
At least they dress well in expensive suits when they show up to the rink 😅
Might have to change their name to the Boston Bakers, for now…October Specials…Turnovers…lots and lots of turnovers… This special is hopefully expiring, soon…
It looks like the Bruins have quit on Monty or maybe they're pissed off at Neeley but none of them besides the fourth line that actually care to be here that are new they're putting forth any effort
I might actually hate watching this team more than watching the patriots right now
Maye def makes the team more palatable
Slowly reaching the Slightly concerning level.
I think we are collectively taking this slow start too seriously, yeah. I'm glad you're pacing your criticism
